Shinobi Quest #13

Shinobi Quest #13

This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.

(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime watched the last two matches of the chunin exams- Naruto vs. Sai, and Naruto vs. Neji. With Naruto coming out the overall victor, the crowd had erupted in thunderous applause….

You return to your seat, the adrenaline pumping through your veins leaving you, now that the battle had finished. You sigh.

Danzo, meanwhile, finishes the last of his takoyaki.

“A shame,” he says after a few moments. “The Hyuga boy almost had him. Unfortunately, he made a fatal mistake- never underestimate your foes. Just because you’ve won the battle doesn’t mean you’ve won the war. Learn from his mistake, Tsuki-dono.”

“Yes, Danzo.” you respond, your voice somewhat distant.

What that correct, though? Had Neji really underestimated Naruto?

You…

1. Agree with his review of the match- Neji was overconfident
2. Disagree, Naruto tricked him somehow
3. Disagree. Obviously it was rigged for Minato’s son to win.

But I think more what let him down was that he was too focused on what lay behind the fight, not rooted firmly in the now, he looked to far beyond and missed his chance, such a shame

Overwhelmingly A.

Bugger

Yes, he had. Although they were teammates….

“He was too focused on what what lay beyond his victory- too confident that his righteous cause would be enough for the world to validate him.” You finish.

Danzo chuckles. “And what has this taught you, young mistress?”

“That the world will never had us a victory- no matter why we fight. Trust in your abilities, but trust in your opponent's ability as well.” you answer in a flat tone.

Danzo looks you in eyes, and holds the gaze.

“Take this lesson to heart. Many have fallen to the hubris that their cause is truly righteous.”

As many recent times have, this moment has become rather somber.

As you sit in silence, you see many people beginning to file out of the arena- back to their daily lives; here, or elsewhere.

“Do you wish to head home, Tsuki-dono?” Danzo asks, finally breaking the silence.

You…

1. Do. You’re exhausted, and you’ll probably resume missions tomorrow.
2. No, you want to see someone… (Who?)

Unless were gonna have a spa day with Danzo, we should just wrap it up.

In the meantime think up a humbling speech for Neji to take to heart.

I don't we should. Shouldn't we give Hinata every chance we can give her?

Sleepytimes ahead.

With what? I can't tell.

“Yes, Danzo. Today’s events have worn on me- let’s head home.” you sigh.

He smiles, and offers you his hand…

You returned home to find a note from Itachi-sensei in the foyer…

“Mission tomorrow. Village gate- 10 am.”

Simple, and to the point. That’s rather late in the day, though. Why would we be leaving so late?

Oh well, no use worrying about it now.
You head upstairs, towards your room. As you turn into the hallway, you can see the door to your father’s office open.

You…

1. Head to bed. Time for some beauty rest.
2. Go talk with father.

>2. Go talk with father.
A nice chat about today's event.

>2. Go talk with father.

>1. Head to bed. Time for some beauty rest.

plenty of rest

Rolled 16 (1d100)

>1. Head to bed. Time for some beauty rest.
Try to see if we can form 2 shadow clones, just once. Just to see if we can. Then hit the sack.

>2. Go talk with father.

>2. Go talk with father.

>2. Go talk with father.

nah.

>2. Go talk with father.
Lets see what happened with the Snow Nin and all that shit.

We really need to fuck with our dad with shadow clones someday.
>Have one clone leave the room while another enters from somewhere else.
Show up with a clone next to us and act like it's not there.

Daddy-daughter time!

Writing.

>We really need to fuck with our dad with shadow clones someday.

Not our dad.

Future Husbando, sure.

But not Yoru.

I'm I had this weird mistake go on where I thought I read your post as "fuck with our dad", then "realized" I read "fuck our dad".

Then after posting I realized it's actually "fuck with" and not "fuck".

You’re tired, but you want to see father- not that he’ll care all too much about the day’s proceedings, since you were not taking part.

His single-mindedness can be endearing, if only slightly overbearing.

You meander over to the door and give it a quick rapping with your fist, to signal your approach.

“Come in, my dear.” Father says. He sounds perplexed- not an emotion common to him.

You enter you find your father in his chair, cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He’s leaning over his desk, with books piled to either side of him. You can see his trash bin overflowing with crumpled pieces of parchment.

He also isn’t wearing a shirt.

You guess that if you had arrived an hour earlier, his door would have been shut. Father is rather…. intense, when it comes to serious research.

“Come, my daughter, and see your father’s grand mechanical dream- the only one I’ve failed to make into glorious reality. Come see my biggest failure.”

Your approach- and see a piece of artistry so precise and beautiful, so complex, that puts that boy Sai’s ink-fox demon to shame.

A grand ship, affixed with great amounts of machinery and cannon. Propellers, turbines, and various other apparatus.

There are notes everywhere- written every which way. Some look nearly as old as you, ink smudged and cracked with age. Others look relatively new, written over old notations.

It occurs to you that you probably haven’t studied the family business as much as you should- you’re almost entirely lost.

You….

1. Ask about the blueprints
2. Change the topic to the day’s events- might as well get his mind off of it.
3. Ask about something else, such as Doto and the Snow Shinobi.
>Write-In

>2. Change the topic to the day’s events- might as well get his mind off of it.

Offer to help him figure out how to make the ship work

>1. Ask about the blueprints

>1. Ask about the blueprints

For some reason I imagined the ship being powered by Rock Lee in a hamster wheel.

>1. Ask about the blueprints
Is this the vessel lacking a power supply?

>4. Take an intreast in the family business
Sit and daddy's lap and let him vent some, lets learn a little about our inheritance. Maybe ask him about Ninja puppets, if we were to get into them could he provide some gadgets and building materials?

>That spoiler
Kek.

Voting for this

Time to learn the family business.

Writing.

You walk up to his desk, take the cigarette out of his mouth, putting it out on the ashtray, and settle down unto his lap.

It’s been awhile since you’ve sat like this- it’s nice.

You point down at the blueprint. “Explain. My father is not so weak as to be defeated by a mere technical setback!

You feel his laughter before you hear it- the rumbles rising within his chest.

“My shinobi princess wants to know about her father’s designs after all? Maybe I can make a convert of you yet.”

He quickly lifts the parchment, holding it a distance from your face, giving you a better view.

“The Oni-class Aerial Warship. The first of it’s kind- a technical marvel that could command the skies. Bringing not only safe and efficient travel across our world, but bringing true and practical defense to people across it. It would be revolutionary- change the course of human development! Just imagine what we could accomplish!”

“Of course, the thing is too heavy. Conventional engines, like those that power the naval warships I’ve designed previously, are far too cumbersome, and the weight of the fuel required to lunch the ship alone would be too much. I need the perfect power source- light, efficient, and packed with enough energy to keep the ship aloft to travel between ports.”

“It is… probably impossible, I know.” he finally finishes.

inb4 Stellar release is the needed fuel source

Called it! Fusion power is go!

can it fit in a summon scroll?

“As a boy, during the Second Shinobi World War, I saw those men and women- Sky shinobi they were called- with strange gliders and a great floating city. They sent balloons after them- balloons! It made no sense- they were eviscerated by the quick, maneuverable personal aircraft. The balloons were basically defenseless.” he explains.

“Eventually they were repelled- their great city flying off to disappear into parts unknown. The Third said it was powered by some sort of demon- surely they misunderstood! They knew how to make such wondrous things! It was then I decided I would make them myself- improve them! I’d show everyone that this technology would liberate us! Machines simply perform the function presented to them- they are no more monsters than man himself.”

“I’ve made a great many things since that day- all as fuel, as a continuation of my dream to finish this ship to sail the skies. But, I’ve never found a way for it to be free of this damn paper, to take flight into the great sky above. I’ve been able to accomplish so much- but every time I return to this, my original dream- I am further disheartened. Nobody has ever been able to help me, or to solve my issue- no second set of eyes, no rich and power benefactor.”

“None of them.” he says, deflated.

You…

1. Encourage him
2. Promise to find a way to power it
3. Tell him you want to learn his trade
4. Let him down easy.

>2. Promise to find a way to power it
>3. Tell him you want to learn his trade

Regardless of how many generations will fail! The Norihime clan will have a flying machine

>1. Encourage him
>2. Promise to find a way to power it
>3. Tell him you want to learn his trade
The Norihime WILL take to the skies Father.

>2. Promise to find a way to power it
>3. Tell him you want to learn his trade

>2. Promise to find a way to power it
>3. Tell him you want to learn his trade
We're not going to discover nukes, right? That will ruin the Narutoverse

We will pluck the stars from the night sky!

>their great city flying off to disappear into parts unknown.

Bioshock: Infinite?

>1. Encourage him
>2. Promise to find a way to power it
>3. Tell him you want to learn his trade
Honestly why not either...
A) Capture a tailed beast to chakra power it
B) Run it on chakra from the crew

Zerotails, I think. Some movie thing.

I'm sure Wargle isn't that bad a writer

The Tsuchigumo Clan's Fury Jutsu.

Show him sun powers.

Wait a minute, that meme...

>implying bad writing.

Never heard of it.

I don't know what you're talking about.

(I seriously don't)

. Tell him you want to learn his trade
Hope this leads us towards some puppet things. We got production capacity, Danzo will get us a great teacher and Tsuki can personalize them crafting them. This is Tsuki's art, a beautiful symphony of metal, the uniformity and cleanness, the elegance in design and the endurance to last forever.

This is our Art

Infinite just wasn't that good

People chill with the puppets. When it comes time to train bring it up then otherwise please don't bring it up as it will turn others against it.

Sorry, my cross board faggotry is showing.

Fair enough.

/v/?

The world was beautiful, the concept sound. But i hoped it'd be more open world like and not as linear. Then it just went full "too deep for you".

2 & 3.

Also, are you suggesting a power source?

1. Yes (Tailed Beast)
2. Yes (Stellar Chakra)
3. Yes (Other)
4. No

Fuck puppets, christ they're dumb.

Too late mate, one look in the archives will have people mad, it pissed me off.

For now say nothing, dont reveal Stellar yet.

>3. Yes (Other)

I know. But I would like to try them out.

>4. No

>4. No

Meant to add Rock Lee and Might Guy in two very large hamster wheels?

>4. No
Hush hush for now until we learn what he has tried so far.

>4. No

Mention our interest in puppets.

Our dad is Narutony Stark, we can't not have him help us kick-ass puppets.

>For now say nothing, dont reveal Stellar yet.
I get not for the power source, but why are we keeping it a secret from Dad?

>not wanting to make a puppet version of pic related

Seconding

OOC you realize that all we need to do is tell Lee we doubt that he can do it, right? Simple tricks for simple minds.

Backing this one

Angle based puppets are cool, but Stand based puppets are cooler

You know what's better than either? Summoning contracts and actually useful ninjutsu.

>4. No

>Let never do anything different, lets always play a jutsu focused ninja with summons

But muh puppets...

How else are we going to be super JoJo Stand girl?

>Being different for the sake of being different.

Wew lad.

>let's do something retarded for the sake of being different!

Sorry, but no.

What about Colossi based puppets?

Let's not be the same fucking character as Kon or Takeshi.
