First for the Eighth

Get into melee, they lose any advantage they had.

Rogal Dorn has the best armor.

Gonna repost my list

Emperor's Children/Solar Auxilia 3000 Points

Emperor's Children Age of Darkness (Maru Skara)
Praetor: 200 Points
>Iron Halo, Sonic Shrieker, Digital Lasers, Master-Crafted Paragon Blade, Charnabal Sabre
2x Champions: 280 Points
>Boarding Shields, Sonic Shriekers, Artificer Armour, Master-Crafted Phoenix Spears, Charnabal Sabres

2x 20 Tactical Marines: 590 Points
>Bolter, Bolt Pistol, and Chainswords, and Vexilla
>Artificer Armour and Power Axe on Sergeants

10 Palatine Blades: 355 Points
>Phoenix Spears and Sonic Shriekers

Sicaran Battle Tank: 220 Points
>Pintle Heavy Bolter, Sponson Heavy Bolters, Hunter-Killer Missile, and Armoured Ceramite
Sicaran Venator Tank Destroyer: 530 Points
>Pintle Heavy Bolters, Sponson Lascannons, Hunter-Killer Missiles, and Armoured Ceramite

Solar Auxilia Allied Detachment
Lord Marshal: 165 Points
>Iron Halo, Cyber Familiar, Artificer Armour, Digital Lasers, Master-Crafted Paragon Blade, and Charnabal Sabre

Household Retinue: 165 Points
>Power Axes

2x Lasrifle Sections: 260 Points
>Blast Chargers
>Charnabal Sabres on Sergeants

Leman Russ Executioner: 240 Points
>Hull Multilaser, Pintle Multilaser, Armoured Ceramite, and Extra Armour

Basic idea is venators and lasrifle sections sit back blowing up tanks and camping on objectives respectively, while the Lord Marshal and his retinue advances up the table alongside the tactical marines to capture objectives and slice shit up. Executioner kills terminators and marines while the venator eats infantry and light vehicles. Finally on turn 2 (probably after most of the enemy transports are either dead or going to die turn 3, letting the palatines charge them that turn) the Palatines alongside the Praetor and his two champions/bodyguards outflank. If the enemy decides to charge the palatines turn 2 counter-attack plus boarding shields mean even 2+ units will take some losses (not appreciable losses but eh, boarding shields were an aesthetic choice anyway).

How does this sound as a loadout for a 10 man EC tartaros squad?
>5 volkite chargers
>3 combi-meltas
>2 Plasma Blasters
>5 Power fists
>2 Lightning claws
>2 chainfists
>Phoenix Spear on sgt

Theyll be in a spartan with either fulgrim or a praetor depending on points

Yeah that's probably the largest contigent - a lot of people will actually play a traitor 30k legion instead of CSM just because it's actually more fitting due to the fact legions get unique rules.

Why does the pic reminds me of Griffith so much.

Dorn had the best everything

because it is?

Jesus that's a ton of equipment. Why are you throwing so much crap into the unit? I mean I guess it would work but I would probably just go
>8 Volkite Chargers
>2 Plasma Blasters
>9 Power Fists
>Phoenix Spear

Doesn't the Maru Skara require you to slay the enemy warlord? I don't think you have enough mobility to ensure that. Fast attack options or outflanking veterans are the usual way of making that happen.

>quad-mortar rapiers are fluffy for IW and DG
>the models come with MkIV crew

>Nose piercings

Worst trend among girls these last ten years.

>The models come with MkIV crew
This angers me so.

>Medusas and Basilisks are fluffy for IW
>The models it comes with are MkIV crew
This also angers me.

Agreed.

Also
>SA quad mortar looks so much cooler than the legion one

I have a Leman Russ executioner and enough anti-tank to ensure any transport carrying the warlord is shot down. Plus I could always fury the legion his unit or hose him down with the Sicaran battle tank a few times. There is also the outflanking palatines with a combined 42 str 5 AP 2 attacks at I 5 to 7. I figure between that and the venators (fucked up my list, I have 2 Sicaran venators hence the huge price tag) eventually turning their guns on heavy infantry I have a decent chance of bringing him down.

Also its only 1 VP and its only if slay the warlord is already a secondary objective in the mission being played.

DAT trigger discipline

Aren't sabres pointless on characters since they get +1 initiative when it matters anyway, also why do your tac sarges not have phoenix spears. Also I think sponsors are pointless on the sicaran venator unless you like snapfiring

>Aren't sabres pointless on characters since they get +1 initiative when it matters anyway
Thematic choice really
>also why do your tac sarges not have phoenix spears
Once again a thematic choice I picked up some of Sevrin Loth's (or whoever the Red Scorpions Librarian dude is) bodyguards and converted them into EC since I thought they looked cool.
>Also I think sponsors are pointless on the sicaran venator unless you like snapfiring
What would you suggest I do with the added 80 points? I tend to like a balanced list and thus would like to avoid adding a random land speeder or something.

>I tend to like a balanced list and thus would like to avoid adding a random land speeder or something.
I know what you mean, I hate having one random things in there because of left over points.

Maybe drop the extra toys on the sicarans and give your HQ units and palatines jump packs?

>I tend to like a balanced list and thus would like to avoid adding a random land speeder or something.
Find a few more points and add TWO Land Speeder Javelins. They're pretty EC, and it's not random if you have two.

id like them to be able to pop something and then charge what is inside

I think you're mixing too many weapons. Unless you know exactly what your Terminators will be doing I'd stay away from AP3 weapons, too much danger of a 2+ units tarpitting it. My usual load out for 10 termies is power fist on the sarge, 3 Chainfists and axes for everyone else. I take two special weapons depending on my enemy and as many matching Combi-Weapons as points allow.

Do it as a Christmas song instead instead

>5 Volkite chargers
>4 power fists
>3 lighting claws
>2 plasma blasters
>and a Sergeant with a phoenix spear

When it comes to HH podcasts, I really like the content in the Age of Darkness podcast (the Canadian one), but the second guy never seems to say anything. It's like his role is to say "yup". Does he have any shining moments?

ON THE FIRST DAY OF BATTLE MY PRIMARCH GAVE TO ME

10 decimated marines.

Just to clarify, Blackshield Chymeriae can't take allies at all. This means they cannot take Agents of the Emperor, correct?
I'm fuzzy on how the Agents of the Emperor work, since they seem to be connected to the Allies system, but take up slots in the regular Force Org Chart.

Im sure they can take AoE, they have their own rules but are part of your army and not an allied force.

Nine Auric Armors.

Fuck. Now starts the countdown until someone takes the Nemean Reaver in a +1S/T Blackshields army.
Sure, he'll cost +35 points to take him as a Knight Errant, but he can still be taken.

EIGHT NAILS

tfw the world eaters were pretty cool guys before angron fucked everything up by existing

Seven Meltas burning

It's more saddening than angry.

Six phosphex rapiers

>tfw Perturabo just wanted to be an architect and a diplomat.

He could have been. He was too fatalistic and paranoid to think Emps would let him.

5 GOLDEN ABS

Five flayed auxilia

Four Chaos Gods

Oh you.

The World Eaters were never cool guys

Kharn was though, no meme intended

Three obscenely long schlongs

Two missing Primarchs.

>Implying the emperor wouldnt have gotten rid of the marines and primarchs the same as the thunder warriors after their work was done

One Man-Emperor of Mankind!

AND BEST PRIMARCH IN A PEAR TREE

3 Imperial Knights :^)

And the greatest primarch of them all

That was an illogical fear that Horus had and it was exploited to cause the very future he tried to stop. Why make the marines so long lived if he was going to get rid of them? He loved Horus so much that he couldn't bring Himself to be the reason why there's a phrase "deader than Horus" in the modern Imperium until the very end. Now consider the other evidence that said he was going to keep the marines around, and the fact that he built the Primachs rooms at the Palace.

>people argue that Lorgar is the best primarch

what, really?

youtube.com/watch?v=L0bcRCCg01I

Does anybody else have increased urges to buy more HH stuff while listening to Mars the Bringer of War?

They do. But let's not turn this thread into "My Primarch Can Beat Up Your Primarch!" thread.

black library tried really hard to reach the bullied nerd demographic with him

>Sons of Horus

>Probably the strongest all around LA rule
>Have a cheap character that makes vets troops & is a master of the legion
>Can now take BS 5 sniper vets in drop pods or outflanking triple Las cannon LR mounted BS 5 sniper vets as troops
>LR option only costs 370 pts, the drop pod one only 195 pts

FW has lost their minds

I'd totally play SoH if it weren't for the fact that I don't really know too much about them.

That and I don't like Abbadon or Loken's models. Horus' model is amazing though.

Call me a scrub but, what are supposed to be in the containers on the apothecary's waist?

Where do you think harvested gene-seed goes?
Scrub.

Drugs, geneseed, plasma transfusions.

Various chemicals and drugs, as well as gene seed storage. One seems connected straight to the Apothecary's equipment, so it may also analyze the contents, or is a simple respiration system.

>gene-seed
I thought that's what the bigger ones on the back were for.

the containers on the narthecium itself are what holds the geneseed

The various containers on the waist and backpack are going to be for spare containers when the narthecium vials are full (of geneseed) or empty (of medicine).

I think that's a pretty common attitude. The novels really need to make the traitor SoH seem more interesting.

FW sees how few people play SoH and figures they need a buff.

>he built the Primachs rooms at the Palace.
Sauceplz.
We already know what Curze's room looks like -- on board of his ship, that is.
I think Sanguinius' room on the Red Tear is also described on Fear to Tread, but I kinda forgot about that one.

I'm fairly certain that what Emps had in mind for Curze's bedroom wasn't so edgy.

Deliverance Lost

It is my headcannon that almost everything in the Imperial Palace is made out of Auric material.
Even the toilets.
That'd be the only way to not have it melt whenever Mortarion uses it.
Thanks m8

Does anyone know what mark the backpacks on FW's alternate heavy weapon sets are? I need to know because they're triggering my autism.

hand sanitizer

MKII?

what, these?

modified mk2 or 3, though I'm not sure there's actually a difference looking at them both myself

for comparison

Nah more like the Mars pattern Heavy Bolter and all that sort of stuff they have.

they're too covered by shit and modified to carry any recognizable mark

the only part you can see clearly are the four (or two, in the case of the phaistos flamers) little exhaust things on the bottom, which are present and identical on every mark's backpack

>get a friend into 30k
>He chooses IW
>His starting 2k list he comes up with is
>2 Medusas
>3 Thudd guns
>2 Domitar Ferrum
>10 terminators
>Praetor

IRON WITHIN

gj idiot, you ruined everything

at least he brought fluffy units llike medusas and mortars

>Play alpha legion
>Infiltrate 20 seekers
>Sabotage both medusas
>Half his army gone first turn

Deep strike 3 Leviathans and ruin his shit.

so PotL + artillery? he doesn't really have any scoring outside the termies, and he can't teleport them in to ninja objectives. any air or outflanking or deep striking units in his backline and he has no firepower, then mop up or tie up the termies before they can get to objectives.

he also can't run ironfire with PotL so that reduces his effective firepower dramatically. honestly, unless that praetor is actually erasmus golg (makes termies troops so that you can take a real rite of war) his list kind of stinks.

domitar ferrum are legit not even that good, all they really do is make it impossible to snipe slay the warlord without committing a lot of firepower. if you can win the mission without that point they're just a huge point sink that don't actually do much because they're rather slow and can't deep strike/outflank

what legion/list do you run? it seems like a lot of people complain about these IW gunline lists but they're usually running footslogging B@C lists. it should be pretty obvious that a footslogging list is gonna have a bad time against a gunline.

Lots and Lots of marine seed. wet, raw and ready to be feed to little boys.

that's my face when I was hoping to get my first Imperial Fists + Knights game in tonight but I called and found out everybody at the store was playing Age of Sigmar...

Fuck you Dorn could and has taken on all comers.

Spoiler alert, he won

Stop bitching and just buy the Imperial Militia version, they even come with an extra crewmember and full weapons sprue.

Asking again. Would the support staff of the SoHs/LWs have black and red armor? Or are the techmarines/Libbies/docmarines going to be slapped with a C&D from the Justaerians and Reavers?

I feel like heresy specialists should still be sporting legion standard colors.

Granted the legions were huge and you could probably have any mix of colors on your SoH as you'd like and still be kosher, but having 30k marines look like 40k marines just seems... wrong.

If I bought Betrayal at Calith and split up the armies (So I could play the board game), could I also use those split armies to play really light 30k games with my friends?

Or is it worth it to just paint them all as one legion and have an instant starting army?

So, I still haven't read Angels of Caliban because an Epub hasn't surfaced, Can anyone tell me if it's worth me going out and buying it?

>could I also use those split armies to play really light 30k games with my friends?

Yes, Strike Forces which is Forgeworld's take on Kill Teams, similar to old Kill Team and Heralds of Ruin.

Oh shit that's awesome! Thanks, user.

Now, I don't know if there's a specific army makeup in BoC, like one side should have 1 dreadnaught, 20 marines, and the captain in power armor. The other side should have 10 marines, 5 terminators, and the captain in terminator armor.

Is there any way to kind of make up both sides that are kind of 'balanced'? I don't think legion's special effects occur in board game, but how should I take that into consideration for Strike Forces?

I have seen pics where techies now wear their chapter's colors with only one red pauldron, and there is art of a 30k UM techie being blue instead of

The recent update made them much more appealing, but are they playable now?
Before never saw them.
I assume Lascannons, MM and 2HKMs is the way to go for 85pts. Just outflank and tank hunt Side/Rear Armor.

Is a vexilla an item a single model in a unit has ir is it a unit-wide upgrade.? Can it be sniped out?

Oh nevermind, it's right in the rules.

What do you think I should consider, though, when constructing these armies for balanced-ish play with Strike Force?

I saw them used in an EC batrep and they actually seemed surprisingly decent, and that was before the cost change. Granted, neither player had much HH experience and neither list was terribly optimized. Now that they're cheaper they seem like a very solid choice in the right army - EC and White Scars certainly come to mind.

Thanks
I play Word Bearers, and likely not enough Anti-tank.
BS5 is sooo tempting now with that much S8/S9.

>$70 each
>No recasters make them

If there was a kit that needed a plastic version this is it

>What do you think I should consider, though, when constructing these armies for balanced-ish play with Strike Force?

Just build a team that YOU would enjoy creating and playing, fluff them and make them YOUR dudes.
