If you were the sort of person that would name their kids after Veeky Forums-related characters, what names would you choose and why?

Crit Fail McGee

Something safe and lame like Arya or Luna

"Day'twanay"

My first exposure to the Dragonlance books was meeting a kid in my school named Raistlin.

Now I wonder just how high his parents were when they thought that was a good idea.

Tulsleah, and encourage him to go into medical school, specializing in aged care.

Victor, Katherine, Peter, Arthur, Yvonne.

My wife and I are considering Varda Meira for a bilingual (Hebrew/Quenya) pun. Varda is "rose" in Hebrew (a borrowing from Persian), Meira is a feminine form of Meir and means more-or-less "Enkindler". It should go without saying that we're both huge Tolkien geeks.

The one minor problem is that "Rose" in Hebrew is masculine, not feminine, ורד not ורדה.

I mean I suppose you can feminize the flower if you really wanted to, but it's not quite proper. Plus, you run into some double construction given that Varda is also Quenya, meaning "lofty" or "sublime".

One, it's a not-overly-uncommon girl's name in Israel, or so I'm told.
Two, the idea is that it becomes Varda the (star) Enkindler, which is one of Varda's titles (S:Gilthoniel/Q:Tintallë). Not sure what you mean by "double construction". I think "pun" was the wrong word, rather that it'd be a nice name in Hebrew and a Tolkien reference at the same time.

Also, natch, the noun is masculine, but the feminine form is occasionally attested. Loan-words can be weird like that. Oh, and in Aramaic it's Varda with an aleph at the end (can't work non-Latin characters easily on the phone, alas), not sure if masculine or feminine, though.

Rapestab McGenocide

What a goddamn hero.

Larry

I hope your child will hate you enough to tell you to fuck yourself when you're old

Slaanesh

Probably just some names which sound like generic human PCs. Think the naming conventions GRRM uses when modifying historical names but avoiding major characters he's already named in his series.

Henderson Bearington Urist xD

Martin Stuart (Mylastname)

Would it be weird to name your baby daughter after one of your waifus?

My sons names are Tyr and Griffin.

>tfw there are actual people named griffon
That shit should be considered child abuse.

>If you weren't you, what would not-you do?
Literally any answer is equally valid. Someone who is not me could name their kids Lemonjello and La-a because they'd be different and wouldn't give a fuck what I prefer.
Now if I was still myself, and forced at gunpoint to pick a name, I'd go with a normal-but-rare-sounding one like Jace or Chandra.

Matrim Cauthon.

Just call him Matt, keep Cauthon as his middle name.

Are you kidding? Why? to a larger portion of the population its just a regular name and im not even that guy

>not Rand
>normal
I guess it depends on the location, but where I'm from you might as well name your child Pegasus as Griffon

whattoexpect.com/forums/baby-name-game/topic/is-griffin-too-trendy.html

So this is a link discussing if the name Griffin isTOO trendy

I fail to see how this relevant to what I said.

babycenter.com/baby-names-griffin-1921.htm

This link says that according to statistics its the 277th most common boys name in 2016 and its less popular then it used to be.

thats not even my name I dont know why im trying this hard. I just think its ridiculous you think tha is child abuse

Because you made a statement and I called out that statement and provided evidence to support my opinion...thats how its relevant.

I would further go on to say that pegasus is probably not even used as a name anywhere and youre projecting your opinion onto the wider area that you live.

Then you lack both imagination and common sense.

Me and the wife, if we have a daughter, will probably name her Tinuviel

That's odd, I hadn't even heard of it being used as a name until less than a year ago. My point was about people naming their kids on a lark and those same kids being made fun of for the rest of their life because their parents wanted to be clever. I guess in most of the US Griffin wouldn't fall into that category.

I said that griffin is not common where I'm from and you posted a link to forum post by a literal who as if that somehow changes that.
Rude

Mieli (from The Quantum Thief book, sci-fi)

The name is rather unique, but still sounds right and proper in Finnish (it means "mind") and fits in well with old historical names, so it doesn't stand out awkwardly. It would reveal my high power level to those in the know, but is stealthy among normalfags.

Barry Johnson.

Geller, and I will nurture an interest in quantum physics in him and hope he develops the Geller Field.

>I have a friend who already named his unborn daughters.
>Arya and Luna.
>Wants the first one to have platinum blonde hair.
>Wants the other to have nightblack hair.
>Wants both of them to have conflicting eye colors, prefferably purple or red.

I'm starting to think he is working at Blizzard.

Arya and Luna are literally the name combination for his unborn daughters and I'm actually starting to suspect that he is you.

Does he understand how genetics work?

>conflicting eye colors
Why not just name them Mary and Sue?

I have a job where I see a lot of names on forms that people submit.
The best name I ever encountered was
>Galen Hoodenpyl

I bet he's traipsing through the forest right now with his fellow elves.

Friends of mine named their daughter Jaina and their son Rand.

How would you react to a girl named Ribbon?

Slight pity, assume her parents were hippies.

Anduriel, it's got a safe short form, but is still embarrassing as hell and will foster resentment, which I will use to mold him into the perfect monster

How would you react to a guy called Slab?

> wife
> daughter

How does it feel knowing you'll be losing a lot of gaming time soon? Also about half a million bucks. Lol

He's my hero if his last name is Squatthrust,

i'd look through legendary magic cards of the appropriate gender if i was lost. I like Aurelia for a girl. I'd like to say Daxos for a boy but I feel like that is too weird compared to Aurelia.

But rose is gol in persian.

It felt like the true cringe experience when he was talking about it.

What the waifu version of a daughter? Cause it felt like that.

Live in a small college town and the guy named griffon is super popular in the hipster circles. Everyone i've seen him introduce himself to is like "OMFG SO BADASS" or vaguely confused but still impressed.

>Jace

Chandra is fine. I have mostly seen it for black women though.

Underrated

My wife refused to name our daughter Onyxia. Or Wrathion if it were a boy.

Can't blame her, really.

Avoid X's, Z's and Y's.
You don't trust a person with an X or a Z in their name.

Xzavier must be a huge problem for you.

Also my name is only 2 letters and has a y instead of vowel

Well since my wife is part of my gaming group I'm ok on that front.

As for the daughter, that is at least a year out so I'll deal with it then. Probably get my spawn into gaming as well when they are young anyway

SmashFucker-3000

Good luck user. I hope your wife is a qt. I will never have a family but I am glad ppl like you are willing to continue th human race.

>You don't trust a person with an X or a Z in their name.

Elizabeth. Alex. Dexter. Max. Eliza. Suzanne.

Your wife has significantly more sense than you do.

Daughteru...though that usually refers to an adopted/honorary daughter.

Angron.

Morgan
Morrigan
Cain

>abuse

Is school already out for the summer? It's my wife's maiden name. He isn't named after a mythical animal. It's spelled Griffin.

>Tinuviel
Don't fucking do it mate.

...

>He isn't named after a mythical animal.
I've got some bad news for you.

I wouldn't trust an Elizabeth or Eliza, sounds like a bunch of Vampires.

I wouldn't want to be alone with a Dexter.

I have an aunt named Suzanne and she is a narcissistic bitch, much like a vampire.

So no, I'm still not convinced.

Well, that's just autism, and I can't help you there.

Oh you just carry on with your "You are autistic, I'mma leave you to yours."

Mark my words, one day an Elizabeth or an Axel will fuck you over and then you will be just like me!

THE HUNT BEGINS AGAIN!

This. Kids aren't fucking pets. Is the name something you would hate being called? Yes? Then pick something else.

My little brother's name sounds somewhat like "Orc", so that's how I've been calling him ever since he finished reading The Lord of the Rings.

Pegasus is a rad fucking name tho

I'm not your friend, bro.
Arya and Luna are the two most normal sounding tg-names that came to mind.

I would assume they meant Robbin and somebody fucked up the birth certificate

>Underrated post

Garviel
Horus

I've met Totomas before. Apparently the story is that farther had bit of a stutter and the guy at the certificate office did not give a fuck.

>get my spawn into gaming
Good luck, bro. Kids don't work that way.

This, really. If your kid asks for a football for Christmas, don't buy him a set of dice. Buy him a football.

Goblin.

Cuntrina.

Anna and May.

I'm neither of you two and I agree.
I hated football growing up and got into videogames real early.

But if my son or daughter doesn't want that shit, I'm stepping the fuck back.

>waifus
>plural
>3d children

Could you imagine being a fa/tg/uy and your kid being a total Chad?

>he and his friends bully you
>he brings more girls to your house that you ever known.

I live in Germany, so anything interesting that isn't burrowed from the real world is against the law.

Harry Blackstone or Copperfield.
It's unusual to have multiple middle names nowadays, and middlenames are the safest to use since people rarely use their full names.
Unless, of course, his teacher was a dick and tells the class their full name.
Lucky for the imaginary kid that I'm impotent.

>Not Griffith

NOTHING
WRONG

How cute is she? Very important.

Roboute Guilliman

>he throws a giant party at your house
>you're not invited

...

>he does all this because you would have loved him more if he was a nerd like you

Arya Stark and Luna Lovegood aren't that bad, if your daughter turns out like either of them you did a good job

honestly? Should be reserved for middle names if it's something crazy. Like:

>Susan Luna Smith
>Eric Horus Browning
>Simon Griffith Diaz

ect ect

Funny you mention it.

Griffin is my middle name, and was my great-grandfather's given name.
