Go-to Character Archetype

Sometimes you get lazy, Veeky Forums what's your go to character when you're playing an RPG and can't be made to give more fucks

>Gladiatior slave

Backstory doesn;t take alot of explaining, gives a good reason my character knows how to fight, and having just won their freedom (or escaped) they have plenty of reason to use the only skill they have (killing things) to make some kind of living that won't have them right back in the arena as a slave again.

Any sort of Spellsword.

Hooker with a heart of gold. I love having a deep character that I can develop narratively

I play a lot of smaller, weaker healer characters who just want to make the world a better place for their friends. Debateably reverse traps. Medics work too.

I almost always try to make a character that synergizes with the story of another pc. Having an extra dynamic with another player always seems to add some cool depth

Reverse traps?

dark knight

Grim lawful evil warrior with no patience for bullshit

Girls who can be feasibly mistaken for guys.

Sword and Board human all day

I generally try and play a Gnoll ranger/fighter(if I can get away with playing a savage character in the party).

Some little runty bastard who got run out of his tribe and is trying to make it as a sellsword or something.

If they don't fit, I try and make a Heavy Weapons Guy type character. Big weapons mean big fun.

Stern, lawful evil wizard who wants to attain knowledge, and eradicate anarchy and lawlessness.

I sense a kindred spirit.

>Not having a whole backlog of unused character concepts you've dreamt up in your spare time to call upon when you need them

Found the magical realm.

Devout stone faced paladin with Stick up ass.
Usually raised by nuns.
If I'm playing in a goofy game I'll rip off pratchett and play down the stone faced bit in exchange for trying to foist pamphlets on people.

Oh man, I have two guys thinking about playing twins at some point. They have them planned out and shit. The catch is that one is blind and the other is deaf. Idk how they'll roleplay that, but they'll think of something. We blindfolded people last time blinding came up.

>Deep
And a lotta guys know how deep, am I right?

Lawful good elf paladin, the only law that is truly just is the one in her heart.

>honor bound barbarian
>noble paladin

Depends on my mood.
Either
>Sword and board, can diplomatically talk his way out of any tense situation, will die defending his companions or innocents type paladin
or
>two-handed sword wielding, will threaten anyone who gets in his way, will die crusading against heretics or elder dragons type paladin
Either way, there will be smiting

I'll either go for "big dude who wields big weapon" because that's easy, or "sneaky dude who shanks people" because that's also easy but moderately more interesting to play.

That said, I've thought of so many characters I would love to play in RPGs that I'm never lacking for a concept. And since I end up running games most of the time, they just sorta build for awhile meaning I've got lots of options to choose from.

The backstabber.

>Misunderstood beastman

bighueg brawler team mom

I have three

Wandering sage. Almost always a magic user/ranger hybrid. Seeks knowledge and relics. Typically light hearted and helpful. Neutral good.

Second is a claymore wielding fighter. Plate armor and high HP, basically a tank. True neutral or Lawful neutral. Personality is honest, hardworking, and loyal. Can be bloodthirsty in battle and usually is very prideful and reckless.

The last is a female witch. Magic focused but sometimes has a light and quick weapon. This archtype is usually looking for a lost lover/friend/artifact/etc. They are manipulative but not evil.

I hope no man actually believes this archetype is real. It only exist in mens imagination.

sensible pragmatist cleric

Former farmboy sorcerer.

Perfect reason to adventure, a simple and enjoyable class to play and plenty of rp chances as my character first learns about life outside his village.

Wizard of some description or mechanic/tinker/artificer depending on the tone of the game.

I once had a friend who said it was impossible for me to play a dumb character. So as a break from form, I'm now playing an Int 24 hive ganger.

Lately, my fall-back has always been some ex-military dude eking out a quiet life. Has hobbies you don't normally expect.

For example, in D&D 5E, my tiefling fighter's taken up social work.

>I'm now playing an Int 24 hive ganger.
Don't you mean an Int 17 hive ganger?

>he doesn't watch Westerns

And or hasn't read any significant quantity of Western (ie. European) literature.

This.
I'm sitting on like 10 I could pull from easy, and they have full backstories and personalities ready to go.

Ork Barbarian; two handed weapons, archery, charisma and armour skills. Nothing else.

Warrior obviously

Either

Proud semi-barbarian thane semi because more like vikings/early celts than fur-clad savage

or

Brooding noble-born outcast, black sheep of the family

Or

Uncaring, cold, independent "dirty work" specialist be it assasination, bounty hunting, or whatever

>I hope no man actually believes this archetype is real
>what are beta simps or cucks for that matter?

A half-orc brawler who just wants glory.

Sword&board young knight, specifically blonde or witch with XBOXHUEG witch hat.

Motherly dark sense of humor sarcastic selfless to a fault

Party Face or some kind of "archetype" warrior.

>Cyril
Trash-talking, smug, handsome magician
who pretends to be powerful wizard.

yet he is thief and poisoner

goal is to make money

>Mikuláš
doctor turned grave-robber

sad alcoholic with extensive knowledge of nobles (mainly dead ones).

goal to get revenge on noble who sent him into exile

>Jiří
shepherd who found ancient relic that allows him to command dead

happy little fella who hauls around bag full of skeletons (dogs and such)

goal to find his childhood love from circus

Wizard

Belligerent racist dwarf who has a massive hate on for elves.

Sociopathic Knight Templar

Orcs typically make good stealth archers, good choice user.

Luchadore.

Ranging from incredibly helpful and friendly Lawful Good to high-energy chaotic good, generally pretty naive, always willing to fight for what's right.

Ranged Ranger.
He's talkative. He has seen shit and loves to tell stories about it. He's fairly optimistic and in love with life. One day he would like to settle in some nice, comfy house in a countryside.

A human veteran sellsword, who has been in many tight situations, but always managed to save his own ass. He is kind of neutral good, as he is loyal first to general good of the common people, and then money. He knows his way with weapons, but usually tries to solve problems primarily by speaking. Hugely dislikes being at a disadvantage, so he is not afraid to fight dirty and likes to plan ahead in case of fights (which he tries to avoid as much as possible).

Usually is the tactician. Likes to wear light armour for mobility, and always carries a sword with him.

An investigator, if I'm feeling silly: An over-analyzing investigator.

Ranger, usually a travelling merchant or with some other occupational circumstances that result in being in the wilderness enough to develop some survival skills and with a reason to be travelling in the same direction as the rest of the party long enough to develop friendships.
