Opening some MTG lottery repacks AKA probably getting hosed

What up fa/tg/uys!

So I bought 3 of those MTG lottery repacks with a chance at getting high value cards. They were $10 each. Mox Opal, dual lands, enemy fetches, foil khans fetches, and others are in the prize pool.

Will I get a bunch of crap? Probably. Am I getting ripped off by someone lying about the prize pool? Possibly. But let's find out!

I'm watching.

inb4 all mono color White Plains lands.

is this one of those shitty packs remade by stores? Which I assume are all a fucking cashgrab, with one pack out of all of them maybe being worth it

How many cards are in each pack?

How many cards per pack?

>colored lands

I don't recommend you run out and buy packs like this off eBay. There is a good chance they are a scam. These came from a reasonably well know gaming store that runs a YouTube channel.

Stated odds are of 1000 repacks, 47 will have a card worth $40+. And iirc when I did the math, it was about 1 in 22 odds to get a 'hit' pack. I've played worse odds!

I have no idea what stuff is supposed to be in non hit packs.

>reasonably well know
Oh boy can't wait to see this legit scam.

5 cards in each pack. Roughly half will have a foil I think?

But I did notice something different about the card in this pack. It is in MP to HP condition. Presumably a high value old card would be in such condition!?!?!

>Letting deriums rob you

And if I flip it over I think that's a white border?!?!

Doesn't really mean much, could be a HP eighth edition Giant Growth in crap condition. But I am intrigued!

We will open that pack last.

Nah bro don't question the scammers, just accept it and feel bad.

Pack one, card one: Turn and Burn.

Woooo! Good start.

Sarcasm?

This common.

Another common.

Oh yeah, and each pack has 1 rare. So there's this guy.

And last card of the pack, a foil. That's something at least!

Pack one, not a hit.

Undeterred, we move to pack 2!

Average min and max price that you may find for each card.

>$0.05 ~ $1.00

>$0.03 ~ $0.70

>$0.04 ~ $1.05

>$0.10 ~ $1.40

>$0.20 ~ $1.08

So going for the max values, OP lost $4,77 with the first pack.

Pack 2, first card is a common.

I actually love the flavor text and artwork combo on this card! Always makes me chuckle.

Let's not fuck around. Op lost 10 on that pack. All those cards are bulk trash.

Next card is the rare. So this one.

Next card is a land! But not one of the lands we are looking for.

Then this common.

And last card of the pack is this common.

Pack two, not a winner!

Land is a buck, if you're lucky. The rest are trash.

So far you are -19.00

So here we go, last pack with the crappy condition card.

The card in question definitely has a white border!

First card up, we see the return of an uncommon.

Next card up.

Uh oh, a white border in crappy condition. This doesn't bode well. Might be getting trolled here.

Next card is the rare. So yeah, think that means this is a bust!

This... this is kind of depressing...

My heart goes out to you, OP.

Next card is a foreign, that's cool at least! No idea what card it is though, probably a common.

One card left!

Why the guy spent 30 on a scam. Serves him right.
>Inb4 mox

>Probably a common

Do you not actually play magic?

>OP is stupid with his money.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

And the last card does have a white border! But just a really crappy conditioned old card. Thoroughly trolled!

Ah well, 3 packs were a bust. No worse than getting a fat pack without anything good. Anyways thanks for reading!

This is true of any and all collectible games with random picks.

It's just a different form of scratchoff tickets you find at any gas station.

But where packs are truly random.
These are fixed, worse odds.

Yep. They're bad scratchoffs. Isn't that sad?

That said, thanks for sharing, OP. Even if the logic is flawed, it's fun to watch.

Well, I'm optimistic kind of guy, so I will give these cards the benefit of the doubt.

>$0.03 ~ $0.70

>$0.10 ~ $1.30

>$0.44 ~ $3.24

>$0.04 ~ $0.70

>$0.03 ~ $0.70

So going for the max values, this round OP lost $3,36 with the second pack, and $8,13 total.

Ah well. I've done dumb things before too.

That's Fresh Volunteers.
Spoiler: Four lines of flavor text.

>$0.04 ~ $0.99

>$0.08 ~ $0.73
The colour on this one seems a little . . . off from what I remember.

>$0.64 ~ $2.82

>$0.04 ~ $0.80

>$0.09 ~ $0.90

So going for the max values, this round OP lost $3,76 with the third pack, and $11,89 total.

Thank you for posting, OP. I see stuff like this on ebay all the time and I know it's sellers up to no good.

Just say Deriums you faggot

Just like user above said, those were from deriums, and knowing how they put everything they do in the public eye, i would trust them.
