Terrible movie, but it fits shadowrun deckers way too well, especially earlier editions.

...

Watching Conan was always just like watching a movie someone made of their first couple AD&D games.

This is a great way to get in the right mindset to play a non-evil assassin.

Hell Leon himself is a great multifaceted character in general.

...

YOU NEVER GIVE A BABY BLACK ROOT

For when you're gonna run Only War. Better than Band of Brothers for emphasizing sheer amount of carnage and death.

Hear me out on this one since its the best official D&D movie to be made.

The main character is an amazing example of how to play a paladin who has lost their faith and the female lead provides a lovely example of how an evil magic user can be moved away from their wicked ways. Also most of the movie shows just how an evil party of PCs should work.

>This is how I Paladin

I may not be a man of God, Reverend, but I know right and I know wrong, and I have the good grace to know which is which.

Is there a better movie about Druids?

Didn't the heroes not kill a single person in that entire finale?

The only one who dies is Weaver, thanks to the sea mine.

>Somehow OP has the best post

The 80s had great fantasy films.

It was a magical movie, wasn't it?

It's got a lot of my dad and my favorite quotes in it.
"The bones tell me nothing" is one we use all the time. Usually when we can't find anything on the internet.

It's a bit obvious and cliche, but I usually refer new players of 3.PF to Aragorn for what a ranger is. Or "like Aragorn if he could cast a couple spells sometimes"

Before I play a certain NPC, I always watch an episode of Johnny Bravo to get my mind on track.

couple of good character examples in Kingdom of Heaven, in particular I'd say Knights and Cavaliers in both traditional, and Saracen flavors, but also a prime Paladin.

But only the Director's Cut, you mean.

of course, it goes without saying.

Knights of Badassdom, of course. It's got Peter Dinklage playing as a halfling rogue who is raised from the dead due to bardic magic and becomes the badass we all know he really is

The perfect one-size-fits-all.

I've always had my headcanon that when rangers take spells like commune and pass without trace it doesn't look like magic when they use it.
I like to explain the plot savyness of aragorn with some spells we don't actually see him cast.

And if you have a druid or ranger...

I like to watch Dune before playing starwars because I always make my characters sevarcian.

...

Now that looks an awful lot like porn and less like a satire

Depends entirely on setting and class and scenario, so here is a deal, OP - point out what class you want to convey to your players and we can deliver.

Is it even possible to be a paladin and not playing Nick Angel in the same time?

Literally this. Fuck man, this was the ultimate party ever.

I explain barbarian to my players with pic related when I see they are steering toward some steppe horde instead.

great job to user posting movies and not specifying a class/role

...

It must be painful to be illiterate in 21st century

I think Skinner would prefer to die than endure the pain and then all the problems caused by his wound.

And Luigi was...? Because he's the only person I can't fit into any class without giving the party 2nd rogue.

Perfect for any character type, from rangers to rogues, from PF to Shadowrun

Alchemist/Gunslinger?

Oh, right, I forgot about Alchemist

Quigley is how I Ranger. Doesn't matter on the setting.

"Destroyer" is pretty much D&D session turned into a movie. It's the only way I can endure this film, too

Probably the easiest way to explain people what Sorcerer is about and how it differs from Wizard

This movie really captures the feel of playing a martial in 3.PF

>Best rogue
But you were close, I admit

works well for rangers or rogues I think

That was more like Alchemist/Rogue and Bard/Rogue multiclass

If you are doing Psychic differently, then you are doing it wrong

Which was the entire fucking point the movie was making - you can have a fuck-huge shoot-out in Hollywood film, but all you need to do is not kill anyone in it and you can get PG-13, regardless of level of actual violence and carnage going around.

Anyone got any movies for playing a necromancer?

Besides Empire of corpses, which I highly recommend, though the end is a bit retarded.

Epic level Thief right here

Depends how serious you plan to be as a necromancer, really.

But I will say Dead & Buried is always a good pick.

Rogue.

The 3 stooges for 3.PF martials

Bard.

More like this - he stole his own fucking movie by the end.

Rogue-only party done right

We don't speak of that film.

Any other suggestions for the serious necromancer?

No, we don't speak about the fucking modern remake instead. Plus Destroyer is one of those films that is great to watch by the end of the party, where everyone is already pretty hammered but still sober enough to follow a basic plot film

That's it!

Half of "Master of Horros" stories are about necromancy in one or another form. I still pretend those are films and not episodes of the TV show due to the entire nature of this anthology and I highly recommend watching all of it, both seasons. TONS of ideas, not just for necromancer, but all horror-related stuff or even investigation-style games.

I heard that Arnold punished his children by forcing them to watch Red Sonja.

Cmon, the scene with the emperor kid in the ruins of his castle is gold

Cool, thanks I'll definitely look into this.

>That ending
Always make me chuckle

And it's more like Thief-only party, since they are all abysmall at fighting.

...

> What are good movies to get players in the mindset of a certain class or role?
Debby Does Dallas for healers.

I like to think he has one of his films for every parenting situation.

>A's on yore report cahd? Sit daown and watch Predator. Your sibling got C's? They hev to go to the corner and watch True Lies.

High-level bard.

C'mon, singing demon back to the abyss?

you cheeky dickwaffle

>Implying watching True Lies is a punishment
Let me guess - you are one of those people who never saw it when it first came out and you think it's intended as serious action flick and not over-the-top parody of the shit late 80s produced?

Too much rape.

Well, it's an iconic classic alright.

youtube.com/watch?v=u0l7Fp5jTRQ

No, I think True Lies is still decent, just like C is still a passing grade. I just don't think it compares to some of Arnie's other work.

>just like C is still a passing grade
In my country, C's equivalent is equal to barely making through. And shock and horror, I'm not Asian.

Clockwork Orange for Chaotic Evil.

Slav?

>that short chick with the short hair
Oh, I wish.

Brotherhood of the Wolf.

You bet on it.

Getting "3" was punishable for doing so badly rather than a way to give you a prize for looking like a total moron. Getting just one of those by the end of the semester was a disaster, since regardless of your average, you were fucked the hard way by the entire system. On the other hand, it took a lot of dedicated effort to fuck up this hard half of a school year.

It's not until university, where 3 finally stops being a disaster, but it's still far away from perfect, but by time on uni you just need to pass rather than pass with distinction, as you don't need those grades for anything else than passing.
Unless of course you want to get a grant for your marks, that is.

Slavs usually have grades by numbers.

And you use that for... what class exactly? Or skipping classes - what sort of character?
Mani is obviously monk ("stat"-wise), but it's all very wonky with de Fronsac, who can go as scholar, rogue and ranger in the same time.

Is The Thirteen Warrior good?

That's why I said equivalent

It's one of the most under-rated adventure films in history. I still don't understand why it failed so hard in cinemas.

It's one of those films I advise to watch completely green people to get the feeling of what they are up to if we are going to play some combat-heavy fantasy game.

Akira for any broken psychic class.

Because half the cast were porn actors and critics just couldn't stomach that?

Seriously? I've gotta look up some of this porn.

But critis were pretty neutral toward the film. Plus from entire cast, I only knew two people: Banderas and Sharif, so it's not like it affected me in any way.
Hell, I've just learned about the porn star part and I saw this back in '99 in cinema and watch ever since at least once per year on different occassions.

I feel like The Front Line or Taegukgi (both Korean war movies) are better preps for Only War given the casualty count and melee action that 40k embodies.

So...what can you tell me about Hawk the Slayer? Someone mentioned it to me.

I think you have to go into the movie with a certain mindset in order to enjoy it but I certainly loved the movie. The last stand scene is particularly memorable.

If you took a random dude and plopped them into the theater I can understand why they'd be wtf am i watching though

You have to have a certain amount of appreciation for adventuring, vikings, monsters and adventuring vikings beating up monsters.

It failed due to combination of production issues and mismanagement rather than actually being a bad film. To list all issues:
- the budget of the film was somewhere between 130 to 160 millions; you can't see half of that budget, because it ended up on the floor in the cutting room
- the film was reshoot TWICE, once due to technical problems, then due to poor reception of the test screening (people on the screening would have to be real idiots, even for average test screening audience standards)
- the music was replaced three times, each time costing another bunch of money
- the screenplay was a constant legal battle between studio and Crichton, who wrote the original story, this affected a lot of characters really hard (and is the reason why some of the 12 vikings don't even have spoken lines!)
- shitload of delays on the stage (the film was supposed to be released in late '97)
- the budget went so out of hand they were given scraps for marketing
- this was the last "big budget" fantasy-themed film before LotR and Harry Potter movies; made with completely different mindset, it affected the entire production, since the execs were dead sure 110 minutes is the maximum capacity an audience of such film can endure; in turn, this cost the film roughtly half of its running time, since the raw version sent to cutting room was 195 minutes long (the final film is 103 minutes), butchering entire plotlines in the middle of them and cutting a LOT of character development and even basic characterisation

In short - the film was a big victim of studio mismanagement and very troubled production. Originally it was also scheluded as a much lower budget production, but as the filming went on, they had to replace so many people and hire so many names for it, it went from original 30 millions to the absurd (for the time of making) sum of at least 120 millions for a fucking popcorn movie.

Not so much for any specific class, but Ladyhawke must always be brought up in film threads.

Just ignore the soundtrack

>Ladyhawke must always be brought up in film threads
What's next? Morozko?

Fuck off, the main theme is one of the best tunes of movie's music of the entire 80s. Accquire some fucking taste, goddamn it.

And Ethiene is how to Fighter/Knight

Yeah but its the fun kind of terrible.
