Any more opinions about the heavy support Malcador?

We'll see.
Also, some legions have only 2 specific units, while others have 3. Will that be fixed in the next book? (or at least in the DA/WS/BA book?)

Mostly loaded down with Vindicators and Havocs, followed by more single units like a Basilisk, Deredeo, etc... Between the legion uniques and IW generally having a hard-on for armour I end up running out of room, and just want more big guns.

My usual opponents would be fine with it, still feels kind of wrong to 'circumvent' the official rules even if has it right.

Anyone know what book Contemptor Cortus dreads are in? And are they any good with Dual Chainfists w/Meltaguns, if that's possible?

Well it does feel like RAI, and it's technically RAW atm, so, a gentleman's agreement would be factible. Nice.

Oh, you're right but I was just making that list out of what I had in my shopping cart, but that does seem like a good idea to give him an Iron Halo.

Maybe wait and see if they change it in the new book. At the moment it's 300pts. stock (235, I believe, for Army), can't get AV14 front, etc.

If I took my Militia Malcador and used it as is in a Marine army (without AV14, of course), it'd cost 80pts. more.

>People don't realize how OP the ability to take siege tyrants as troops is OP as hell

RAW only normal Legion Terminators can be taken as troops anyway IIRC, not legion-specific ones.

Book 6. Not sure if dual chainfists is needed, when you get the +1 just for having a chainfist and a normal fist. You could, of course, model them as two chainfists.

Shhh! I think they're cool.
And they're busy competing with my Heavy Support slots with my HSS.

That, and they still don't have their own model yet.

Is there any stories/fluff detailing the process of adding bionics/augmentations to a person? My eye doctor appointment for tomorrow got me thinking.

RAW
RAW
FIGHT DA POWAH

Ah, I don't have book VI, only LACAL, Book V, and AoD Legions.

Nope, special legion terminators can be taken as troops. So justaerin, red butchers, phoenix guards can all be troops. Of course none of those can fire 20 krak missiles on a relentless platform per turn.

There's simply not enough slots for everything, I'm afraid. There's plenty of units I've not taken because I just don't got the slots and I have this thing about not taking more units than I have FOC slots. I like the idea of fielding everything I have at once without the need for Unbound.

Havocs should probably be in the elites slot.
>Havocs are BS 5 (you know, good shots, like elites are supposed to be)
>Allows one to effectively double up on heavy support squads
>Tyrants aren't competing against (and thus fully replacing) generic legion terminators

So I've been working on making an Alpha Legion list that is not dependant on infiltrate mutable tactics to give me an edge of unpredictability again, and I want to know what you guys think-
What I've come up with is
Praetor
10 tacticals in rhinos w/ extra ccw x3
Pyroclasts x7 Inna proteus,
1 deredeo with plasma,
2 sicarans with Las

and the optional units are either
10 destroyers with jump packs and a lone exodus,
20 headhunters,
or 10 termies and a primus, and swap the Praetor with Dynat
Thoughts?

No thank you, please. They're fine where they are.

I feel like IW should have a RoW that is like The Reaping, bringing HW and Havocs as non compulsory troops and stuff.

>you know, good shots, like elites are supposed to be

Then why does the elite slot contain medics and light field artillery pieces, if it's suppose to be super fancy special elite stuff?

How about making Havocs compulsory, but keeping Tyrants non-compulsory, meaning someone would have to fill up their required slots before taking them.

Eh, even if both were kept non-compulsory I'd take it.

But without despoiler taxicals, what would you be throwing to the walls?

Elites seems to mostly be attached assets. Elite units sent to fight alongside but not under a unit, as well as say an attached medical or repairs unit. Odds are every company doesn't have up to 40 destroyers or terminators, those guys are sent to help a company that needs the assistance of specialist assets.

Regardless tyrants as elites is really fucking OP. Just take 3 squads of ten and you get 60 BS 4 krak missiles on relentless platforms with a 2+/4++ save at like 1600 points. You will pretty much kill everything that is within 48" of your army instantly. Up to 10 krak missile hits on a flyer per turn, 6.666 HP stripped off an AV 14 vehicle per turn. Just get some rapiers or sicaran venators to kill heavy tanks and vindicators that might threaten your termies and you are good.

First for VULKAN LIVES

Wait, I went on YouTube and I can't find the HH painting videos?

Why artillery shells of course.

From GW?

youtube.com/watch?v=rAbkWeJK8As&index=1&list=PLEaPE4sLDA7usUQ8psGAENPYZs3XjZgsi

Yeah, I went on their YouTube channel on my computer and it wasn't there, however?

You?

Are there any simple methods of increasing the quality of your first models?

Practice?

>>If I can't throw men at walls, then what should I throw?
>Why artillery shells of course
>>Shells...filled with marines!
>Perty nooo!
>>And we can throw both shells and marines at the same time! I'm brilliant. Maybe I'll find some more uses for Boops later
>*comes from under a metal box* Well, deepstriking boops would be too easy. Kept you waiting, huh?

If I were to run a Black Reaving, would I be running Reavers as my compulsory troops or does that need to be specified? I've never been clear on that, despite working on 3 legions.

In one old thread that was the way IW assault marines was determined to work.

The videos are unlisted, user. You won't find them by browsing.

I did say FIRST models, implying there have been no previous attempts made.

malcadors are garbage

Why are they unlisted and how to find them?

Well shoot, son, I can't think of anything besides watch videos.

BOLS has them all posted on their site. It's just a playlist of WE, WB, UM, SoH, and DG. I've only looked at the WB, SoH, and WE. All I have to say about them is that the WB scheme is too bright and would serve better as a TS or BA scheme. SoH and WE are great.

That sounds kinda like the Angry Marines.
>>I'll name this move...Ride the Fire...uhh, something...Iron...I'll figure it out later

It was so absolutely retarded to make salamanders caucasians with pitch black skin.

Salamanders were always space marine niggas

Huh.

Here's hoping Duncan does some nice IW and RG vids!

Ooga booga where da relics at

Don't bring this issue up again, user. We already agreed on threads past that 30/40k diversity were actually disguised white people.
Blacks were dusty whites, asians were squinting whites and so on.

For example airbrushing can net decent results without much experience. Dry brushing and washes, things that have low skill ceilings and low skill floors, oh you apply them X and get Y result without too much room for error. The nature of the technique must be simple yet yield excellent results.

You would think that Rowboat hadn't named that until the Heresy was over, or that one of the other Primarchs thought of it.

Everyone thinks airbrushing is some magic cheater wand but I'll tell you this right now, if you aren't going to become a serious airbrusher, it is not worth spending hundreds of dollars and all the time it takes to clean, maintain, and change colors when using them to buy one just to airbrush or do some shitty zenithals. You can do that with rattle cans.

I just always figured that it was a joke about Salamander minis having caucasian facial features.

WE WUZ SPESS MUHREENS

they shouldve just made the salamanders white.

Thin your paints.

Special Edition of the new Red Book is sold out. Really fucking glad I ordered it last night.

Your both morons.
Our modern notions of races are obsolete when talking about the 31st millenium. Look how much has chaned since the roman empire till today, only around 2000 years.
Peoples of the steppe ousted anatolians. Egyptians are now mostly arabic. Most semetic races, like the jews, are a bastardized mix of classical semetic people and europeans. Most Mediterranean countries, like greece and italy, have a very good amount of traits and genes that orginated from middle east. New world peoples are practically gone, either replaced with europeans or a mix of the two (like hispanics).

Caucasians, blacks, asians, hispanics, all terms that would be basically useless in age of darkness

its the imperium of MAN not the imperium of subhuman. checkmate

This needs to be added to the OP.

This isn't the first time someone has tried posting this. And this lead to Hot Pockets being Hot Pockets.

What needs to be added is an explanation for how to open the damn thing.

I saw another user in the last thread complaining that literally no reader or converter can handle this file, and I'm getting the exact same thing.

>epub
:(

It really depends on when all the colony ships left earth and what things were like (politically) at the time. If it's within a few thousand years, today's races will still exist but it's impossible to predict if colonizing missions will be mixed or not. Genetic diversity is helpful for small populations, but if countries still exist then it's more likely that colony ships will have dominant races.

Of course, those races will change significantly once they're stuck on a new planet for thousands of years, and skin color could change independently of facial features. The more isolated the planet, the more change. It probably doesn't make much sense for everyone to look either European or Mongolian in M31 and M41.

Weird, I didn't have a problem with readium once user recommended it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Two thirds of every planet in the Imperium is Space Australia. Unless a certain group is noted to be one culture in Space!, Vostroyans being Russians and the 1k Sons being Space Egyptians for example, then you're a Space Aussie.

Was someone asking about rabbit marines?

That'd be heaps funny, m8.

>They dropped the predatory breasts
how sad

I thought of that since almost every planet in the Imperium is out for your blood much like Australia and from many Veeky Forums attempts at making Space Australia I put the two together. The Catachans however aren't Aussies despite living in a Space Australia environment but they love it either way.

Wait, what's changed in the Militia and Cults army?

I got a nasty itch to get a Betrayal at Calth box even though I shouldn't and paint them as sexy white-blue WE. How are footsloging WE on the table?

>How are footsloging WE on the table?
garbage

Decent, provided you're not fighting medusae/typhons/spartans/phospex every game.

Get Vigilators, infiltrate 2+ 20 man tactical blobs and fury of the legion them fuckers in the first turn then charge.

vigilators with infiltrate cant join units that dont have infiltrate. kek

Can still outflank tho, if buying vigilators is cheaper than transports. Don't even hafta drop your power armor to get outflank.

They do about as well as any melee hoard army does in a rule set that advantages shooting and gives access to plentiful AP3 or better templates: Not well.

That's not to say they can't work, but you kind of need to go for a threat overload/combined arms approach to make blob dudes work, i.e:

>Use fast armour/planes to bust enemy/dudes/other planes
>drop pod stuff in that can soak damage, like a leviathan
>Laser-destroyer vindicators are your friend, especially since they can be taken in squadrons now
>make a death star of your own, butchers in a spartan are pretty brutal

Basically, you need to have as much stuff coming at your opponent at once that if he neglects shooting/assaulting something he will get shot/assaulted by something worse

Not according to the rulebook and the current FAQ draft. If shrike can infiltrate with an assault squad then so can Vigilators with any other squad.

Does 30k follow the new 40k FAQ?

no. the current rulebook says that IC with infiltrate cannot join units that do not have infiltrate. period.

shrike is a special character and the FAQ draft is a draft and is not rules legal anyway.
yeah you could outflank them or scout them. but for like 100 points vigilator is it even worth it?

FW will probably decide that once the FAQ goes from draft to official status. No idea.

I think FW is better off splitting the HH rules from 40k. Right now the difference is negligible, but the key would be to not go along with the change to 8th edition. 6th to 7th was bad enough for HH.

>the current rulebook says that IC with infiltrate cannot join units that do not have infiltrate.

You mean this?

>Independent Characters and Infiltrate
>An Independent Character without the Infiltrate special rule cannot join a unit of Infiltrators during deployment

I get that its a wonky thing, the current FAQ does say that an IC with infiltrate can only join units with infiltrate but the SM draft and the FAQ draft does set a precedent to follow the rulebook that says

>Units that contain at least one model with this special rule are deployed last, after all other units (friend and foe) have been deployed.

So the Infiltrate rule is conferable to a unit if an IC with it joins that unit.

The entire problem of this is when does the 'joining' happen? And I understand it but all Im saying is that the possibility is there and its clear that the current intention that GW currently has is that IC with infiltrate confer the rule to the unit they join and can infiltrate with them and the case of Shrike is a precedent in favor of that, it being a special character has no meaning, its that he's an IC with infiltrate and can infiltrate with a unit.

But you're right, it isnt 100% official until its on the website.

>Shrike is a precedent in favor of that, it being a special character has no meaning
no, it has ALL of the meaning. he literally has is own special rule 'See but remain unseen', that gives infiltrate and scout. hes a special character with special rules.

IC with infiltrate cannot join units that dont have infiltrate.

Help me decide between Tacs and Breachers for troops.

On one hand, Tacs are a lot cheaper all around.

On the other hand, Breachers have better armor and can take Land Raiders as DTs, but are a lot more expensive.

Generally if you have to ask you should go tacs. Breachers are more for those who know they will definitely take them over tacs either way, whether due to thematic reasons or for some kind of specific build.

If you don't have a very strong reason and desire to take breachers, then simply don't.

Take Breachers with Land Raiders for Legions that emphasize durability, Iron Hands and Deathguard come to mind, Word Bearers can also benefit due to their leadership traits.

Ironwarriors can be a solid option as well due to the synergy they lend to the breaching charges or whatever they are called.

Oh, I suppose that's true. I was just wondering as they seemed pretty cool, and the ability to free up a Heavy Support slot seemed nice.

I'm planning on starting Iron Warriors, right now it's more just theoretical list building and seeing what I want/need to buy. I'm the same user from earlier, I'm just thinking about my list as I've not yet bought anything, and if the rumours are true about the new box I'll definitely get it.

The problem with Breachers is its challenging to come up with a 500pt list when two barebones breacher squads are 450 and a barebones centurion is 50pts, you won't be winning any games with that haha.

True enough! Though, what sort of 30k games are played at 500 points?

The kind that involves starting the hobby, picking up games at 500pts against 40k lists wouldn't be too challenging.

Part of the fun from my perspective will be the escalation of battle, games at 500pts, invest further to 750pts, make it to 1000k while playing all the while, keeping tally and granting accolades to models that perform over time.

You can truly experience narrative depth simply by playing as you expand your army.

500pts of Blackshields are what I'm rolling with.

I hate to take your time with noobish shit. New to 40/30k. I dont own/ cant download rulebooks so here is my big question: How do i build a World Eaters army? I have cash to burn so any decent army suggestions would be helpful

True enough!

user here again. I love the backstory and the idea of a up close and personal shit.. If that helps. Red butchers look good, but i collect DAngles and if they are a mediocre as deathwing, what do?

Plenty. Gaunt's Ghosts has a number of characters who undergo augmentation. Prospero Burns has a character who describes how the Space Wolves essentially rebuilt his entire body.

Are you sure about getting into 30k vs. 40k?

Find a Betrayal at Calth box before they run out if you like Mk IV armor and saving money. That should be enough tactical marines for a while. Get FW upgrade packs to make them look spiffy. Then make your army faster (transports for the tac marines, outriders and/or assault marines for fast close combat units, maybe scimitar jetbikes for fast shooters). Get something to take on tanks and knights (sicaran venator, flyers maybe, maybe even a Fellblade). Add special units and dreadnoughts to taste.

In WE armies, tactical marines are more for numbers and for moving onto objectives and defending them.

If you like Dark Angels just collect generic units for now and wait to see what happens when they get some real attention from FW.

Always pick the army you like, or you'll regret it one day because strength of rules fluctuates over time.

Zone mortalis? 30k doesn't really work below the 1750pts, all the units are to expensive. That said, I've played a few 1000pt quick games that were fun. Each side had like 4 units total

I am new to Warhammer completely, started a 40k army which is awesome. But one i read about the Horus Heresy i was hooked, i have a gaming club that plays so i have a rough grasp.
Ya, i intend to get Kharn and a few weapon and ascetic upgrades. Just dont quite grasp startegy or playstyle

>1000k

I like the sound of million point games

>Tfw awake right as the new book went up and got the LE

I wanted to play DA when book 1 came out, ended up caving when book 3 hit the shelves so I rolled with IF. Been playing them like dangles and I doubt I'll play DA even when their rules come out unless they have some shit I absolutely need.
