God it is hard to listen to the devs talk about the whole gender in games thing. Its not made any easier when i agree with what they're saying but they practically go out of their way to make it sound as retarded as possible.

So has anyone got any good examples of Devil Tigers and fan Yozi? I'm looking for inspiration for something.

Got a question. I know that Solars' shtick is power and Lunars' is versatility, but what about all of the other exalt types, including the new ones?

Thats a bit reductive but it gets the point across i guess.
Sidereals are about planning or forethought i guess. Basically they have nearly unlimited post cognition with the loom and are very good at making sure things will go the way they want with fate powers
Abyssals in previous editions were just solars but murderous edgelords but hopefully now they'll be more classy and focused on deathlords. The abyssal preview was really good
Infernals are alot like solars but more, well, infernal i guess
Everbody else is a big we dont know

lmfao @ this post from Holden:
>I see a lot of hyperbolic sneering, mostly. Including in this post. Don't see any arguments I haven't seen put forth a couple hundred times before, though, or any clear signs of understanding why things are being done the way they are-- or of any desire to understand, really.
I also see a lot of hyperbolic sneering, Holden, including in this post. Your post, that is.

What have they said this time? I've not been keeping up with the forums due to this kind of shit, and imageboards are just easier to keep up with.

Dragonblooded are the rulers of Creation and the aristocrats of the Realm, they emphasize the elements, teamwork, and with the introduction of heirloom artefacts, family ties and tradition.

Alchemicals exist only in Autochthon. They are golems/robots made out of Magical Materials and serve the state.

Exigents are one off Exalts made by a singular god for a singular purpose, there's no real template for them and there is no normal among them.

Liminals are failed attempts to bring people back to life, kind of like Frankenstein.

Finally Getimians are beings from "stillborn destines" such as the ruler of a kingdom that never existed for example. They have a miniature Loom of Fate, pattern spiders and all inside them and have equal sized Peripheral and Personal mote pools that cause different effects depending on what motes they spend activating charms. They are currently Rakan Thulio's footsoldier in his war against heaven.

Some dude had a survey done. A bunch more dudes on the forums than girls. Made threads about it that somehow derailed into massive flamewars and got deleted. I only caught the end of the second one but somehow they ended up talking about sexism and basically one of the devs was saying that the only way to have an inclusive forum is to call anyone with a dissenting opinion stupid and anything they post wrong.

That guy with the dissenting opinion was quoting people with a long history of distorting facts to support their agenda though. You may as well have a conversation on racism and try to pass off the Klan as a reputable source.

Anyways, let's not ruin a perfectly good Exalted thread with another bikini witches debate. Which martial arts combo together really well? I think someone mentioned Snake and Ebon Shadow once, how about the rest?

They are not wrong, to a degree. For their definition of inclusive.

Just went over the end of one of them. Christ, is the place always such a shithole?

Ebon Shadow goes well with Tiger due to being able to do loads of damage from Stealth. Tiger and White Reaper reward characters that have 5 points in Strength and gives them options against single targets and battlegroups. Single Point and Steel Devil both rely on their respective form charms, but if Prismatic Arrangment of Creation makes a comeback and allows the activation of multiple form styles then those two will combo hilariously well, as will others.

>another bikini witches debate.
sorry what?

Yeah thats right, but rather than just saying 'look heres where this guy is wrong' which isnt going to convince anyone who actually believes in what that guy is saying they had to phrase it as 'im going to dismiss out of hand anyone who posts opinions or evidence contrary to what i believe'

whoops, i meant just dismissing the guy isnt going to convince anyone who believes in him

Some drama bomb about stupid shit Holden said back when some concept art samples were being released.

I don't know if it came up in the last thread, but given that /exg/ can't forget, it probably did.

>Refute less, Report more.
lmao how much of a little bitchboy to the mods are these fags. Report nothing under any circumstances less than actual CP or straight-up spam.

Fandom term from the main forums for girls in official art wearing chainmail bikinis or other forms of sexy/"objectifying" armor, usually heard around here in the context of conversation about whether that's a bad thing or not. Used improperly in the above post since the topic wasn't about fanservice.

Speaking of which, what kind of character art do you guys use for Exalted? Do you lean towards conservative, practical clothes or the more revealing type? Ar the revealing clothes in line with Conan the Barbarian or is it for titillation?

Seriously though, post character art, we haven't had a good image dump in a while.

You can have ostentatious high fantasy epic clothing that suits Exalted, while still not being about titillation. If not that, then well-designed practical can give an air of competence and simplicity.

It varies. I've had swordsman characters of either sex dressed in flowing robes or full armor, I've had women in bikini armor and men dressed in less than Volfer.

My sorcerers and occultists tend to be a bit more covered up, but one Twilight who knew martial arts was shirtless under an open robe and I've used Fatima up there as a character portrait before.

The long and short of it is that it depends on the character. Granted, exposed skin isn't always for titillation, but if my handsome, ripped, bronze-skinned swordsman from the Southern deserts or buxom, rich-as-hell witch queen has Appearance 4, you can be damn sure they're going to show it off.

I try to go for evocative clothing, that informs the character. This is my current character portrait. Guess which caste I am?

...

Eclipse?

...

...

I also like portraits that paint a character's origins. Oh, your Night caste is from the South.

...

I like my Player Character's portraits to show the character's face. Unless it's a character who's mask is attached to his face.

What would the Neverborn version of Cecylene look like? Come to think of it, what would the other Yozi (excluding TED, because we already got TDTW) be like as Neverborn?

...

The neverborn typically have less flavor than the yozi. Probably due to the whole being dead thing.

For some reason I can see SWLIHN getting a name change to She Who Has Never Lived. If she ever karks it.

Veeky Forums, how would you write Master Spark as an evocation for a five dot artifact?

Cecelyne might change from silver to black, or something more in line with the Underworld. The Ebon Dragon canonically become the Dragon the was, Malfeas would go from a city to a ruin of one, Swillin might go from 9,997 orbs to just fragments of them, Szoreny's trees would just blacken, wither and die. The rest? Who knows?

I'm reading that thread, and Stephen LS using the fucking poisoned M&Ms analogy is making me angry.

>Onyx Path
So how obnoxiously political has Exalted become under those clownshoes?

the point shes trying to make kinda makes sense but the analogy is terrible. Both because the same is true of literally any people group you care to mention, yes including girls, and because there are actually fairly reliable ways of telling if a guy is going to be a dickwad

the game is mostly fine
just dont read the forums

You do realize that OPP isn't actually a different set of people than White Wolf, right?

Surprisingly not very. The Realm is still just as imperialistic and focused on their own eugenics project as they ever were, and the quality of life for the average non-exalted citizen is still better than the quality of life basically anywhere in the Threshold. The Guild hasn't gotten even more amoral since 2e. The few bits of narration dealing with that one trans Solar whose name I can't remember are handled more tastefully and subtly than I would've believed Onyx Path had in them.

Really, it depends on the group. If it's a bunch of guys having a beer and pretzels kind of group then I might go for something like this just for shits and giggles. My current group is mixed gender though, so I dial it back in the interest of not causing problems.

You sir have good taste. I remember posting that one in a previous thread.

And speaking of character art...

...

>John Morke: Charms that aid or create gambits specifically say so.

Here's a kung-fu sorcerer for that Enlightenment of the Imperfect Lotus thing that's floating around in the homebrew folder.

Natural language*!

*Shitty editing.

...

Dreaming Pearl and Crane go together well.
They share weapons (war fans) and each of the forms cost the same in motes, letting you switch at whim.
You can switch as you need to between protecting others with Crane or dealing damage and evading with Dreaming Pearl.

...

And this is how I Dawn.

It's about as obnoxious as it was in 2E so expect any future supplements to be about the writers pet socioeconomic and political hobgoblins and any over-the-top heroics or animu fightan to be treated with the contempt common of "games r art" RPG.net fuckers.

At least that jackass Holden has started being eaten by his fellow SJW crowd over "muh rape culture".

This is how I Dawn

>tfw you realize you need to buy the Melee parry Charms to actually get any mileage out of Gathering Light Concentration for your Single Point specialist but you don't have Melee as a favored because you have Brawl instead.

Anyone know if any 2E splats have any statted up elemental dragons?

How are the new mechanics?
As shitty as nWoD where a starting character is many times weaker than regular Human cops and less clever than their dogs?
Or are you actually allowed to make powerful characters who aren't immediately constrained by bullshit metaplot this time?

Mechanics handle like a dream for the most part.
The pitfalls aren't as bad as they were in 2e, and you can generally make a character with less pressure to be perfectly built and optimised for all possible threats.
There's a few optional subsystems that are a bit messy and contentious though.
Plus some pretty basic houserules adopted by a lot of people.

>over-the-top heroics or animu fightan to be treated with the contempt
That's why we have things like Ascendant Battle Visage. Or Single Point Shining Into the Void Style. Or whole bunch of other over-the-top, anime-inspired effects. Do I need to mention sex Charms?

>Do I need to mention sex Charms?
In two different abilities no less. And Single Point isn't so much "inspired" by Kenshin as it is Hiten Mitsurugi simply being ported wholesale into the setting.

Hell, with Supernal abilities, you can reach straight for the anime bullshit powers out the gate if you're focused.

The basic system is functional and, dare I say, even fun. There are flaws, but they tend to be more in edge cases, such as how individual Charms interact with one another, or how some of the sub-systems can break down if you jangle them too hard. But the core system is actually fairly solid.

What's stopping you from bumping up your parry with an excellency?

Roll of Glorious Divinity: Wind Masters (Lesser ELemental Dragon of Air, p90-93) Quicksilver Queen (Earth, Lesser, p100-102), Kukla (Earth, Greater, p102-103), Jealous Saffron Rage (Fire, Lesser, p113-115), Ogime (Water, Lesser, p123-124), Joyous Youth Juritsu (Wood, Lesser, p131-134).

>What's stopping you from bumping up your parry with an excellency?
The fact that I can bump my dodge higher, and without a giant mote sink, thanks to Flow Like Blood and Reed in the Wind.

>Splats
>a bunch of books listed that aren't Caste Books or Aspect Books

When did splatbook turn into a synonym for sourcebook?

Ten years ago, at least? Where have you been?

Combat can be your character's 2nd most potent talent and you can still take on small armies if you're moderately clever with charm selection.

i'm ERP garbage but i try not to use actual hentai doujin shit like i've seen others do because of the association that tends to cause. which i guess is ironic.

basically i save everything in the character art threads no matter how slut-tier it is because that'd help my case. but i inevitably use the more toned-down stuff.

the rare time i can actually use things like pic related, though, i enjoy

...

Got any more like that? I'm trying to find art of Brawl-focused martial artists and all I can find is generic monks and such.

Fewer than I'd like, but I'll see what I can do.

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

This is the last I've got. Hope something here helped.

I've always been partial to this one, but it's hard to look at Asura and think of him as anything other than an Infernal.

Thank you kindly user, some of those are quite good.

...

So I'm making a character for a Western campaign right now. How good are Sail charms, and is it worth having as a supernal? Do any martial arts fit the concept of a pirate solar, maybe Steel Devil?

Also, post solar pirates! Preferably with eyepatches.

I'm also appreciating the brawley monk dump.

...

...

...

...

Most of my pirate stuff is from Black Flag. Edward Kenway is totally some kind of Lunar to be using all the weapons he does with the skill that he does while also being a ninja pirate.

Trying to bring the Landship from Old McDonald's Codex into 3e.

What's a decent rating for it?

Also, is the Sail Charm discount of 2m something that should exist in 3e?

Pg. 38 of the Codex for reference.

You are retarded.

>jyenicolson.net/exalted/

is 404'd. Update the OP next time please. Is there a different tutorial somewhere?

Sail is generally regarded as being very strong, helped by the fact that you can make use out of them without ever touching a boat.

What kind of pirate are you? How doing envision your character fighting? Fastest man with a cutlass? Single Point. Unmatched with a flintlock? Righteous Devil. Singing people to death with sea shanties? Nightengale. Unmatched strength, speed, and brutality? Tiger.

Steel Devil is very powerful, but it doesn't shine until you find a way to stack on dice penalties.

As someone who is friends with people who are friend with the creators, I can with authority say I don't know.

Not any more than 1E or 2E, which is amazing considering OPP's tendency to shit the bed with this sort of thing over in WoDland, such as with Beast.

Sounds like an easy four.

I could just about kick myself for not thinking of this sooner.

If you're thinking Kenshin and Single Point, what's the most obviously Solar inspiration you can dredge up? Probably this guy, right?

anybody have examples of devil tigers they've made?

wanna share?

Monday Meeting's in. Backer charms are in Approvals. What was it last week?
