The joke is not that mixing up the names of schizophrenia and DID is somehow funny.

the most obvious reason is that you want to get as many people laughing about your joke as possible. There are a lot of people who DON'T know about DID, but they think about schizophrenia being DID. So what do you do? you tell a joke about schizophrenia, and sell it as DID. That way you get the people who don't know about DID to laugh, and also those who do know the difference, because they should be able to differenciate between a joke and legit, psychological portrayal of a mental illness. But that requires a basic level of social comprehension, which i forgot, most people on Veeky Forums, especially those who play Tabletop Roleplaying games in their freetime, obviously miss.
