In just a couple of hours $2 Million USD more was committed to the auction

We are now at 120,000,000 MANA committed

so what is better investment? buy land, put on auction or hold?

Land is more of a gamble because you're relying on the game to become popular. Holding is a sure way to double or triple your money in a few days.

If the game does take off though and becomes like second life, then you could be very rich. keep in mind this So much money is being put into this auction that I think even the investors themselves playing it will mean this game is going to be big.

Any land you buy is yours. You can make ingame businesses like casinos for example where players come to bet MANA tokens but almost everyone is making a casino so I'd steer clear. Honestly, anything you can think of is possible.

At the very least you can rent it out to people or even just sell it later.

My plan is to develop properties and then flip them to users who want their own, but can't be arsed/ don't know how to build it themselves. Should be fun.

How do you guys think mana will behave after the auction starts? It's not exactly worthless, but it's not exactly useful in the moment. Think it'll attract the attention of people who intend to use it, or just attract whales and sharks who want to cash in? Or, actually, is there much of a difference?

It'll probably spike during the auction as people need mana in order to buy desirable pieces of virtual land. I'd be more concerned once the auction is over.

Well that's the thing though. The auction will set the price of Mana. Each plot will be worth 1000x mana's current price at minimum. At that point, news will pick it up, speculation might begin.

There was a tech demo around somewhere that helped visualize what 10x10 looked like. Maybe I can find it. It was just some unity proof of concept. It's a pretty good size, actually. You could make a small house, but it's just the right size for a kiosk, statue, tree, giant erect cock, fountain, etc.

I read about this ICO and laughed it off.

Then ETH died from cryptokitties, and I now realize MANA's true potential. Might not be all in, but this is certainly a project I'm enthusiastic about.

I think it's a really cool idea. I definitely like it. But I'm of two minds of it. On one hand, I think this sort of world screams for exactly the sort of fantasy cyberpunk they're envisioning. This is something I think the world needs.

On the other hand, I don't know if I'd want my creative projects dictated by the over arching aesthetic of someone else's vision. Also, with the current stake system, from what I can tell, gives you no assurances as to what your role in the world would be. You also won't own the land you buy. This means that you won't be able to sell it.

In the end, it's about what you want from the simulation. I want a space that I control completely that I can use to generate (mainly for myself) art, fun, and maybe a little money if the opportunity arises. I'd rather have a few plots in the middle of nowhere, honestly. I want a little home base in the world in which I can sit and tinker and enjoy myself. I would be alright vacationing to Aether, you know?

That said, this is just my opinion. If you want to support a project, I think it's probably the one most likely to generate a good product. Vegas will likely not be so great, red light will be alright, but that's not something you can enjoy flexibly, you know?
