It's no secret roll20, while an incredibly cool website, is haunted by a community that most of the times is fucking atrocious.

So let's have a "bring something horrible from roll20 thread".

while hilarious, this one doesn't seem that bad

Doesn't look that bad. He's new and he's trying.

It's the 20+ year veterans with 9000-year-old loli anime catfolk characters that scare me.

>druid
>heavy armor
dont druids louse their power if they have non-natural equipment?
>lycanthrope civilization
nigga wearwolfs are a curse not a people, druids tend to hate them

Here you guys go. This is one of the cringest character's I've seen in my time on roll20. Not the worst, but certainly the door opener.

It baffles me the sense of entitlement most people in LFG have. It's mostly groups looking for a DM, and not the other way around. Worst thing is most of the time they do find one, though i can't imagine those games last very long.

Seems pretty typical for a WoD character.

>11 year old girl
>Eternally looks like that
>Ate her sire
>Has a motorcycle and weapons
>No points in social abilities
>Some how has all this equipment
>110 years old

The fuck kinda WoD games have you been playing?

...

I can't be arsed to go looking, but the amount of games I've seen that go on and on about being a "safe space" is fucking amazing.

I seriously don't even understand what it is supposed to mean in the context of a D&D game.

How exactly could a game of fantasy rolly-dice be a threat?

I only skimmed it and managed to miss that she was 11 year old, but again, not like she's the first childlike-vampire-who-is-actually-old. And living for over a century gives you some room to come up with plenty of excuses on why she has certain shit.

Not saying it's a good character, just that it doesn't seem all that far out of line for a WoD character.

>her eyes blacked out in a swirl of smoke
>(Exactly like on supernatural)

[VOMIT]

I guess you just never have any fights and everyone just sends the session telling each other what they like about each others characters

Are all character creation threads for Roll20's "living world" campaigns such depraved hives with no quality standards whatsoever?

These applications hardly even pay attention to the setting or the character creation rules.

This one character is Yuuka Kazami from Touhou, a "youkai" actually named "Yuuka Kazami." She flagrantly ignores the setting and the character creation rules yet still manages to be a poorly optimized fighter. She was accepted nevertheless.

She also has Knowledge (the 4th wall) on her character sheet.

Bonus round, from a different living world campaign:

oustomiaworld.wikia.com/wiki/Sky
>Sky is a very unique kobold. While most look scraggly, malnourished, and unpleasing to look at, sky has a flush of health about her, not having those above qualities, actually being arguably pretty, even to non-scale inclined races. she has bright green eyes, as well as a very long muscular tail, which ends in natural feathering, and lastly, she has a small pair of wings upon her back, which while she cant fly with them, it definitely designates her stronger dragonic blood.

oustomiaworld.wikia.com/wiki/Lili
>Age: 13
>Lili is a shape-shifting Wolf Yokai. She's very short, coming in at only 3' 5" tall and 37 pounds, her frame is very slight and petite, causing her to look fragile, as if she might break if one were too rough with her. In actuality however, the girl is rather tough, able to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

oustomiaworld.wikia.com/wiki/Tunaria_Steelblood
>Age: 9
>Tunaria is a little girl with big dreams. Her long blonde hair and blue eyes make her appear quite charming, and she knows it, taking full advantage of her young age and appearance to get what she wants. After all, what harm could it do to help out (or put up with) such a cute little girl?

oustomiaworld.wikia.com/wiki/Roleplay_Points

I guess it mostly refers to players ever mentioning they might vote for Trump

Extremely far out of line. There's like one character in all of the VtM books that is a child vampire. And he was an accidental embrace.

The meanies use horrible meanie words like 'man', 'war' and 'rape'. They may even show interest in a member of the opposite sex!!

im guessing that it's for people who only belive what the group belives, in other words boring, my best game so war was with two open market capitalists, one socialist (me), a right winger and a social democrat

Everyone who has the same character name as their account name is a shitter. No exceptions.

Speaking in general, everyone on the LFG who is like "this is the character I want to play, please let me in your group" is also a shitter. Fucking find a group first, and make a character that actually first the story and the group instead of just playing your fucking anime self-insert.

...

sure. But they should probably learn tea quick that DnD is meant for fantasy- other systems can do borderlands way better, no new rules required.

>Soon

...

I can guarantee this person is fat

I want to know how you came to that conclusion friendo

Interesting pre-emptive victimology. Good show.

Fat people often fake a high opinion of themselves and are into BDSM and shit.

Probably right. She is very crazy. I talked to her once, never again...

I think I might know this guy. His name is Skyler, he's small and gay, and he seems like the kind of person who would do this. I know he plays tabletops of some kind.

>his name is Skyler
Wow user are you a detective

While that's true, D&D is by far the most common "first game" for new players, and I think most every GM has gone through a phase where they wanted to play another setting but didn't know enough about the hobby to find another game to do it with. I know I ran a mecha D&D game back in middle school. It was fucking atrocious, but we were kids. We didn't know any better.

I have to agree with this man.

Originally, you'd look for a group to join, now people make groups and do applications for the GM...

How can you feel like you have control of the table when you were interviewed for the fucking game?

...

...

>11571 hours played.
>She has been on Roll20 continuously for 482 days.
...
>Actually seems like an okay player.

I don't really see a problem here.

>unironically linking a furaffinity link
My fucking sides

fucking Pelvis, man.

Honestly this thread is depressing me rather than making me want to rage. It's just a catalogue of incredibly sad, lonely people trying to reach out and gain some kind of fun social interaction to distract them from the misery eating them up inside but still failing to be able to connect on a human level.

Worst part of roll20 is that the top voted community requests are over a year old and completely ignored by the developers.

I'll accept any number of 3000 year old loli malkavians if it meant something would happen.

I'd love to try Roll20 some time, but my online gaming buddies are like nuuuu, let us only play on our secret clubhouse irc channels, and REEEEEEEEE webcams, i don't want too see people

Then why are there rules for anti-matter rifles in the DMG guide user?

You sound like the kind of faggot that wants to record sessions too.

...

I mean shit, as a BL player myself I'm pretty sure the game would translate fairly well to P&P.

>interacting with the community at all
>people don't just make their own private roll20 rooms and direct invite their IRL group

>using webcams ever
Unless you're with your friends why would you do that, literally what would it bring

I think you're reading too much into it
Most of them are just dumb cunts or very new, deluded people

Why say roll20, when you actually mean "Traditional Games?"

...

>Much like our own world (Reality)
>So this time I am only allowing females

Is it a good tool for doing that, if so that may be an idea for my group.

...

Yeah, Roll20 as a virtual tabletop is completely workable. Not as customizable as, say, MapTool, or as tailor-made for a system as something like Fantasy Grounds, but MapTool isn't particularly user-friendly and Fantasy Grounds costs dosh. Roll20 provides an equivalent experience for free.

>teleported all over the world
I think I know what this character's combat tactic may consist of

>Jedi and Sith on the same side under the emperor
I don't think this person understands star wars, I know there are other things in this post to bother me but this just makes me angry, why would you involve star wars in a game if you clearly don't want to do a light vs dark conflict, it's the entire point of the franchise

If my son ever posts something like this I shall beat him within an inch of his life.

You just create an account, create a private game and invite your friends/send them the game link.

Best thing with r20 are the interactive character sheets.

...Why would he?
That guy goes beyond obnoxious into delusional.
What sort of influence does your son have on him?

*like him
Fucking mobile.

...

Ironically this isn't even exceptional or shocking anymore, there's even a sticky for paid GMing on the LFG forum.
I guess all these posts begging for a DM were smelling faintly of money opportunities

This is the only reason to use roll20. Any group needs to be together and have a campaign in mind before they start.

Backstorywise that's a pretty good evil character.

Well I guess it's one way to do things, but I really can't say I'd particularly like that sort of relationship with a GM. I have my doubts there's many people willing to pay for such a thing that aren't completely awful though

None, but how badly to do you have to fail as a role model and a parent to have your child post that?

God, if I could learn to GM Shadowrun 5e competently, I could do some paid GMing

Everyone wants to play that setting but nobody wants to GM

...what's the problem with this one?

wut

>Mature content
>Yes

How to find a shitter.

lol, I saw this post earlier on Roll20 and thought about posting it to Veeky Forums

There is nothing wrong with this at all, their are plenty of groups asking for a GM to do all the hard work. He has spotted a need in an emergent market and is filling it. This is why I love the US.

I would be willing to place money that if taken up it would be one of the best and reliable games you ever attend. Sure it is not the same as playing around with friends but on the internet? Sure would beat a lof the trouble you find. Not only are you emotionally invested but now you are financially.

What's the problem with this one?

>Abused Roleplayer

The title, why the hell would you take in a player that describes himself that way

Why the fuck is that character sheet 22 pages long? Is that normal for WoD?

"Abused Roleplayer."

Also the post pretty much implies that if you don't wanna put his OC gods and shit into your setting then you're a big smelly meaniehead who doesn't understand the TRUE meaning of D&D.

I guess the "abused" part is weird and unnecessary.

Though even without that, I would never play with a guy that "has several characters part of my arsenal". Fucking roll your character at the start of the game, you goddamn clownboat, don't just port them over from unrelated games.

...

Well he said he was new so I don't see the problem.

The intro is pretty hokey but new DM w/e.

It's just laid out in a shitty way, and most of it is pictures and backstory.

Why?

Because any player that's looking for 18+ content is That Guy.

I don't mind mature content if it happens to come up, but anyone who is specifically looking for it is a shitter, with no exceptions.

I missed the "abused" part but even then I admire the clear communication. The player is letting you know who they are and what they are looking for. Even if I wouldn't invite him in my group I respect that he isn't trying to hide who he is, how he views himself, and what he's looking for in the game.

Also I totally agree with the whole "don't port characters" thing

Does anyone have positive stories about using Roll20 for random groups, or is it just shit like this 24/7?

>I don't mind mature content if it happens to come up

And what if someone in the group does mind it when it comes up?

I've heard random accounts while scrolling through threads. You just gotta keep looking.

I had nothing but shit everytime I tried roll20. And it was 3 times. Sorry user.

>And what if someone in the group does mind it when it comes up?
Then they be a mature adult about it and say hey I am not okay with this.
Or if it is a possibility you discuss it as a group beforehand.

I joined a Deadlands game that is one of the best I have ever been in, a good group of players with a Marshal/GM who loves what he does, is funny, passionate and very easy to talk to and most of all is happy to instruct, assist and advise.

So there are no normal players or games on roll20, right?

The only times I've had good games on Roll20 was with premade groups of people I knew outside of Roll20. Even Veeky Forums's own gamefinder threads are higher quality than Roll20 LFG.

Then we can talk about it like reasonable adults.

Also it depends on context. Like if you put rapey stuff in the game and someone mentions they're not comfortable with that kind of story, it's usually no big deal to replace those bits with something else.

The thing is, it's easier to just shut out 18+ stuff right at the gate and situationally let it in and see how the players deal with it, then to open the floodgates right away and allow in players who are specifically looking for that kind of content.

Fampai, I think you're misunderstanding. In this thread, people are just trawling through the roll20 forums and player accounts to find shit players and GMs. Nobody here has actually played with them.

Which is actually the biggest advantage of using roll20. You can actually see the autism you're dealing with before you let the person in your game.

These days, I recruit via roll20 instead of Veeky Forums gamefinder threads, because gamefinder threads are literally exclusively shitters and flakes, and you have no basis to use to vet players because they're just going to be anonymous random chat accounts made purely for the purposes of chatting with you. You have no idea who you're playing with until they're in your game.

And go figure, 99% of Veeky Forums Anons in gamefinder threads are shitters who rely on their anonymity to get into games because if they had a reputation, they'd be known for being flakes and shitters at least as bad as anything you've seen in this thread.

Then presumably, they wouldn't have joined a game where mature content will occur, as indicated.

I tried Roll20 for the first time last night. I post a game in the LFG listing and player apps start trickling in. After a couple hours I get a message from a random person saying to avoid a few players that had applied to my game. The warning player wasn't applying to my game (so wasn't trying to rule out competition or something). I inform the two players that I'd prefer they weren't in my game. This is the result of one of them. I'm in so much trouble now.

The "abused roleplayer" part alone really is enough of a turn off, but he preemptively says something along the lines of "If you don't like my characters, you probably don't get DnD but whatever" and that's extremely off putting. I guess you could take what he says in different ways, but putting those together I imagine he left a previous game because some GM didn't want to accommodate his bullshit and instead of thinking about why he just got bitter about it.

All of that might just be an assumption, but why in the hell would anyone pick that out of a lineup?

A classic

>Or if it is a possibility you discuss it as a group beforehand.

Which is what's so convenient about marking your game as Mature Content

Kek, what a faggot.

Looks like the average WoD player to me DESU
This honestly isn't that bad, they seem like a dedicated person and can at least spell correctly unlike so many of these morons
