Berserk RPG?

Is Warhammer Fantasy RPG something that would work for a homebrew Berserk RPG? Or is there a system that better handles large formations and giant monsters?

WFRPG isn't particularly good at large battle formations, and you sure as shit won't be as badass as Guts is when facing giant monsters.
Giant monsters KILL you in WFPRG, and frequently weather or not you're strong enough to survive it depends on luck and how lenient your GM is willing to be about how many enemies you fight and how much experience you get and how powerful of equipment he's willing to give you.

People say Dark Heresy is tough, but much like all of 40k, Dark Heresy is Bitch Mode compared to WFRPG.

I feel liek WFRPG might be good for a non-heroic Berserk experience though, like if you were Rickert or any of the minor Midland knights. I mean, if you're not part of Guts' New Party you're not going to be fighting Apostles or creatures from the Astral Realm unless it's set after the Conviction Arc or Falconia is founded.

Did they do everything in 3D? It looks like fucking shit.

Ok, stay with me here. I have no experience with the Warhammer rpg so I can't answer that and I am sorry.

But I've always thought that a combat system that fits the Berzerk style would be second edition Ironclaw. Now yes, it is furry. But I highly recommend grabbing a PDF and having a look yourself. But it's fast paced, has plenty of defensive and defensive options. the system has a class system but really in name only, after the initial choice you can improve your character in any way you want.

And if your super bothered by furry shit then you can reflavour the species options into clans, noble houses or something. But you would be missing out on a rad species system that lets you rip people apart with your bear claws.

I'm bad at explaining why I think it's good but I'll try if people want more.

Yes. The funny thing is that these same scenes in the episode were recreated for the PS4 Berserk Dynasty Warriors and look so much better.

not only that, the framerate of the CGI shit is really low (like 20 FPS or thereabouts), so it looks like sutter shit AND it makes many viewers nauseous. they really screwed the pooch in like every possible direction with the new show :(

Kotakusaid that this new, modern Berserk is way better than the 90s anime. Especially because it shows a shota being beat up instead of a bar girl being sexually abused.

Anima low level magic, not even memeing.

What is Anima? I've heard one of my friends mention it before.

>Did they do everything in 3D?
Yeah. Even though I'm not a fan of the 3D fad, this wouldn't be bad per se. It's just that their 3D art would look revolutionary on a first generation playstation.

>Kotaku
Helping me lose my faith in womankind since 2004. I feel like vomiting up some bad CGI.

weabo fightan magic made by spaniards

Violent, gory and all sorts of horrible to live through?

FATAL if it had better mechanics.

Why would you even want to play a campaign based on Berserk? The setting only serves to contrast the mary stu self insert protagonists, so you're either going to end up with a campaign where a DMPC does everything or an retarded power level battle that rivals the autism of Berserk itself.

>Start low-fantasy/no-magic
>Introduce concepts of druidic spiritualism versus pseudo-Christian faith
>Suddenly demons
It'd be interesting.

Is it any good?

What about Lamentations of the Flame Princess?

I did find it pretty fun but it was my first RPG and we didn't even play it that much due to scheludes.

But yeah, was entertaining since the DM that time was really experienced and showed us the ropes patiently.

But there was a woman dragged into an alley to be raped and killed in the new one, and Guts didn't even stop that one.

Nice and good idea

If you want the PCs to be like secondary Berserk characters, WFRP does it well.

If you want your PCs to be like Guts and actually be badasses within the setting, pretty much any RPG with high powered martials will do it.

>Is it any good?
The English translation ranges from okay to awful, but the system's solid.

I'm already feeling bad.

Post that rabbit.

Finish me.

Yay, I get to post the rabbit again.

Dear god, it took me literally 5 seconds to google "jumping hare" and see how their body works. Weeb shits who did this should go back to drawing shitty porn.

I don't know what to do, cry because how awful it is or laught my ass off due to how awful it is.

hot opinions m8

Man, if Guts is a self-insert Mary Sue then Miura's life must fucking suck balls because right now the ONE thing Guts is good at (killing things) makes him completely useless at almost everything else he needs to do in his life.

Currently his track record is "successfully kills the monsters, still utterly fails at accomplishing the things that are important to him anyway".

Fantasy Craft with some Setting Rules thrown in to bring it closer to Berserk's atmosphere would work well.

I must say that girl was less creepy when she was posessed. Her empty eyes and bad animation keep giving me chills everytime I see this piece of shit. She looks like hellish monster in a ripped off skin of a human girl.

If you want a low magic grim fantasy then WFRP or WFB is for you.

WFRP is about you average(or slight above) people doing awesome stuff with high chance to die horribly in process.
End game WFRP characters are still human, very skilled and dangerous but within human level and can die easily.

WFRP is not suited to run large engagement, that is why in 1ed of WFRP author suggest running bigger skirmishes and battles by using WFB. 3ed if I remember correctly is what 1ed of WFRP is based on.
But it needs to be kept in mind that heroes in WFB can be THE HEROES above common mooks and soldiers.

Oh, it's Japanese? Fuck that, they only use d6s.

What edition of WFB though?

My gm is running a Not-Berserk game using Savage worlds.
We've not gotten to fight big old monster yet but it seems to work.

If basic reading is too hard for you, I doubt you can handle Anima.

>Thinking Kotaku can be consistent in any way

what gives you this hope

Even the writing is pretty terribad too, with pacing issues and them jumping around all over the goddamn place.

Fucking Holy See became a main point by the end of the first episode. Where do you go from there, fight Mozgus in ep2 and get off the boat in ep3? I understand not wanting to do the Golden Age arc which is what literally every other animated adaptation has exclusively covered, but jesus christ they're skipping a lot of really really cool shit.

And what the fuck was up with the tree fight? Not only was it out of place and weird on its own, I literally could not tell what was going on in the fight beside the shoehorned-in use of the arm cannon. At the end, did Guts just... hold his sword in front of him and run at the tree? Was that shit wind? I don't have enough booze to watch it again.
