Sentient non douchbaggy race

HURRRRR DURRRRR PURGE THE XENO'S (Don't mention the times we worked with Eldar thought)

Is the Imperium of Man doomed to be retarded and surrounded by enemies at all fronts forever and not at least work with the Tau on a partial level?

Even the USA and USSR at the height of the cold war weren't this retarded

>Even the USA and USSR at the height of the cold war weren't this retarded
True. USSR was this retarded under Stalin's rule. And USA have that moment yet to come. Maybe sooner than you would expect.

Id say Eldar would be better allies but thats just me

>take over imperial worlds
>prepare to get anally raped
>imperium launches crusade ten years later because they were too busy to care about losing a small amount of worlds
>Tau dindu nuffin

Damocles crusade BEST DAY OF MY LIFE, take a bath of dead gue'la!

You might as well ask why the Islamic State doesn't try to open diplomatic relations with Isreal. Their doctrines are completely at odds with one another and the Imperium is dedicated to the extermination of all other non-human intelligent life. The Imperium cannot formally ally themselves with aliens because that allows a vector for alien ways of thinking to infect human minds.

Xenotech is heresy. Xeno politics are heresy. Xeno ideology and philosophy are heresy. Humans cannot allow themselves to be tainted. Its neither pragmatic nor practical but it is one of the founding principles of the Imperium.

>Sentient, non-douchbaggy race

Technically true, but remember the Imperium is full of fanatics who don't like any contact with xenos at all.

>Open to negotation

But only under their own terms; they want to spread the Greater Good and be considered a major player, when they're only a small empire in a large galaxy.

>Have tech and tactics that would make them decent allies

Possibly, but because of the limits of their space travel and their relatively small population, they wouldn't be much help to humanity. They're most useful as they are now - blunting Tyranid hive fleets attacking from the east, or distracting Waaghs of orks. Neither of which requires an alliance, since if the Imperium was allied with them, that would require they help in these occasions.

The Tau explicitly intend to expand into human territory. There is no alliance to be had there, the interests of the Imperium are objectively on conflict with those of the Tau.

The Tau deserve to be exterminated. Worthless race, disgusting.

Cato Sicarius and ten of his friends stopped a sector level Tau invasion.

Every Tau involved in Damocles probably died begging for their disgusting heathen lives on the edge of Ultramarine steel. How dignified.

Wait... you are expecting the lore will start to make sense and cease to be hodge-podge of grim-derp retardation?

This is the reason why I dropped 40k

I like to imagine Tau behave a lot like Tau players do.

In the early Tau lore, the Imperium actually tried negotiation with them, but the Imperium gave up after a terrible display of autism on the part of the Tau.

Just find the lore you like and thats it

Having my headcanon is not the same as having coherent lore

The problem is both mankind and the Tau believe in the manifest destiny of their own race over all else.

The Tau will accept humanity as a client race, as servants of the Greater Good. But they are *not* interested in the continued sovereignity of the Imperium. Allying with the Tau comes with explicit acceptance of the Greater Good. That would mean disavowing the Emperor, and that would mean sacrificing mankind to Chaos. It's unacceptable, and would do more harm than good.

I guess but I havent really digged some of the new lore not to mention the number of shit mentioned and never expanded

I cant be the only whos pissed at how shafted the Scion lore is you could make so much shit for these guys different play styles, ideals, and armor style.

Like the fucking scions who dress up like Necrons dont have anything based on that its just

"We fight eldar really good"

Or the Scions who have an extremely odd immunity of nurgle related incidents no mention of Isha meddling or maybe some odd abhuman strain.

There is only one Scion regiment friends with space marines

Why not ones friends with others? Like Salamanders this is a Scion regiment who are specialized in fighting Dark Eldar. They also pride themselves on freeing human slaves who were taken captive and have extensive training on ship to ship boarding in close quarters environments. Also can get called into natural disater zones to keep the peace and population safe from any heresy that might rise in these situations.

Other things we could expand upon

>Massive armoury of tacticool gear like Infravisors, Cameleoline, EMP Grenades, Power Daggers, under-barrel grenade launchers and Medipacks
>Just so many grenades and pistols
>Black Ops seedy shit like rad weapons, phosphex and acid rounds
>Hints of high-level Imperial corruption like the Afriel Strain, proscribed psyker experimentation/augmentation and mind wiping
>Sniper/spotter teams with S6/AP3 rifles
>Armoured cars and Humvees
>Vulture Gunships
>Insurgent specialists, headhunters, saboteurs n shit

I dont understand how GW took an idea like Scions and made the lore so boring that not even grimderp saves it.

and dont even get me fucking started on the negligence of old regiments such as Catachans or Death Korps of Kreig in both the table top and lore department.

You guys want to have a tea party or something?

Also I forgot they barely have any "Main players" shit that makes Catachans so memorable are the people in it

>universes smartest ogryn
>A mother fucker got his arm ripped off by a land shark
>A fucking guy lifts a heavy bolter while holding off tyranids
>One of the best snipers in the galaxy who became that way to avenge his brothers
>offworlder almost every catachan hated turned them into one of the most notable regiments in the imperium

I dont know why I getting to deep into this all of a sudden I stopped playing the games years ago but I am still invested in the lore with these bullshit fanfiction ideas and reasons

>offworlder almost every catachan hated turned them into one of the most notable regiments in the imperium

Funnily enough Catachan requires a constant influx of immigrants as the native birth rate is far outpaced by the death rate.

40k is stupid, user
it's a very shallow setting

>Implying the rampant testosterone and lack of shirts doesn't make them fuck like rabbits.

>The Imperium of Man
>The Faction whose defining trait might as well be "We're xenophobic idiots"
>Being retarded

No shit Sherlock, what was your first clue?

>Tau are willing to ally with anyone.
>Not Tau are willing to ally with anyone who abandons their ideologies for the Tau's ideologies and the betterment of the Tau race above your own.

This. The Tau are as fanatic about the Greater Good as the Imperium is with the Imperial Cult, they just apply it to everyone instead of just humans.

They kinda point their giant guns at the races they encounter while sending over their emissaries.
Course it is reasonable to negotiate terms of absorbing another race into your empire from a position of power.
