Habit. Being raised as a peckish eater who stops eating when you're full (not when your plate is cleared) leaves you just as inclined to under-eating as childhood obesity leaves people inclined to a lifetime of unhealthy dietary habits. There is a massive amount of psychological inertia that stops people from changing their lifestyle, and not just fatties.

I used to supervise a skeleton child (~18, new to the military) that was trying to start lifting and get big, so I instructed him on counting calories and getting swole. When I actually observed what he would eat... he would get a cheeseburger and fries for lunch, eat two bites of the burger and about 4 or 5 fries, then stop. In his mind, he had a cheeseburger and fries for lunch.

Hardgainers are a myth. There is only how much you're eating, and how much you THINK you're eating.

Small stomachs. Hard gainers often ate little their whole lives, so naturally their bodies get full on less.
When you eat tons, your stomach expands to accomodate the food, over time allowing you to eat more. It's why my 1k breakfasts or 2k dinners are possible.
You'll feel sick, but you know the saying - eat big to get big. Just don't eat too big (TDEE + 500) or you'll become a fat fuck.

Alright let's assume you're a manlet and you never engage in any sports. That would put your TDEE to about 2k kcal.
Now to gain 1 kilogram of weight / 2 pounds of weight you would need approximately 7thousand kalories.
So if you clear those conditions (manlet + no physial activity) then you would need roughly 14 weeks to gain that 1 kilo.

Tl;dr: You're like a fat chick claiming that losing weight is impossible cause you're too stupid to do basic math.
