Bit of an odd question, but do we know how much variation exists in forge world colouring?

Bit of an odd question, but do we know how much variation exists in forge world colouring?

The major forge worlds have their own colours, but what about minor ones? Do they just stick with the colours of their founders until they're big enough?

Also, as a concept how is 'Minor forge world specialising in cogitators and machine spirits, ruler wants to build a new Temple of All Knowledge, is basically one giant shitty Wikipedia reference'?

Typically colouration is a 'cultural' thing amongst the Mechanicus, and as such each Forge World is hypothetically more prone to incorporating its own colours as time goes on, though they likely retain close bonds to their founders for the longest time.

As for computer science Forge World, sure, make sure they have a really high number of Rune Priests and are respected for their ability to emphatically connect with machinery and it sounds like a decent enough premise. Oh, I would also suggest considering the 'specialisations' of the Forge World's priests themselves, from a high number of Logis to an equally high number of more traditional ritual-priests.

Doesn't Mars already have something like that?

Also I'd be extremely surprised if minor Forge Worlds didn't have their own colors given how much 40k is about YOUR DUDES.

as its GW i guess you are free to make up what you want.

As for reference, this is somewhat a gol of every FW, but you can specialise in that. Juts keep in mind Admech is not really into this sharing knowledge idea. Yes even among forgeworlds.

>Doesn't Mars already have something like that?

Yes, the original ToAK, if I recall correctly from reading Mechanicum ages ago. Sort of pyramid with an eye at the top

>Also I'd be extremely surprised if minor Forge Worlds didn't have their own colors given how much 40k is about YOUR DUDES.

Also true! But I'm terrible at coming up with original designs so at the moment I'm painting them good ol Mars red and hoping nobody asks too many questions

7 is best
totally

Does anyone have examples of alternate Mechanicus symbols like pic related? I'm fluffing an AdMech force and I'm trying to figure out how regional variations work.

I want there to be a forge world that instead of gothic machine-cant, they play synthwave to honor the machine god.

Grab either of the codexes from the general thread, they include the icons for several major forge worlds

I would guess that they keep the orgiginal forge world colours, and as they develop their own unique forge world culture, they begin to change the colours

I prefer the Chiba City Blues, but 7 is a close second

What about a Secreta-type scheme?

>do we know how much variation exists in forge world colouring?

The basic rule of thumb is "the more red there is = the more they honor/respect Martian Orthodoxy". I mean even the more "divergent" forgeworlds try to have a bit of red on them as a tribute since it's fairly easy to put a bit in there like Ryza does. Another example is Stygies VIII actually adding more red to their coloring after being accused of heresy previously as to say "hey, we're red like Mars and totally not heretical in any way.".

A larger factor of forgeworld divergence I've noticed is armor/metallic composition since a number of forgeworlds have specific metals that they're known thus are used as part of the wargear (see Lucius, Metallica and Agripinaa).

>Do they just stick with the colours of their founders until they're big enough?

As long as they got a bit of red/perhaps a subtle reference to their previous forge on their icon (Ryza's icon being literally half of Mar's icon) they've done enough posturing.

Besides that though most forgeworlds are pretty independent considering that, besides manufacturing obligations, they're free to fight/experiment/explore for tech.

>'Minor forge world specializing in cogitators and machine spirits, ruler wants to build a new Temple of All Knowledge, is basically one giant shitty Wikipedia reference'?

Seems legit user, my homebrew forgeworld was specialized in biology and allied with a nearby knight world before "the incident".

As long as it has either some gear teeth, skull, and/or possibly red you're good

If I had any skill at painting I'd give mine all Hawaiian shirt patterned robes and have them be from the Plastic Beach

Stygies VIII are still hereteks, and the Inquisition, the Deathwatch, and other Forge Worlds regularly assault them while they continue to ship off Leman Russes and be Eldaraboos.

Also, their colorscheme being the inverse of Mars' benefits them and allows them to pretend to be more important Martians and get away with stuff.

10/10 Forgeworld.

Why is the mace always blue, surely you can have lightning in different colours
why am I getting /POL adds on /tg

Oh I know that was their "excuse" but it gets even better...

Fascinating. I never realized this!

What's the green-text say, for those who don't know the Techna Lingua?

It's the filename actually.

i could totally imagine a divergent forgeworld where instead of the giant rolling factories of other worlds everything is minimialized and blended in with the rest of the normal population with the skitarii being the culter dei and jian

HA! Whoops!

Would Culter Dei and Jian Shang Di be rival enforcer arms, or would they have different philosophies?
