My GM wants to run a Lamantation of the Flame Princess game on Roll20 yet currently we have only me and another person as players for the game and he needs more to start the game. Game Finder didn't help much.
How do you advertise an eldritch horror game set in the 17th century ?
And is the name "Lamantation of the Flame Princess" a bit misleading ?

Just bill it as old school D&D. Nobody in the OSR runs their game as written anyway, so the base system doesn't reeaally matter.

And in case it comes up, everyone just calls it LotFP

You mean Wails of the Plasma Marquess, right?

I kek'ed. But honestly first time I heard the name I thought it was some anime rpg or something to do with Adventure Time.

...

same way you advertise any other game that isn't D&D. you test gamefinder a few times, realize really nobody wants to play it, then either convince friends to try it or get one of your players to drag friends in. If both players got one other person in, you'd have a party, dingus.

...

I am the player. And I tried to invite a friend but he bailed on the game because of life and shit.

... dang.

>And is the name "Lamantation of the Flame Princess" a bit misleading ?

It is apparently named after the author's ex-girlfriend whom he called 'Flame Princess'.

This should tell you all there is to know about the guy.

That's not even true. It's the name of a heavy metal zine he made years before he even met the girl you're talking about.
This is just people recycling half truths and urban legend horseshit.
Truth is, the guy digs redheads, and he hired his favorite heavy metal album cover artists to do art for his RPG.
The Flame Princess herself is one of the system's "iconics", characters being run through playtests. She has nothing to do with the ex-girlfriend, and the shit that happens to them is because the game and its modules are brutally deadly, not because Raggi hates women or some shit.

Honestly, if these three characters were guys nobody would bat an eye.

I feel he doesn't exactly discourage the legend though.

Yeah, I imagine it's like his own personal "D&D leads to satanism and suicide!" thing.

Christ did Virt draw this game's art?

As somebody once said, Raggi has the amazing ability to collect Internet Outrage and spin it into Surprisingly Professional Production Value.

Nope, metal album artists. The difference being we don't KNOW if those guys jack off to that.

I like that about him. The professional production value part, anyway. If it was anyone else the crap would feel juvenile, and a lot of it still does, don't get me wrong. But there's a style and a feel to the game that has kinda become it's own, valid thing. FATAL this is not.

It's the opposite.

It's Arzach, The Dark Crystal, and The 13th Warrior, but bloodier and more exploitative.

It has meta humor, but isn't bogged down by hollow tropes and obvious punch lines. It feels very Metal, album cover RPG is a good description.

It's definitely the only way I'm ever touching D20 again.

I've never heard of this game, but it looks interesting and I've been considering getting back on Roll20... Can you give me the elevator pitch?

I refuse.

this seems like a good game to play with strangers that I met on an uzbekistani tapestry website.
>someone please tell me if I'm getting in over my head here
What time/how often is the group planning on playing?

that one's by the same guy that did a bunch of cannibal corpse covers.

The best LoTFP books are the ones not actually written by Raggi. That guy from Roleplaying With Pornstars or whatever it's called springs to mind. Did Vornheim and A Red & Pleasant Land. Raggi... doesn't quite understand how to do "disturbing" without going full edgy retard.

He likes when people think he had a girlfriend.

Friday at about 9 pm Pacific Time, we plan to play every week.

Need a link ?

Here's my mail if any of you feel like joining. It's text only. At the mid 30 Years War. The GM is great.

I will get you in touch with the GM.

Basically this.
The Raggi books are a mixed bag (The God that Crawls and Death Frost Doom are pretty excellent) but the third party stuff is LotFPs real strong point. Maze of the Blue Medusa, Red and Pleasant Land, Deep Carbon Observatory and Fire on the Velvet Horizon make up some of the best RPG modules I think I have ever read.

Too bad I'm working Friday nights! I've been looking for a LotFP game on Roll20 for months now. Good luck user.
