... you have no idea how lifting works. You can become fucking big and strong (as far as your natural limit allows you) with lifting only twice a week. Just eat a lot, sleep enough and increase the weights, that's basically it.

I actually could increase better with 2 times a week than when I did the first 2 years with 4 times a week.

2 times a week isn't enough. 3 is the minimum. It's not all about eating. If you eat a tonne and only exercise 2 times a week, you're on the path to fat city

Physique =/= Strength though. The type of volume required to elicit strength gains is not the same as that required to elicit hypertrophy. Even for strength the average person should train more than twice a week, though.

Your anecdotal "I gained x while doing y" isn't proof of anything though. If you were deadlifting heavy 4 times a week that was the issue.. you shouldn't train maximally 4 times with the same life in one week*. Furthermore we do not know your rep ranges, diet changes, life events etc.. Your single example isn't sufficient evidence that 2 times is better than 3 or 4.
