What kind of weapons would super early (like just after agricultural revolution) nomads carry? How could they improve their weapons and technology while still being nomadic?

Also, how would a fully nomadic people reach space?

A. Stones or cold forged rough copper
B. They don't.
C. See B.

>How could they improve their weapons and technology while still being nomadic?

Theft and trade.

And they never advance without agrarian patrons.

You cannot sustain a large population of nomads without agrarian support, and without large populations and storable foods(grain), you don't produce any wealth or feed artisans.

>How could they improve their weapons and technology while still being nomadic?

Some ideas:
>Some of their society splinters into semi-sedentary lifestyle, and these semi-sedentary guys are the ones to advance tech (and probably be the food suppliers as well)
>There's ruins from a bygone age of civilization, and the nomads are able to reverse-engineer some of them
>They go on the backs of gigantic creatures/golems/thingamajiggers that lets them carry whole villages around, and provide enough resources for them - this allows them to develop tech while still technically be nomadic

Improvements could be new, simple technology, like atlatls over javelins, or the introduction of a new resource. Finding a small supply of obsidian would give an edge (get it?) over the slightly duller flint spears their neighbors have.

Axes always over swords, always without fail if you want utility as well as warfare.
>Requires less materials
>Requires less skill
>Safer in the saddle
>Basic tool for lighting fires and gathering materials
>Hard flat head on opposite side for hammering
>Can be made of stone or metal
>Wooden handle
>Can be thrown easily

Nomadic cultures are not inclined to technological developments. At best they steal them from other people.

Nomads seldom have the insane surplus of food that agriculture provides, or the ability to sit down and specialize in a skill. When they do have 'surpluses' of food, it comes from being herdsmen, and those herdsmen don't really do much other than herd animals.

Look at modern day nomadic mongols. They're backwards hillbillies who do / think crazy shit.

1) Be Mongolia.
2) Be more Mongolia.
3) Be Space Mongolia.

You are woefully misinformed if you think a fighting axe and a utility axe are the same.

I think spears would be an okay assumption to make.

You know little on the topic. And choppy swords like falchions can be used as machetes to gather wood and cut thick vegetation.

Spears and long knives

Axe for chopping wood will not work well in battle and vice versa.

Spears. Good for being mounted and require relatively little stone/metal.
They would trade with those who aren't nomadic.

1. Horses

2. Get more horses. Lots of them. Trample the first people who invent bows, take their bows. Shoot the first people who invent leather and metalworking, take their saddles and stirrups. Wait for someone to invent composite recurve bows, then shoot them and take those. Make sure everybody knows how to shoot a bow and ride a horse by the age of six. Burn all farmland so everyone in your lands has to survive from livestock alone. Then your whole population is mobile and your hordes are like aircraft carriers, able to launch raids and sieges with no supply lines and no bases to destroy.

3. Get conquered when your subjects invent gunpowder and rockets. That's how Kazakhstan became the first country to launch a person into space.

>Genghis Khan launches space program. The moon will no longer escape the golden horde.

...

Historically, nomads bought their weapons from settled peoples. Assuming this is nto possible, they'd be stuck with flint spears and weak bows.

>Space Mongolia
Subnautica?

Really? I dont know much about the plot and setting.

Bows. And they'd whip your ass with them.

Why do you think people in settlements don't have them too? They have advantage of cover on top of that.

As in, literally. There are big ass corporations, but much more benevolent than the typical fictional mega corp. You can find logs about the Degasi survivors, and an audio log on the Aurora reads:

KEEN: The way I see it no one's to blame here.
CREW 1: She gave me the wrong co-ordinates!
CREW 2: He didn't give e clear instruction!
KEEN: Okay, I'll rephrase: you've been equally incompetent. Now, we've lost time, but we're closer to the planet, so if the Degasi's out there the scan should pick it up.
CREW 2: Why are we even helping the Mongolians? Aren't they the competition?
KEEN: Enjoy your shore leave on Sanjei Station? Like having fuel in the tanks? Thank the Mongolians. We run the scans, we show the Mongols we didn't find anything, and we say thanks for the free dinner. Clear?
CREW 1: Sir, there's something odd on the surface scan here.
KEEN: Turn that recorder off!

That is correct, but a fighting axe is more useful out of the fight than a sword is, even if both are inferior to a proper utility axe.

Similarly, a utility axe is better in a fight than a machete or similar, (better reach, better swing speed, more mass, which helps compensate for the duller edge of a working tool compared to a weapon. The axe is more tiring, certainly, but if you're caught fighting with tools you're probably not engaged in a drawn-out fight) which is the closest thing I can think of to a "utility sword", although both are again inferior to a proper fighting axe.
