How To play an insane character

>get a d100
>make a spreadsheet
>number 10 20 30 tc are your typical pcs actions
>every other number gets something random like "punch the nearest person" or "start reenacting a song from your groups bard, fail miserably"
> secretly roll a d100 every time you get an action

have fun.

That isn't how insane people operate, though, especially the type of insane that is actually able to be an adventurer rather than some gibbering lunatic in a corner.

>lolsorandom insanity
Both inaccurate and shit-tier for roleplaying.

>how to be that guy in five easy steps
>brought to you by faggotry incorporated

Things this isn't:
1. Fun to play
2. Fun for the rest of the group
3. In any way an accurate representation of any sort of insanity

lol XD so Random :3

kill yourself

You're doing it wrong.
>Make your character talk directly to the GM only, and refer to the party members through him.
>Refuse all rewards, instead looting the dead for all your items.
>Eat every enemy.
>Be a cancer mage that's only interested in growing your own collection of cysts.
>Eat every cyst.
>Cross-class into paladin.

Fuck off fishmalk. You don't play an insane character just by doing random shit. You play an insane character by inventing a fundamentally crooked worldview, and holding the character to that worldview, rigorously.

See, The fundamental difference between a sane character and an insane character, is that the insane character simply does not see the same world everyone else does.

The clearest example is hallucinations. The insane character sees things, hears things, tastes things, smells things and feels things that are simply not there. Their brain is broken, and inventing sensory stimuli where none exists (or maybe a wizard is planting the stimuli in their head, whatever). The hallucinations feel utterly real to the insane character, because they have no reason to doubt their senses, which can often lead to them thinking everyone else is crazy for not seeing what they see.

What's important here is what the hallucinations are, and how the character interprets them. If they frequently see shadow-people late in the evenings, which coincides with them putting their only child to bed, they might conclude that the shadows are trying to steal their child, and take drastic measures to protect said child from the the shadows. If a character is a teenager in school, and they regularly hear whispering noises, they might think that people are talking about them behind their backs, and become paranoid.

You need to keep the hallucinations consistent, and you need to have the character completely believe in their reality, and act accordingly (of course, they might actually be real, and the "insane" character is the only one who knows).

That's not even how insanity works in your fucking picture.

>How to be an annoying little shit and make the entire group hate you

FTFY

xDDDDDDD

>saged
>as he bumps the thread
Did they botch the lobotomy, or were you born this stupid?

>get a d200000
>make a spreadsheet
>number 10 20 30 is your typical shitty bait
>every other number is some other retarded shit like "true neutral is a best" or "you should be able to multiclass wizard as wizard"
>jerk off to the ammount of (you)'s you get
Have fun, dickweed.

let's try to make something of this lazy bait/ genuine dumbness
How should GM manage hallucinations? Should there be mechanical effect?

...

T'was a good read. Thanks mate.

Also reminded me that Shirou Emiya is a good example of an insane character that would work, as it somewhat belivable, not random and there is an internal logic and consistency.

JUST PLAY... erm, I mean in GURPS, for example, some disadvantages have target number that basically defines your chance to fail your self-control roll and receive negative effects. You roll in stressful situations or every N minutes/hours/days depending on disadvantage.

I think you meant to type "how to be a That Guy with lolrandom character"
