Netepic Armageddon is a 6mm (1:285 scale) wargame set in the Warhammer 40 000 universe. In 2003 GW published the fourth edition of Epic, Epic Armageddon. The game relied on community feedback during development and the living rulebook was made available via GW's Fanatic website. The rules are still available for free, but not supported by GW any more. Until the promised return of the specialist games by GW, the game is developed by the fans in the form of Net Epic Armageddon.
>Where do I get the rules? tp.net-armageddon.org/ >Where do I get those fan made minis that show up everywhere? You post your email in Epic threads and hope that one of the recasters contact you. >Where else can I get miniatures? There is a lot of old epic stuff on Ebay and some manufacturers produce good proxies, like vanguardminiatures.co.uk/. Tacticalwargames.net, and other forums or facebook groups also do lots of trading in second hand epic minis. >What's the game like? Players alternate using parts of their armies called formations rather than moving and fighting with their entire force. Morale and fatigue is represented by giving “Blast Markers” to a formation when something bad happens to it, which gradually makes it less effective and stops more and more units in the formation from acting until they rally. The scale makes units with longer range weapons or high movement speed stand out more, makes manoeuvring more important and allows for the use of many units that are superheavy or above in Warhammer 40 000, such as Baneblades, fliers, knights or titans without warping the game too much.
In this user's opinion, this is a great gamers game as well as a great hobby game. Not as clumsy or random as 40k. An elegant game... for a more civilized age.

So, how has the week been in Epic for everyone? Played my first game this week and rather enjoyed it. Kinda unsure if we did CC right; are Terminators really that good? Planning to cut out the proxies for Steel Legion starting tomorrow.

Why the legs and not whatever systems a normal monolith uses to hover?
It's a mobile base and weapons platform, not a titan used to slug it out with things of comparable size.
Aiden Martinez
> Kinda unsure if we did CC right; are Terminators really that good?
Well, without knowing how you did it I can't say for sure, but generally speaking Yes they most certainly are, that's why they cost so fucking much.
Sebastian Diaz
THOSE AREN'T LEGS.
THOSE ARE MURDER TENTACLES IT USES TO GRAB THINGS AND FEED THEM TO THE ABBOTOIR.
You should give it a try. Epic is a much better game and you can still use the theme and lore for your campaigns.
Cooper Roberts
God help me. I'm up to 9 stands of infantry, 6 mortar teams (counts-as fire support teams maybe?), 6 basilisks and 3 manticores, 4 marauders, and 4 thunderbolts. I found a nice recaster who will make some Leman Russes and Chimeras for me. Maybe if I snag a Warhound or two after I'll be good.
Wyatt Young
Been working on Epic30k. Just placed a $500 dollarydoo order to start my Irons Hands army and fill out the rest of my Mechanicum force. Wish the EpicAU guys would update their site more but I figure they're busy with life.
Chase Jones
Question regarding the Planetfall special rule, it's optional right? A thunderhawk doesn't have to arrive via Planetfall if I don't want it to?
Ryder Ortiz
Yes to both. Can arrive via Planetfall or as a regular aircraft. Well, they mulched a Necron Infantry and a Monolith Phalanx, because of all the extra attacks from the difference between the 2d6+modifiers we got. It just seemed strange to me how little chance the Necrons stood.
Connor Wilson
how are those eldar infantry sculpts coming along, do you have any concept art ?
Camden Evans
that much? i thought epic was kind of cheap in comparison.
Parker Martinez
Depends on what you want to do. 40K Epic can be relativly cheap, either with secon-hand models from ebay and similar sites or third party proxies. More obscure factions are harder to come by, and if you want to run a lot of Titans, well, those are a bit more costly.
Henry Perry
It use to be cheap when they were still printing minis. I'm not sure if they are now.
Back when this first came out I purchased one of the space marine army packs that had hundreds of minis.
It must have had at least 10 units+ worth in there from what I can remember and it was £20.
now one unit is worth £10 at least.
Brody Cruz
Here's the progress so far. I now own all the minis I need for the two forces except the rhinos, which are still in transit.
Could probably do with another swarm, but dont' want to think about painting it yet.
Ayden King
Also, yes I left the gants on rectangles. They do clip, but the metal onslaught ones I needed to buy to fill out the army are smaller and don't. And the block of rectangles adds a visual anchor to the force. Too messy without them.
Alexander Russell
I've always loved the look of Epic, but no-one I know plays it. Are there any online versions? Like Vassal or Tabletop simulator kind of things?
Parker Perry
Well, if you didn't kill any of them, and he killed 4 or 5 of you then yeah there's going to be a big difference. That said, you should still be getting bonuses for outnumbering him 2 to 1 unless you had less than 8 units in the formation, so that should have evened the scores a little?
If you could talk me through exactly what you did I might be able to help.
Cameron Kelly
Me too... Rex0809 at sbcglobal.net
Leo James
I still kick myself when I remember how my local toy shop was selling big packs of Epic miniatures for £5 each and not picking them up.
In my defence, I was in my early teens.
Ayden Martinez
Well I too are looking for some serious recasters!

All the stuff I missed out on I'm fine with. I can afford the prices now and I got what I wanted while it was still available: the Emperor Titan sprue. Ordered off GW's site right before they were gone for good. This was in the early-mid 2000s and I was shocked that sprue from like, 1990, was still being sold. Bought it right up.
Some questions as I move on with my forces; though. What should I buy to transport these in? All the Warhams I kept I have in a magentized box. I will not be magnetizing my Epic so that won't work.
Also, I did business with the Ground Bugs guy. Excellent service, super fast delivery, great models. A huge pain to work with resin, but that's my fault. I'm not very dexterous. Am I correct in assuming they are meant to proxy the Exocrine, Dactylis, and Heirodule?
Jaxson Roberts
My current epic project. A true scale Imperator titan. My renegade box arrived today!
Jaxon Price
Everyone used tackle/screw boxes backs in the day.
Samuel Cruz
I like how it keeps the look of the original, but updates the style.
Christian Bailey
It was Wednesday, so its all a bit vague by now. Basically, I attacked his Infantry Phalanx, saved all of my wounds thanks to Reinforced Armour, killed six Warriors with my Macro Weapons and Extra Attacks, leaving him with his Lord and 3 Tomb Spyders. For the CC result, I got 8 or 9 and he got 3, so the 4 units he got left were auto-destroyed. Seems we did it correctly, from what you already said. Incidentally, are CC hits only allocated to units in base contact or to potentially everyone in the formation?
Tyler Parker
Just stuff it with some sort of liner? Cotton or something? Don't want metal models rattling around.
Josiah Carter
I like it, the Castle Titan always was pretty cool. Isnt Foam all the rage these days? At least one manufacturer I know of makes them pre-punched so you can fit it to your figures.
Owen Brooks
I put magnetic sheets on the bottom of the bases and attach them to a baking sheet I got from walmart. Sheets cost around 10 bucks and the baking sheet 8. Holds my entire army.
For the vehicles I just put some hot glue inside the cavity and stuck in a magnet which I got dirt cheap from china.
Jordan Jenkins
I guess with the size of Epic, a very thing sheet that doesn't make them overly tall would still work?
Blake Price
Size comparison.
I like all these models except the Dom. Once my nids get to 3k, I will be fielding one. I think I should just field one using the Heirophant (Hydraphant) model. The Dom is supposed to be the nid's nastiest critter, but that model is just weedy.
Jeremiah Adams
I don't have any titans. All the infantry and non vehicles work fine. Though the vehicles would work as well I just didn't want to both basing all of them. Hotglue with a standard magnet works great.
Matthew Turner
Upside down and nothing falls out. Nothing rattles around. Everything was super cheap. I stole the idea from Dr Faust painting studio.
Andrew Flores
but where ya gonna get a plasma annihilator from boss
Dylan Morgan
Leman russ demolisher strikes me as the thing with a big plasma cannon.
Joshua Jenkins
Yeah, that's how that works all right. You got lucky to save all your wounds and to hit and kill 6 out of four attacks really. Plus don't forget that unit of Terminators costs what? 400pts? For just four stands of them? I don't think there's an infantry choice elsewhere in the game that expensive per-stand.
>Incidentally, are CC hits only allocated to units in base contact or to potentially everyone in the formation?
Base contact only. Firefight casualties are resolved like shooting.
Ethan Scott
Six out of Eight attacks I mean.
Juan Jones
He could use a leman russ plasma cannon.
Joshua Hernandez
350 for four, yeah, and thanks.
Ian Wright
Does that thing have a groin-mounted battle cannon?
Dominic Fisher
Yes it does. For when you really need to dick those Xenos over, accept no substitutes.
Kayden Johnson
That's almost as awesome of an idea as the Pagani dick fan.
Landon Powell
Huh...
Jack Peterson
It was $500 AUD for about 6000 points. Also it's shipping from AUS to the US.

Actually hits are distributed to units as per how close they are to the enemy so units in base contact will get hits before units 0.1-15cm. This goes for all hits regardless of being CC or FF hits. That means CC hits can "spill over" onto enemies in FF range.
Now war engines work differently, CC hits from a WE will only hit units in base contact and vice versa for FF.
Sebastian Gonzalez
I'm too attatched to what I already have, I want to belive the game I've already gotten into will improve
William Foster
You can do both you know.

You don't have to abandon 40k to play epic doe

First complete swarm. The onslaught not-gaunts fit right in (second row). Zoanthropes seem to be an all around shooter, so I made them my first choice.
Ryan Moore
Looking good brah.
I only take Zoantropes for the AA. The FF and Ap5+ 30cm isn't too impressive imo. 4+ save and invu is quite impressive though.
>I'm also jelly you have the original tropes, I had to settle for proxies
Xavier Watson
Working on a bunch of random shit. These Truescale Titans are fucking awesome.
Lincoln Lopez
Fucking awesome fire raptors. I need to get me some titans as well.

I got 2x Reavers and 4x Warhounds plus a bunch of Astartes stuff.

Truescale Warlord is about 6" I reckon.
Christian Harris
What's that cork looking metal thing on the left? What do you use it for? Do I need one? Oh god, are you all laughing at me for not using a metal cork?!
Hunter Price
It's a cork with sticky tack covered in metallic paint.
Lol you don't know about the metal cork? Guys, he doesn't know about the metal cork.
