Do only white people play tabletop RPGs?

I don't think I've ever seen a non-white person play tabletop, is it just one of those things only white people do?

>, is it just one of those things only white people do?

No. You're just only hanging around white people.

That said, it's much more difficult to convince black people to participate, in my experience. I was only able to convince my black player to join if I promised to not tell anybody he played it with us. which I totally get.

Outside of America, though, it's a completely different ball game. The incredible plethora of Japanese RPG's should tell you that it's at least somewhat popular there.

I play with a couple of asian guys and a native american. It just depends on the demographics of the area.

>is it just one of those things only white people do?
No.
It's a thing that mostly pasty basement nerds do.
It's just that the percentage of basement nerds is higher among white people than black people.

t. Slav

The Japanese are Honourary Whites, though.

I played W:tA with two black guys a few years back. Power gamers, but fun.

Black people in America have a stigma against it because it's "too white". The one black kid I knew in middle school who played with us lied to his family about what we did because they'd literally actually beat him if they knew.

>nips
>honorary whites

>muh honor is more important than common sense!
>muh seniority is more important than talent!
>muh tradition is more important than innovation!
Nah, fuck Nips. Two bombs clearly weren't enough.

As a black person, I play TTRPGs. In fact, I'm currently trying to get a group together to DM for them a Dungeons: the Dragoning game.

RPGs require at least a little disposable income to get the books, dice, etc; as well as cultural and familial support for reading, (basic) math, and imaginary play.

Sad to say, these things are less common in minority communities.

So, it's not really a 'white' hobby, but it is a middle-class-and-up hobby. And that excludes some groups disproportionately.

>ignoring the idea that RPGs are played in places outside of US/Europe

>RPGs require at least a little disposable income to get the books, dice, etc;
I've been playing rpgs for half a decade and never spent a dime.

The guys who run my local store are black so I don't know what you're on about

This is a /pol/ thread, isn't it...

This thread made me realise I never played Veeky Forums games with another white person.

Tell me of where you live, where d20s grow on magical trees...

i've played with 2 arabs 1 chinese girl.
but yeah, 90% of players are white males for sure.

My group uses virtual dice.
random.org especially.

See, user, if most RPG consumers were like you, the RPG community would not exist.

The people who make your games do so, generally speaking, because people pay them to do so.

unless your dice literaly crack open you don't need anymore.
also
>d20
nigga...

Britbong here, used to game with a black guy up until he moved city. Pretty chill, good grip on basic mechanics, didn't do a lot of the "background reading" on the system, but that's not hard to GM around.
I've played other trad games with a Burger King Kids Club of different races genders and able-ism-ilities, as well.
Actually, if you count Time Stories as an RPG I managed to add Indian, female and disabled to the diversity-o-meter in one session.

I'm a slav, and I like roleplaying. Sometimes I like to larp as a white person IRL.

Sure but I'm a filthy pirate, and don't care about other people's livelihood.
I'm the fringe case which thrives on the contributions and hard work of others.

>Systems using only d6s
>Systems using playing cards
>Virtual dice
>Diceless system, like Microscope or some shit
>No items, freeform only, final destination
>inveterate shoplifter.

At my LGS it's about 80% white and 20% black, Asian, and Hispanic

That's pretty much the same ratio for where I love though, they're called minorities for a reason

>one black guy at my LGS consistently takes 2nd and 3rd in tournies with an ork cheese list using an immortal stompa

>I accidentally call it a stomper all the time and he is very avid reminding me that it's pronounced "stompa"

>I have resisted the urge to make the obvious joke about his dislike of hard Rs so far but it's only a matter of time

It's a white/asian thing, like homosexuality, transexualism, degeneration and anime.

I've seen a black man playing D&D once (I think he was French). And most of our regular group are slavs (specifically Poles).

I don't think it's for fear of having a nerdy hobby considering the fighting game crowd at my university is 80% black.

Every resource needed to play the game is available online for free. Any dice can be replaced by an app; hell, you can write one yourself in a matter of minutes. It hasn't been necessary to spend any money on these games for at least 15 years.

>implying these things are still relevant

Why would anyone who actually has the option of socializing with other human beings ever have an interest in a hobby which guarantees isolation from all but the least desirable people?

Fighting games aren't nerdy, m8.

Fighting games and shonen anime aren't nerdy by this contextual definition. The Yugioh CCG is an honorary shonen anime.

>who is mike pondsmith?
that said, classical fantasy is inherently white-centric, immutably so. if you did change it, it wouldnt be classical fantasy anymore. it will never appeal to black people as much as to white people.

>So, it's not really a 'white' hobby, but it is a middle-class-and-up hobby.
you couldnt be anymore wrong. rpgs require minimal investment and is one hobby that poor and rich kids can play on equal footing.

Fighting games as a concept aren't nerdy

Going to weekly tournaments where you have to be seen around white weebs and paying dues for a club about fighting games totally is

to each their own but...
don't you realize how good it feels to pay someone else after they have done good work?

Yeah, what was I thinking? Those kids from broken homes who don't have a single book in the house will just be able to sit down as equals with the guys who have been encouraged to read since being toddlers.

Except for the rulebooks.
Riiiiight?

players don't need books, faggot. only GMs do. also, once you have picked up a system through actual play, a corebook does not require much reading ability - it is mostly a reference book.

Think of the most religiously zealous white people you possibly can. Got it?

Now increase their faith and fanaticism by an order of magnitude and you've got black and hispanic levels. Now think about the 80s Satanism scare and how D&D was a target for religious kneejerk "think of the children" pearl-clutching. If you thought it was hilarious and retarded how white christians reacted to it, imagine the black and hispanic reaction.

It's not just about reading the rulebook. It's about the vocabulary, fluency, and self-expression which comes from being confident with a language.

But user, how would anyone know feel of paying for good work when buying rulebooks?

To start, you're wrong. I've played with tons of ethnicities.
But to play devil's advocate, it's because white people are the only race that pretends to be poor and destitute as a form of entertainment. Reference: Camping.

It's about 80% white males in this hobby, no matter how hard the SJWs try to "diversify" it.

RPGs are practically non-existent outside of North America, Europe and Japan.

I've only encountered 1 single black player in the hobby, and I live in a very multi-ethnic city that's only about 50% white.

>i attack it with my sword
there you go

>honorary whites

Dude, I'm not a big fan of race as a concept (because there's simply so many different factors in your life that affect you that except in specific medical circumstances your race is irrelevant) but the Japanese are definitely not white by any stretch of the term.

Unless, of course, by "white" you mean "wealthy."

well, take me for example. you order something online or buy a pdf via drive-thru and as soon as the money has been wired, i feel good about it. doubly so, if it's a physical book and i eventually get to hold it in my hands.

>I don't think I've ever seen a non-white person play tabletop, is it just one of those things only white people do?
I'm a black GM. Half my GM are Native, Black or Slav.

My Mexican wife and all of my Mexican in-laws all play table top games. It's anecdotal but it IS evidence of non-white tabletopeers.

My team consists of a mix. I'm white, there's two black guys, a fistful of Hispanic folks (live near Mexico), a Japanese lady comes by every so often for Shadowrun, and then two more white folks (one of which is my sister).

It's as diverse as you make it, and you can make some good friends through it. Reach out and touch faith, user.

i hate to break it to you but skin color matters - for cognitive reasons. you can find evidence of that on any porn site of your choosing.

for as long as the sex drive isn't, i won't be colorblind either.

By that logic, we should divide people by every kink and fetish that applies to their private sexual lives.

It is a very middle-class hobby.

>RPGs are practically non-existent outside of North America, Europe and Japan.

And Korea

Fucking politicians. No-one has the balls to do what needs to be done.

No, where the fuck do you live? Several black people at my LGS, seemingly in proportion to the racial demographics of my area.

Black people watch more anime than anyone I know.

>No-one has the balls
Oh fuck yeah, castrate them, ooh that makes my dinkle go through the fucking roof

>dinkle

I bet you like skub you piece of shit.

>Native, Black or Slav.
Are you implying that Slavs aren't white?

No

Not him, but yes.

Slavs are the cast-off central-Asian steppe smegma of Europe.

...

As a life long ass man I can only feel pity for you.

Yes, the TTRPG crowd is largely made up of straight white males. This is incredibly problematic, and stems largely from POC and the LGBTQ2IA+ community not being represented well enough. I like how the 5e Players Handbook reminds people that their choices with genders aren't binary, but I would still like to see more done.

This is good advice!

We got an all-black group who comes and plays 4e at our LGS every now and then. Only things of note that I overheard:

>Repeated shoutings of 'ERRYBODY RUN' when something dangerous was put into play
>Constant references/comparisons to Jojo characters
>Fucking obliterated cans of Relentless and Monster
>Five people droning the Jurassic Park theme when a behemoth was brought out
>"THIS IS THE ROYAL RUMBLE SON"

>not liking thighs and hips

Nah. It's a nerd thing.
t. Indian nerd.

Literally the same thing white people do except with different references and actually funny.

And they still were the first to put a man in space. Lmao at whites being outdone by fucking steppe smegmas.

No. I've played with a few black people, a bunch of latinos, at least one middle eastern person, and a few asians. I've only been playing for about a year and a half. It's mostly white dudes, but definitely not only whites.

no, me and some of my other non white friends play in a group with some of my white friends.

No, it's just that white people usually don't appreciate other races as much as their own.

I have a pretty diverse group and we seem to do well.

I used to play with a black guy. He was a huge weeb and would occasionally wear a Naruto headband to sessions.

This is correct

The fuck is pic related even about? That has nothing to do with any slavic lore.

you're fantasizing, dude. i didn't talk about any measures. i was merely pointing out that for as long as the female sex drive distinguishes, so do I. and skin color isn't as easily changed as hair color.

sorry if the hard truth clashes with anyone's socialist egalitarian views.

thanks, it means a lot.

skin color is different. cognitively, they constitute different "flavors" of human.

but it surely is more convenient to pretend that it's not so. we're all the same, we're all brothers, there is nothing dividing us (except those damn racists, of course, rrrright?).

Correct. 100% of all roleplayers are white. No exceptions.

Underrated post.

Slav roleplaying community is weird. It consists exlusively of following archetypes:
- Dire Neckbeards, who by all laws of logic should be basement dwellers and be too embarassed to venture outside their houses, but somehow are very social, rowdy and aggressive, even though they smell and have staggeringly limited vocabularies. Predominantly males with a rare exception. Favorite activity: telling you how they LARPed in the 90s and got cut with a broken bottle over lore disputes
- Pseudo-chavs, usually skinny and tall, prefer drugs to alcohol, seem relatively normal, but you know that one wrong move and they'll become completely unhinged and probably shiv you or something. Favorite activity: looking shady and making excuses for not showing up, probably crime-related
- Elemental of Middle Life Crisis, bald and slightly overweight guys who always look miserable and out-of-place, staring at the distance and playing the same uninspired character three campaigns in a row. Favorite activity: cheating kids out of Magic cards during breaks and feeling horrible about it

skin color doesnt cause differences in cognitive abilities you mentalloid.

just different populations with different skin colors exist concurrently with different distributions of psychometric abilities.

we can accept iq as heritable to a large degree and explain most median iq test results between the races and still allow for there to exist sub saharan africans of iq 130 and south koreans of iq 70.

god, why are 1488ers so innumerate.

What does this say and how do I get a copy in a language I understand?

That being "English."

>hurr le Slavs aren't white

Veeky Forums retarded as usual but what else could I expect from a site that unironically likes Space Marines and Morrowind

> concurrently with different distributions of psychometric abilities
> why are 1488ers so innumerate

Oooookie dokie. You got em, coach.

I don't see your point.
Blacks can be nerdy TTRPG players.
So can Asians, and Whites, and Brownies.
Anyone who's a nerd probably likes TTRPG. It's not something that requires a vast intellect.

Western European fantasy draws from Western European mythology and folklore? Stop the presses!
