Let's roll up an Imperial Guard Regiment

Let's roll up an Imperial Guard Regiment.

First let's roll D10 for Regiment Classification

rolling

Put it in options instead of name

attempt number two before i just wallow in a corner forever

Rolled 4 (1d10)

Rolled

Rolled 6 (1d10)

confirmed what i'm doing for the rest of eternity
it's been fun

Rolled 5 (1d10)

Rolling for the Emperor

Imperial Guard

PDF

Let's make them an IG regiment selected out of the PDF?

Now we need to roll d100 to determine their demographics

Rolled 64 (1d100)

I like it. Dubs make it better.

First Born

I like the idea of first born children being conscripted into the PDF, and then they do a selection process for the IG regiment the planet produces. Thoughts?

Well we can find out because the next roll is a 1D10 to determine the nature of their recruitment

Rolled 2 (1d10)

Sounds good man

Rolling

Elite Tithe

Nice roll this still makes sense

Now it's a d100 roll for regimental homeworld

Rolled 12 (1d100)

rolled

So so far we are Hivers, and the firstborn child of citizens are tested, and the best are selected for the PDF, and the best of the PDF are chosen as Guardsmen.

Sounds good.

Next roll is for the homeworld predominant terrain (excluding the hive cities)

Rolled 55 (1d100)

On it

d100 roll sorry

Ice worlders. Maybe the Hives sit over geothermal vents that provide heat and power?

I really like this. It gives them motivation to join the guard in order to leave the planet and (as far as they believe) travel the stars

D100 for the regiments core units

Rolled 78 (1d100)

Armoured. Leman Russes for the win

1d10 for their specialisation. This might almost determine what kind of tanks they roll around in

Rolled 8 (1d10)

dice for the dice gods, then!

Rolled 7 (1d10)

Rolling for trenches

Ranged bombardment followed by shock and awe as we charge in our Lemon Rushes? I like it!

Ranged & Shock and awe

Sounds awesome

Next roll is a 1d10 for their loyalty rating

Rolled 10 (1d10)

All hail the Emperor and Russ his prophet

woops

WE DUN FUCKED UP

I'd say it was nice knowing you boys, but then again, I'm not a liar.

So, are we gonna be Chaos worshippers now? Or "Our Govemer got angry about the tithe and flipped off the Administration"?

Not all roads lead to chaos, friend

Govener or Commander told the Administratum to suck his fat one then. We raid for parts and food and shit?

Or we just went rogue with our fleet and started raiding on our own. Anyway, OP hasn't posted in a while. 1d100 for special equipment.

so much for being a ig regiment, Say goodbye to our world from the inevitable moment when our planetary governor flips off an inquistor and gets us exterminatused.

>Heretical
uh oh

Next roll is a d100. We have rolls to find out our relations with other imperial institutions that will let us find out why we are heretical

Rolled 14 (1d100)

C'mon something that makes sense!

Rolled 25 (1d100)

Here we go!

Rouge chapter we were buddies with?

Arsehole chapter who tried to kill us after a fight?

fallen angels? we help cypher do shit?

and because of that , the dark angels consider us quite heretical.

Grey Knights fucked us up after a Daemon incursion on a world we were fighting on?

Or this, but I think shock and awe lemon rushes are a tad less subtle than the fallen angels.

He did say rouge. Clearly its a red chapter. Maybe we did go full chaos and roll with the red corsairs?

>Or this, but I think shock and awe lemon rushes are a tad less subtle than the fallen angels.
Obviously you aren't channeling the spirit of Oinkbane enough, if you don't think our armour can be subtle.

>red corsairs
>boarding actions and piracy

we have an armoured regiment filled with tanks for shock and awe.... i think boarding isn't the best use for a lehman.

Not unless we strap them to escorts and use them to fire all the boarding torpedoes.

If we gonna be heretical might as well throw in some tech heresy.

Holy kek my sides went into orbit

Careful, we have Leman Russ Pattern escort craft up there.

sneaky sneaky gets it done

That was a roll for special equipment and you rolled War Trophies (perhaps part of why we are heretical) and special lasguns (I reckon something small because we are tankies

Next roll is a d100 to determine regimental creed. This could show why we are heretical

I have to go now but if someone else could take over that would be awesome: 1d4chan.org/wiki/Imperial_Guard_Regiment_Creation_Tables

Rolled 49 (1d100)

sneaky sneaky

Ok, time to recap.

We hail from an Ice World, whose Hives sit above geothermal vents for heat and power. We are Firstborn who were chosen as the best of the PDF, and we are trained to bombard the enemy from afar before charging in to smash the weakened defenses. We were known to take trophies from defeated foes, and used some sort of weapon unique or symbolic of our people. Our Govener unknowingly or not helped the Fallen Angels, and the Dark Angels hate us. We were forced to join up with the Red Corsairs or similar Chaos Warband, and we use our tanks as extra firepower for escort ships.

And we rolled For the Emperor. Fuck.

>For the Emperor: Fervent belief in the Imperial cult and the righteous mission of the Imperium fuels this regiment.

Maybe we reroll this one.

we are the most bi-polar regiment in the entire imperium

Perhaps we think that everyone else is the heretic and that we are the only loyalists?

From memory that's what the defenders of Vraks believed

Nah we keep it. Our Govener fucked up, and we need to raid and shit for supplies but we still believe Emps will deliver us

D100 for Regimental Friends

I think I saw someone talk about their Death Korps/Elysian combined regiment once. That would be worse.

Captcha pls

Rolled 53 (1d100)

Or maybe our belief is heretical? Perhaps we follow something closer to the Imperial Truth rather than the Imperial Creed, and that rustled the Adeptus Ministorum's jimmies?

WE GOT TITANS BOIS!

We got buddies in the titanicus. Maybe we just follow the machine cult rather than the big E? It would make sense with the armoured feel we have.

so we work with the fallen angels to somehow protect and honor the emperor, but that puts us at odds with the majority of the imperium.

we have grown so accustomed to the hatred imposed upon us by the majority of the imperium that we believe that they're the ones that are heretical while we're the ones following the imperial creed.

The Fallen taught the Govener and our people of the Imperial Truth, and our faith in the Emperor, rather than faith in a God, is the Faith that the Imperium He envisioned can come to fruition

We have a close relationship with the Adeptus Titanicus. Roll 1D100 for regimental enemies.

Rolled 57 (1d100)

might as well roll for enemies as well.

and we have friends in the Adeptus Titanicus that also believe in the imperial truth and secretly works with us to fulfill the emperor's true vision

I like this. Heretics aren't necessarily Chaos aligned.

Chaos Space Marines

And, as it turns out, we are enemies with the traitor legions. Nice.

Our enemies are a group of Chaos space marines. Perhaps we resent the Fallen ever so slightly for screwing us over?

There isn't anything left to roll so now lets get the small details down.

And with our mighty steel we fight the Chaos Space Marines, laughing at how they worship the so called Gods of Chaos and reject their genefather

we like the fallen because they taught us the imperial truth, we have a secret chorus of insurgents in the adeptus titanucus that are loyal to the imperial truth and works with us to carve a territory in the galaxy and shape it into a star system that the emperor would be proud of.

Okay so our regiment:
>Hails from a hiveworld built upon a giant, icy wasteland
>On this planet the firstborn son of every family is conscripted into the PDF
>During conscription, the troopers may volunteer to do a rigorous selection process to get into the IG in order to leave their freezing cold shithole
>The Regiment they go into is an armoured regiment that specialises in long range shock and awe combat
>The regiment (as well as the planet?) is considered heretical by the majority of the Imperium
>We have a special relationship with the fallen
>We hate a group of chaos space marines (perhaps the fallen that explicitly turned to Chaos instead of just being fallen?
>We are friends with the Adeptus Titanicus, which suits us because we provide the long range shooting of smaller targets in our tanks while the titans deal with the big shit

And our exact belief system is..... complicated

To recap everything:

We come from an icy Hive world, recruiting our forces from the elite ranks of the PDF, who recruit the firstborn of every family on the planet. We have an armoured core, with doctrines of ranged bombardment followed by shock and awe. We take war trophies and have some sort of special lasguns. We are allied with some in the Adeptus Titanicus and consider a group of chaos space marines to be our mortal enemies.

We are heretics, having turned our backs on the Emperor.

We are influenced by the Fallen and believe the original imperial truth. However, we seem to be lacking any kind of naval transport, have managed to maintain allies in the Titanicus despite our heretical nature and simultaneously hate chaos.

That about sums it up.

Let's get into designing our homeworld

>Obviously it was brought into compliance by the Dark Angels and a small garrison was left there during the heresy. Although this garrison has long since departed, (and some other Dark Angels painted in green called in one day asking where they went) there is a rumour that they remain in contact with the military commanders of the planet

>It used to be prosperous, hence why people started moving there in the DAoT, but then the sun started dying, making the temperature of the planet drop into negatives as well as being very dark.

>The population created hive cities above the massive thermal vents as it was the only way to keep warm. This has created a unique structure of the hive cities, as the rich and affluent now live in massive secure facilities at the base of the city and close to the vents. The poor build makeshift structures on top of the facilities, and compete with each other for the heat that escapes the facilities in which the rich live. During the winter scores of the poor die from the cold.

>Joining the guard is seen as the only way of leaving the planet.

>The only way to travel between the hive cities is in tracked vehicles, which is what gives the planet it's penchant for armoured warfare.

Thoughts?

I like it. Also

>The icy plains force any skirmishes between Hives to be at long range, hence the penchent for long range shock and awe combat

I like the idea of upside down hive cities

Creature creation time: Roll a D10 for food habits

Rolled 4 (1d10)

Anyone up for running an Only War game with this regiment?

Infantry can't dismount for shit since they'll just freeze and the snow is too deep to walk through

>each hive city is ruled by a principia, and his/her governmental cabinet. called a principial conventa. and they all elect a planetary governor from one of the principias to take command of the PDF and to manage the tithe . the world creates an unsual amount of super magnets which shelf life last as long as 5 decades.

the principia comes from a ruling noble family, but his principia conventa are voted in (how long does the siting principia conventa members varies from city to city)

guys, what's the name of this world? and what's the name of our regiment?

Wait, how did the Dark Angels get wrapped up in this?

Maybe they just don't believe in the Imperial Church?
Conquered during the Great Crusade, but contact was lost for a long while after the Horus Heresy. Couple millenia later, the Imperium shows up and says you gotta take part again. Planet agrees, but the first time a commissar shows up and hands them the uplifting primer, they start spouting off the Imperial Truth and claim the Emperor isn't a god.

I like this. Juntas always make for good settings.
Awesome artwork btw that's how I envision the planet

What is the IG Selection like? Is it a test of their toughness like SAS selection/BUDs or is it more of an aptitude test?

>As war trophies, the regiments of this planet scavenge notable body parts and pieces from enemies they destroy in combat and mount them on their tanks. Examples of this includes the heads of Ork Nobs and Tyranids attached to their tanks as well as slabs of wraithbone. This has drawn disgusted looks from commisars more than once.

And are we Space Slavs/Finns/Nordics/Canadians or something else?

>Wait, how did the Dark Angels get wrapped up in this?
Someone suggested it and everyone thought it was a good idea. I think it's neato too but being someone's sidekick shouldn't be the central theme of the regiment

the uniforms of the finns are quite practical.

we should remove the fallen angels?
just make it that it was the dark angels that carried out the purging.

But unanimously, all of the principias, and most of the populance still believes in the imperial truth, but now practice it quietly.

I like this.
Occasionally a loud mouthed private get's blammed by the commisar for talking back to the Ministorum priests

name of the planet? Scelerisque
name of the imperial guard regiment? Lerisque Mechanized Yeomanry

Thoughts?

Yeah It's alright. I wouldn't mind if they are french.

As a joke we should make their regimental banner white (from the frost, of course)

>PDF moves around the scelerisque with specialized sentinels.

there are some titans still operational in the snowy fields of the world attracting pilgrimages from the adeptus titanicus.

I might pitch the idea to my party.
>Hiveworld
>Phlegmatic commander (might actually roll for the commander's type, this is just my prefered choice)
>Armoured regiment
>Potentially anti-armour doctrine

And then either the mistrusted or traitors drawback depending on how strongly they believe in the imperial truth.

Thoughts?

If you are going to go with anti-armour doctrine you better have a Baneblade and the BBEG

Does Only War have rules for fighting hordes?

*as the BBEG
I don't know why I wrote 'and'.

I'l add a ministorum priest as an NPC to the campaign.

To recap the beliefs and Dark Angels from earlier:

>Planet was loyal Imperial World
>Regiment specialized in fighting Chaos Space Marines
>Fallen Angels come and teach the Govener and ruling families the Imperial Truth
>Planet believes in Imperial Truth now
>The Dark Angels hate us
>Our friends the Titan Legions help us squish evil while we take out infantry and armor that are too small to bother the Titans.

We crusade against Chaos and are trying to spread the Imperial Truth again, while taking down Traitos Marines laughing at their gods. And we are buds with Titans.

>The Dark Angels hate us
I'd prefer that the Dark Angels don't know, or that we don't know the Dark Angels know.

Anyone who gets between the Dark Angels and the fallen gets fucking destroyed.
