Its a good first step.

GW is going to need to do quite a bit to convince me that its not run by idiots any more, but this is an excellent first step.

>Run by idiots
>not thinking like me

Classical Veeky Forums opinion.

BB is back on the menu again and thats all I care about

Definitely moving in the right direction and a great response to a demand that was clearly out there.

Well GW have done a lot of things in the past years that pissed of many fans, its no surprise that Veeky Forums would be skeptical at anything promising

hay, guys
havent played BB in years (think 2E). anybody can tell me anything about the rules?

Is a copy of pic related worth 80-90$?

It has the metal minis

What, like when you had to score 3 touchdowns to win the match and there were like 7 stats per model?

It's changed considerably since then, it's much better, at least until now.
Now is the great unknown, because they've made it so much friendlier.

The box in your pic never had metal minis. All starter sets ever have had plastic models (or for 1st edition: cardboard standees)

I'd say your box was worth 80 to 90 dorrar up until today, now it isn't worth much in itself, but depends on the metal models that you have.

I'm on the fence here.
>purchase BB preorder on GW store and get exclusive playoff card !! oh wow amaze !!

OR
>purchase BB from almost any online retailer and get at least 10% discount.

Thanks for the reply, I don't own it, I'm interested in buying the copy. So you are saying that metal minis would be purchased separately as expansion teams to the core set.

As a first time player (played 1&2 on vidya) is it a game that's easy to pick up and play with a friend or is there a high learning curve.

Anyway thanks friend.

>not playing on astroturf(tm)
every other edition is a pleb edition

Very excited for this.

Played the original version years ago, and it was a solid game system.

This is a day one purchase for me.

>Rulebook only comes with human and orcs
>Season 1 book has 4 elf teams, nurgle and skaven
Where's my lizards.

At least they're called Orcs and not Orruks.

I'd actually pay more if a team package would include the team, it's rules and a field.
I'm not interested in playing teams other than Chaos for now.

Dude, the video game is terrible. As your lawyer I suggest you destroy it with fire.

However, the new boxed set is amazingly good!
Don't hesitate, just get it. It's easy to learn and play, and easy intro for friends too: all they need is a team.
It's a really good fun game, one of the best GW ever made.

day one is now, though right? So do you want it enough to warrant paying full price for an exclusive play off card ?

Dammit that is killing it for me. Had it been a special edition mini, idk a cheerleader, a ref, then i wouldn't hesitate.

But paying full price just to get a card doesn't seem so good.

Yep the old world is still around. That parallel universe shit they called age of sigmar never happened in the normal timeline (it even says so in the first end times books)

That reminds me, is the Guild Ball big starter out yet?

Soon (TM) Isn't it listed at £55, making it cheaper than BB? and it comes with the full rules, pitch, tokens and 2 teams.

>inb4 Sigmar's Stormcasts team

oh holy menoth nigga. Why did you say that?
Because it's way too plausible for GW to do that.
In fact I doubt they will even hesitate to take such a gigantic dump on the broken remains of the WHFB setting.

pdf of the rulebook when?

I like that they have the special play cards. Tournament players may be a bit put off by those because they can mess up tactical play, but I loved them.

It's kind of strange, GW closed specialist games because they were unpopular (among usual peopl, not har Warhammer fans) and BB video games wasn't very populkar, so only one question, why?

I've gotten my wife into board games, it took some time, but we are at the point where she finds games she wants to play. Now, with BB, I have a logical and possibly effective way to get her into 40k, muhahahahaha!

And with a Sister's Release right around the corner, I got just the right ingredients! (She is Catholic, and when she was a little girl she wanted to be a nun...weird, I know, but as you can tell that didn't work out...so maybe she'll like the battle nuns)

I'm still happy that I made the switch to Mantic's Dreadball. The sci-fi alternative has IMO better mechanics and a really great team variety already in place, plus it doesn't suffer from GW's tendency of overpriced bollocks.

>way to get her into 40k, muhahahahaha!
>I want to ruin family budget

In an interview a former employee revealed that it wasn't because specialist games were unpopular, but because someone fucked up logistics and they had a lot of unsold or returned games from international market or something like this. Basically it was a case of retarded higher ups.
Now they're back likely because they're easier to sell to new people than wargames. They must have seen FFG's numbers and decided they want in on it.

>She is Catholic, and when she was a little girl she wanted to be a nun...weird, I know, but as you can tell that didn't work out...so maybe she'll like the battle nuns
Screw that 40k noise. Go with actual space Catholics in Infinity. If you're going to get her into a wargame, it might as well be one with actual thought put into it.

I am however happy for the influx of 40k boardgames games. Way to get a grimdark fix without having to lug my Imperial Guard around.

If plastic sisters come out I will inevitably buy them though.

> with a sisters release right round the corner.
Go back to day dreaming. The "plastic sisters" joke was basically about sisters of silence

Ha! That's a good point, didn't even cross my mind, I've never played Infinity, but we just moved to a new city and I haven't gone through the local game stores to see who plays.

No kids, so we still HAVE a budget

>they're easier to sell to new people than wargames.
IMO, but very doubtful, as board game BB is overpriced and if rules are fucked the board game doomed.

They are overpriced, but not as overpriced as 40k itself.
IIRC so far aside from Lost Patrol the rules were decent.

...

>aside from Lost Patrol the rules were decent.
They were bland, especially for their price (Execution Force was literally buyers remorse), and their prime purpose was selling new models.

I'm pretty sure in Lost Patrol the scouts almost always loose.

>I've never played Infinity
Small formats are pretty cheap and a lot terrain are free.

Are vampires in the Death Zone rules by any chance?

Nope. All of the elves, skaven, dorfs, and nurgle.

>Go with actual space Catholics in Infinity
So, Bakunin?
as opposed to those Neo-Catholic heretics who sold their souls to the AI devil?

To actually provide some information on the game-

Dreadball is a smaller, faster game than BB, with a much smaller pitch and fewer players per team. The pitch never resets and the mechanics are a bit less punishing, it lacks BB's extremely brutal risk management requirements and makes it more about managing your limited player resources to get the plays you need.

By this point it's got an equivalent team variety along with a couple of different game modes (an up to six player supersized pitch and an illegal street rules variant).

It also has a few touches I prefer to BB. Scoring requires a roll and is more active, so you don't get the 'I wait at the endzone to run out the clock' problem that sometimes happens in BB, and it also has a fun fouling system with more actions available than just 'kick 'em while they're down'.

There's also a second edition rulebook coming along soon, which should hopefully rebalance a few things to make the game even better. I'd say you should give DB a look if you're considering getting the new GW version of BB.

Nope. They're definitely, definitely real.

played it today at my local GW.
Its super fun imo.
Me and some other guys already preordered it and my GW plans to hold a league season starting january. Really excited.

>Its super fun imo.
More details please.

BFG re-release fucking WHEN ?!

Not for a while, unfortunately. They're doing adeptus titanicus first (because forgeworld thinks everyone loves fucking titans) and then it may be after that. But work hasn't started yet. And it'll possibly just be 30k (i.e. imperial ships only) first, don't know if that's Atia speculating or information she's received.

>because forgeworld thinks everyone loves fucking titans
I don't think so.

What scale is Adeptus Titanicus? 6mm?
I'm asking for Epic compatibility.

>What scale is Adeptus Titanicus? 6mm?
8 mm.

8mm because that way recasters and such can't profit off it yet. That, and more room for detail, bigger models means bigger details.

How large would a Warlord Titan be in 8mm?

well, I've never played BB before so I cant tell you how its different from the other editions.
But it's a typical case of easy to learn hard to master. You always try to get the best situation possible for your players so you are planning your turn ahead only to fail an action miserably causing a turnover and leaving you wide-open for the enemy. Also the random kick-off events are making the game more interesting.

>8 mm
I'm gonna go with
>close enough.jpg

>tfw no GW or FLGS
>Friends definitely won't buy it, but will likely play it with me
Sadness, but some happiness.

Day 1 pre-order for me. I'm the only one with a 40k army of us anyways.

>Not for a while, unfortunately. They're doing adeptus titanicus first (because forgeworld thinks everyone loves fucking titans)
IMO. but more likely they didn't making BFG, because it would be straight competitor to Armada without any chances to win such rivalry.

Dreadball has some good elements I definitely enjoy, things like the Refbot or building up extra action momentum to keep your turn going are genius.
But it does have some failings, some of the plastics aren't great, and the Nameless at least were designed by someone who clearly has never played the game or was aware that he had to fit these models into small hexes and that facing was really important in this game.

I also wasn't too keen on the scoring mechanics. Scoring in DB never felt as big of a deal as it does in Blood Bowl. But real life sports have that issue as well.
I have both games BTW and I enjoy both, but for me personally, I've had more fun with Blood Bowl over the years.

That said BB does have it's failings as well
>so you don't get the 'I wait at the endzone to run out the clock' problem that sometimes happens in BB

Is absolutely one of them.
Plus Blood Bowl only really comes alive in a league, in many ways it was the first of GW's "campaign" style games like Necromunda and Mordheim.

The scale in Epic was always all over the place anyway.
What has me interested in AT is the talk about it being a Necromunda style campaign game with a full Legion as your Gang/Warband.
What I like about that is twofold: Firstly, GW campaign games are always great, and secondly by doing that, they aren't trying to put out ANOTHER edition of Epic, which is something that has had wildly mixed results in the past.

Or Andy Chambers Dropfleet, although right now Hawk are shooting themselves in the foot with how poorly they guaged how much manpower and warehouse space they'd need to stick to their KS promises.

>Or Andy Chambers Dropfleet,
I think FW can fight with Dropfleet, but Armada undefeatable now, I am sure BFG would be popular (at least in first time) in GW stores, but GW wants (or needs) more customers, and didn't see ways how they could steal players from FFG.

You know it!
I actually like both

>£65
>$99USD

Does GW not know Brexit happened?

>electing Trump
>wondering why dollar collapsing
Stupid goy.

You know that the markets already recovered, unlike the UK.

>without any chances to win such rivalry
Only because of the star wars brand, really.

Game-wise, bfg's superior. No question.

Friendly reminder that Veeky Forums has a blood bowl general
And would be happy to play anyone or teach anyone the game though one of the many Blood Bowl Vidya games, preferably the free one.

>Only because of the star wars brand, really.
Not only, FFG much cheaper than GW, FFG can into game-design.
>bfg's superior.
You mean original BFG?

>You know that the markets already recovered,
But corporations now didn't believe in US.

But that thread's really fucking cliquey, seems to be mostly about ecelebs on that fumbbl site, and doesn't take account of the fact that most newcomers won't be play slann or whatever other random teams have been added. It's all pretty impenetrable if you just want to learn about the game.

Man, Blood Bowl General will have to change.

As the person who's run that league for more than a year now I'm sorry you feel that way. Every season attracts new players and we're always welcome to more. It's quite natural for coaches, teams and players to gain reputations over the course of dozens of games.

There's a "rookie" league and plenty of people playing more user-friendly teams like Humans, Orcs and Undead, we don't except people to jump in at the deep end.

I will look into making a flowchart to advise the influx of new players.

okay, then we will gonna vote for the next goldman-sux rep in 2020.

Alright lads, just preordered the $124 box. The Orcs convinced me to.

I find it odd that it's only $99 instead of $100, but I'm not complaining!

Blood Bowl was never in the same Universe as Fantasy Battles.

GW's foreign prices have always been completely unrelated to reality, have you never noticed all the threads with Australians asking why they have to pay 3 times the UK price for their plastic models?

>well, I've never played BB before so I cant tell you how its different from the other editions.
I don't care about it. I asked about how it's plays.

>sell 3 of those new boar rider orc thing for 67 dollaros.

>make a army box with 3 of them in it for 65 bucks.

I would join, but I've already got an IRL BB league running already, and you can reach critical mass with it.

I'll continue to use the thread as my personal blog though.

>The "plastic sisters" joke was basically about sisters of silence

He specifically said "plastic sisters of BATTLE" in the bin joke.

Yeah, but No. Dreadball is shite. It's like needing to vomit, and shit at the same time, that's how bad it is.

The rules are shit, the whole number of successes thing really limits stats on different models 3+ is too good; 4+ is the norm, 5+ is shit.
on top of that i've rarely seen such terrible quality miniatures, in fact they're so bad they don't deserve the name of miniatures; they are green bucket army men quality.

i offered the guy who "wrote" DB a solution to prevent the 3 turn game.
and he turned it down.

I am am in the same boat for almost everything wh40k related. this other store will sell me everything at 20% off too... sooooo hmm

it was, until gw told jervis to say that bb wasn't grimderp enough and it had to be removed.
For a very very long time BB was in the normal WHFB universe.

I remember picking up a copy of pic related for six bucks about twelve years ago. It was obviously a bloodbowl ripoff, but I had a blast with it.

Should I try out the real thing?

People talk about the fumbbl league because the BB news has been jack shit until now. People are willing to teach the game, but there are like 28 guides for it online also.

Actually I would love this, I've been wanting to jump into BB for a while now but the Fumbbl league always felt a bit daunting to jump into

Well the main season has both leagues in play-offs. So you have a few weeks to get the basics and find a team you want to play.

Do you have a guide? I'm most interested in skaven (my whfb army) or possibly dark elves (deldar player lol)

Cheaper than I thought it would be

Still expensive for board game

Pick yer poison. Have the skaven stuff first.

If you ask in the irc, chances are good someone would walk you though making a team and running you through a teaching game.

Is the object of the game still to avoid scoring touchdowns, or passing, or doing anything that might risk losing possession of the ball until the very end of a half?

I really enjoyed Blood Bowl while I was learning, but then I figured out the "correct" way to play and tuned out.

Congratulations, you have clearly figured the game out in a way none of these seasoned veterans have.

Sounds like you were playing scrubs.

>you're

Depends on the team. Often yes. Unless you have a high agility/fast team, then you can steal the ball on their possession, and score over and over and over.

Yup, If you want to play Blood Bowl at a decent level you pretty much have to do that. You'd have to find a group that plays it more casually.

Or, you can try Stunty Leeg on FUMBBL, which is Blood Bowl with crazy stunty teams that pull all kinds of crazy shenanigans and generally people take less seriously.

"Clock management" is anti-football.
