I couldn't make a serious campaign to save my life.

youtube.com/watch?v=paN2a9y1-Cs

Chiptune mostly. Helps get my gears turning while I plot things out for my players.

PIRATES
youtube.com/watch?v=ta-Z_psXODw

Depends on the campaign.

For Shadowrun it's electro with a heavy beat and no vocals. For D&D it's a variety pack of neo-classical, whereas if I'm planning out a post-apocalyptic setting I'll be blasting industrial metal and aggrotech.

Basically I try to fit the general mood of the music to the themes of the campaign.

Probably not what you were looking for, but synthwave for my cyberpunk/scifi games:

Blackmore's Night is really good for this in my opinion.

Jamaican dancehall. It was something that just happened when one guy did the Usain Bolt pose during a shadowrun game.

Depends
For my wilds

For my battle lore i listen to sabaton
For my (human) cities
Rammstein
For everything else, rock and roll

Best Space Opera music in existance.

Mostly black metal, Burzum,Darkthrone etc. Surprisingly enough the settings I create aren't very grimdark or crapsack.

Dont ask why

Very useful for thinking up faction motivations, and general attitudes found therein.

Im gonna ask

What kind of setting did you make when you were listening to this

Don't listen to anything.

Usually lore is made on the spot to relate to the story somehow

To long to say but

>Nature goddess reveals herself
>Gains a shitton of followers and begins a crusade to take her planet back
>Countries join forces to stop her
>All the soldiers get fucked since the goddess decides to turn men into what they really are "monsters"
>All soldiers are turned into Beastmen and other fantasy creatures
>Battle is considered a loss but the soldiers home countries turn into one large coalition
>3 years later only 2 nations remain
>The Children of Gaia and The Coalition
>With the mutants in the middle
>The Coalition marked them all as KIA and consider them freaks who have to be purged
>The nature faction says anyone can join expect those ugly monsters :^)
>Now the mutants either become mercs or disgruntled veterans who are tired of both factions bullshit

It also has a huge focus on brotherhood and how everything might be shit but atleast you still got friends

Some of the songs I listened to when wiriting it

Funny part about that last song is that I wrote one of my MCs starts playing it when he breaks out of a prison that Gaia controls.

Carmen Miranda's ghost was some pretty cool shit to get inspired for running some cool space westerns and operas

>Dragon Sound
Stupid cocaine

You sound like a really optimistic nihilist

If I had any animation skills I would definitely turn that first link into a music video of Salamanders purging the shit out of everything with flamers, while Vulkan He'stan plays a guitar solo atop a Land Raider Redeemer.

It's just too perfect.

Space Heros and Other Fools is a good soundtrack for Space opera too.

Stan Rogers, Garnet Rogers, Old Blind Dogs, and maybe some other stuff, but usually those three.

stuff like this

it gets depressing

Vitamin String Quartet is my go to when I'm thinking, painting, or having trouble sleeping. There's a lot of inspiration you can get out of some of the songs, for example youtu.be/EgOzGxcwSDo gives me the mental image of a busy port city in the 16th century, which works wonders for inspiration for the 7th sea game I'm running.

Musicals, mostly. It's not hard to get some sort of inspiration from them, even if the inspiration you get has nothing to do with the source material.
