You are Captain SAMANTHA WELLINGS, a newly minted captain of the Centauri Accord!
Currently, you've managed to apprehend Artya, who turns out to have been part of your sister Carly's pirate crew. This gave you a prime opportunity to lure your wayward sister out and confront her directly. However, there was the issue of whether you wanted to report this to your superiors first or not. If you did, you'd be able to enlist some more help. However, if they knew your sister was a pirate... that could complicate things down the line...
"Captain, everything's packed up and ready to go." Bradford announces over the comms. "Amy's getting ready to set course. Where do you want to go?"

"We need to start setting up our 'reunion' with Carly." You say to your First Mate. We need to pick a good place we can engage her at, if needed."
"Captain, I highly suggest that we report this back to-"
"They don't need to know." You cut him off. "This is something we can handle on our own. You remember we're allowed a wide amount of discretion, right?"
"Of course, Captain." Bradford nods, forced to defer to your judgment.
"Now, Elizabeth." You turn to your resident spy. "You know the lay of the land here better than any of us. You know of any good places to stage an ambush?"
"Well, that would depend." Elizabeth puts a finger to her chin. "There are places that are full of space debris that we can hide in, but generally pirates are much better suited to fighting in those conditions. They're the ambush specialists, after all. Luring her into open space would be the better bet, but she'd see us much sooner and would have a chance to run if she wanted to. Plus, we don't even know the capabilities of her ship."
"Hmmm, that's true." You frown.
"I mean, we could always try to interrogate that Artya girl again, if she's willing to talk." Elizabeth shrugs.

"Hm, well, I guess we can go through another round of questioning with Arty first, get the lowdown on Carly's ship." You nod as you call up the infirmary. "Natalia, how's our patient doing?"
"She's stable." Natalia responds smoothly. "Undergoing treatment right now."
"Is she in a condition to talk?"
"Hm, well, I suppose I can wake her up, yes." Natalia confirms.
"All right, we're heading down now." You tell her. Get her ready."
"Of course, Captain."
"Captain, who exactly do you plan to get to talk to her?" Elizabeth asks before you leave. "The choice of who asks the questions is just as important as the question itself..."

"I'll handle it, thanks." You say to Elizabeth. You were absolutely sure that Elizabeth would get answers, but what you weren't too sure about was her methods. You didn't actually want to HURT Artya or anything.
And there was no way you were going to leave her along in a room with Tank. You weren't sure why, but just the thought of it made you incredibly angry.
You return to the infirmary, where you find Natalia and Tank both standing watch over Atya's unconscious body, now clothed in a medical gown and covered in a blanket. You could see some tubes and sensors attached to her body, but otherwise she looked perfectly fine. Her gas mask was still worn over her face, with Natalia apparently not bothering to take it off.
"Ah, Captain." Natalia nods as you approach. "I'll begin administering the awakening agent. She'll be up and about in a minute or two."
Tank then steps up, asking whether you wanted a guard detail.
You look at him and then back at Artya. Even if it was Tank, you were sure that heaving multiple people confronting her would just scare or agitate Artya...

"All right, you two can stay here and keep an eye on her." You nod to Tank and Natalia. "Just... just don't make her feel cornered, all right? At least keep SOME distance."
"As you wish, Captain." Natalia smiles.
Tank salutes.
That's when you notice that Artya's arms and legs were strapped to the bed, restraining her movements.
"A precaution, of course." Natalia explains.

You decide to undo the restraints on Artya. You wanted to her believe that she was a guest, not a prisoner. Natalia and Tank shoot your curious looks, but a confident nod from you reassures them that you know what you're doing.
Artya then begins to stir, her masked head slowly and blearily rising as she came back to her sense. You back off a bit to give he some space as Artya finally takes in her surroundings. The scavenger girl then freezes when she remembers her predicament, but to her credit and your relief, she doesn't try and sudden moves. Instead, she sits there, the blank lenses in her mask staring at you. You gently hand back her small homemade datapad. She quickly snatches it out of your hand and starts typing furiously on it.
WHERE AM I?
"Still on the ship." You tell her.
Artya's head swivels around, realizing she's still in the infirmary and seeing Tank and Natalia standing behind you like sentinels.
ARE YOU GOING TO KILL ME?
"Oh, of course not!" You shake your head. "I just want to ask some questions about my dear sister."
I WON'T TALK. Artya declares. I'M NOT A SNITCH.

"Artya," You take a deep sigh, letting all semblance of military order and discipline flow out of your body like water. You were no longer an officer of the Accord Navy. You were just a girl looking for her long lost sister. "I just want to find my sister. That's all I'm asking. Can you help me out on this?"
Artya pauses and just stares at you with her blank lenses, as if trying to figure out whether you were being genuine with this or not. Thankfully, the fact that you were asking as a PERSON and not a SOLDIER seemed to appease her somewhat.
PROMISE YOU WON'T HURT HER?
"Why would I want to?" You raise an eyebrow. "I'll probably spank her ass till it turns into a red giant, but I just want to get her home."
Artya seems to pause, as if trying to come to terms with the competing interests of helping her Captain's sister as well as not being a snitch at the same time.
OKAY. ONE QUESTION. Artya writes. JUST ONE.

"I need to know more about her ship." You tell her. "It's strengths, its weaknesses, so I know how to best fight and disable it."
Artya looks at you, most likely with an incredulous expression behind her mask.
"Look, I think we both very well know that Carly isn't going to take the diplomatic route, even if it's me involved, so we'll have to accept we'll be shooting at each other at some point. Telling me about her ships will give us a better chance at ending things quicker and making sure that she doesn't get killed in the process."
Artya continues to have that uncertain body language...

Finally, Arty seems to cave, and her shoulders slump as she taps at her datapad, displaying a small hologram of a ship blueprint. It was a destroyer sized ship, though on the smaller end of the destroyer spectrum. It also looked rather ramshackle.
THE LONG CLAW. Artya explains. A HEGEMONY PROTOTYPE SHIP FELICITY STOLE AND THEN CARLY STOLE.
"So, what exactly can it do?" You frown, examining the blueprint.
PRIMARY ARMAMENT IS MULTIPLE RAPID FIRE HEAVY MASS DRIVER CANNONS. DESIGNED TO OVERWHELM ENEMY DEFENSES. ONLY DRAWBACK IS THAT IT IS FORWARD FACING.
Huh, just like your ion cannon, you suppose.
MISSILE RACKS TO PROTECT THE FLANKS AS WELL.
"Speed? Maneuverability?"
VERY GOOD FOR A HEGEMONY SHIP. WE REMOVED SOME OF THE ARMOR PANELS AND REPLACED THEM WITH SHIELDS TO LOWER WEIGHT.
Well damn. You also get the feeling the Long Claw has more tricks Artya wasn't divulging.

Dominic Adams
Good, good, roll out all the shitty rolls before combat...
That being said, I wonder what happens if we fire the Ion cannon at her at the same time she fires the mass-driver shots at us. I think the solid shots would be melted, but the kinetic energy would still be somewhat retained as high-speed molten metal. Then again, the ion cannon is probably also better at killing shields while the cannon is meant to go through armor.
Carter Collins
You know what they say about copying being a form of flattery.
Chase Collins
A mutual kill. The molten metal shreds the ion cannon while the mass drivers get slagged and their armor melts.
After a moment of dumbfounded relief, both ships bust out the missile swarms.
Blake Gomez
And when both sides run out of missiles, one of the ships' sides opens up and launches fighter craft

"Thanks for the info." You smile and nod. You then turn back to Natalia. "Nat, make continue with the treatment. And keep an eye on her. I don't think she'll try anything, but be careful, okay?"
"Of course, Captain." Natalia nods.
"Tank, be on standby. We might need you muscle in the coming reunion. I hope we don't, but..."
Tank nods in understanding.
You then return to the bridge, where the rest of your crew is waiting.
"Well, what's the plan then?" Elizabeth asks with a smile. "I hope you got some useful intel."
>We'll confront her in open space. She only has mass drivers so we'll have the range advantage. >We'll confront her in a debris field. Her arc of fire is limited and I think our ship has the better maneuverability. >Other
Eli Reyes
I was thinking that our missiles are more pointed directly to the port and starboard sides, whereas Carly's ship was angled towards the front.
>>We'll confront her in a debris field. Her arc of fire is limited and I think our ship has the better maneuverability.
