This was one of the few oglaf posts to do sorta well what SMBC always does. Pick a stupid/random concept of trope from somewhere and expand on its not usually explored logical consequences.
A world where all females look alike, and they happen to share mostly the stronger traits of human females, means that a guy just looks like a weird flatchested girl to them. Skin colored, but if humans have fetishes for blue chicks, chicks with pointy ears, and chicks with fire hair, not so crazy to think the other races might dig round ear "chicks", beige-skin ones.

Oglaf went downhill. I actually like the early works, with the apprentice and stuff. There was the right balance of sexy and funny. Now there seems to be a lot of unfunny jokes that aren't sexy enough. And unsexy jokes that aren't really funny. For someone who used to have both, it's sorta sad.

Seems like it would be a human woman's dream world. All of a sudden, men become a valuable scare commodity to protect, while females conduct all diplomatic affairs with other races, form armies to defend their resources, and they still get to have all sorts of interspecies fun because at least they look enough like the females of other species to be "close enough."

so in it's own self contained universe, they where already depicted as having genders.
There is no such thing as a 'standard fantasy setting' that everyone has to adhere to, so anyone who gets angry over the Dryad and Ent, being paired together is confirmed for having autism.
