Infinity General: This is the Police Edition

Infinity is a 28mm scale futuristic skirmish game by Corvus Belli where space SWAT teams use big machetes and guns specifically designed to cause instant death, because fuck crime.

Slowly spreading the world of Allah , one color at a time. Its my first time working with the green pallet, also how do you do a camo patern on vehicles? Im guessing my TAG will be needing one.

Taskmaster is another of those models that I know are super useful units, but I just don't like the look of. Up there with Jaguars, Iguana and Auxilia. At least the latter will be easily proxied with Spec Sergeants when they come out.

> not playing a model based on looks
Here's some advice from my grandmother
youtube.com/watch?v=9NF5XU-k2Vk

Alguaciles make great Jag proxies. And Iggy looks great, you shut your whore mouth.

I've got an Uberfallkommando box despite never playing Bakunin, so I have good Jag proxies on hand.

I need to finish that pic

jimmy soul was your grandmother

You have such weird tastes in models I don't even know what to say.

I'm not really a fan of S5 HI and Taskmaster looks more like a Morat than something from Nomads.
Similarly Auxilia don't look "PanO" to me. Also they're older sculpts with ugly rifles and janky poses.
Jags look exactly like they're supposed to, but I guess I just don't like Nomads with exposed heads very much. I tend not to field Algauciles either, I usually go for a Wildcat link instead. Jaguars are super useful, but in the end they're just ugly Mexican dudes. Although they're the ones who sell the "ex-cons" theme. I've got mixed feelings about them.
Iguana is just all over the place. I hate the tail and the "cockpit". I like the Operator model much more than the TAG itself. I'm not really into mecha though, aside from Geckos and Tikbalang I don't like any TAGs.

>Infinity Story time
Firs tournament for noobs 250 pts. 3 battles. Won two. Top table playing for first place vs store owners boyfriend. Both objectives taken. both have a myrmidon link on it. Store owner comes over and asks how we are doing. Boyfriend is in dire situation has to take both objectives or am wining. I can firmly see the new atalanta in my hands. store owners goes all "let me help you" and goes back to counter.
the boyfriend starts puting a green bandana on, and the sound system starts to plast pillar man theme song. Three ghazi get coordinated. I open with everything I have. If it was d&d I would be god. But it is infinity so my two links fail to kill two out of three ghazi. They nuke my dudes. I have my wtf is going on face on. Store owner comes over and asks for a pic for the local club. So out of tune I ok it. Durning the pic taking my ass gets groped. now I don't know if I want to play infinity anymore.

Also post the pic taking thing, the store owner comes to me and asks me why such a long face, I say I so wanted to win the coupon for the Atalanta. the store owner gives me one anyway, on top of the price for being second.

>tfw shipment from Gamenerdz has been in the same spot in Texas since Monday
>tfw I live in Michigan
Not like I can do anything with them til payday, but still. It hurts to wait. I just hope they get here this weekend.

>Similarly Auxilia don't look "PanO" to me.
The older generation models don't fit all that well next to the newer ones.

>store owner and bf want that boipussi
>taking pics, giving gifts

Stop being such a faggot and start flirting with them, maybe you'll get more free shit

I am kind of scared, my interaction with the female gender is limited to women in my family and my doctor. Plus she is like twice as old as her boyfriend, and he is more then a few years older then me. She is realy old, almost 30 probably. l know my dad and mom used to RPG with her when they were at school.

Was surprised to see no alternate profiles for the Defiant Truth Dire Foes. The majority of direfoes seems to have two profiles per character, but I guess it isn't unprecedented. But hey, the profiles were placed reasonably on time and HB now can field a full Ghulam core so good on them.

You do realize you're making yourself sound, like, 15 right? 30 is not "really old".

Okay so Ambush Camouflage is just to psych my enemy out right? And probably should be used in conjunction with mines and shit? Is there a way for me to lay mines during deployment as Ariadna? Can my units set off my own mines?

Yes. Yes, but not necessarily. The Minelayer special skill (available to Chasseurs). No, friendly units (and impersonators of friendly units) do not trigger mines, and mines cannot be triggered if there is a friendly unit in between the enemy in the range and the mine.

Okay, one more question, forward observers can target units for others to fire without line of site; does this mean I could have a unit fire through a fucking building at a targeted unit or are there limitations? Also, how's this for a guerilla mine layer list? I know it isn't the greatest but at 150 it seems a bit difficult. 150 is because I'll be playing against friends who are most likely only using starter sets.
MwBgjAPmCsIQ4gVwKYCcCWAbTBDCwBSAJiIE4CB2ANjAIEIxyiAWaAgDmeftpIsuZUexIvwrRCdIkKLQiHdpOnE5Cyb1GVotOu2LBu7EEIACZoA=

It's old enough to make them alien, if you're not long an adult yourself. I'm not unfamiliar with the attitude. They're more like elders than peers, in way.
Don't worry about them, they're not that different. Just deal with things as they come and you'll built up some perspective before long.

>stories that never happened: the post

>linkable forward observer with madtraps
Hope the opponents like getting stunned because this guy will dish out stunning blows as hard as Jackie Chan in a ladder factory

> does this mean I could have a unit fire through a fucking building
No. Targeted grants +3 to hit, but the unit you're targeting still gets ARO (because you need LoF to target it). After being targeted, unless you're using Guided weapons, the target still gets ARO, because you still need LoF to fire on it.

Only Guided weapons can fire upon targeted weapons out of Line of Fire (note that Guided weapons do not receive the +3 from Targeted state, as it does not stack with the +6 it already gets).

The primary reason to take a forward observer is:
1) a FO is a cheap specialist troop, which allows it to interact with objectives in ITS missions.
2) the flash pulse is a decent ARO option on units with WIP 13 or higher.

Look, I don't like Jaguars much either, but they look pretty much how they should look.
On the other hand, Taskmasters are lovely, Iguana is flat-out the best-looking Nomad TAG and Auxilia look spot-on PanO design-wise, but are let down by shit-awful poses.

So, I traded some models for a complete tohaa lot, minus the just released/unreleased models. What is a good list to learn how the models work?

Alright cool, I thought that sounded a bit too ridiculous to work. Thanks for helping me figure this stuff out, I appreciate it.

As for your list, do note that the starter sets are in no way balanced against each other, even if some of them have similar points values.

Some thoughts:
1) It's fairly obvious your Lt is one of the two non-FO Line Kazaks, as it's the only profile in your list that can be a Lt, so be careful where you deploy him.
2) Chaussers are good, though the adhesive launcher's quite useful if you want to swap one of the minelayers out.
3) T2 rifle, BS 13 with mimetism's pretty solid, but you've already got a Spetsnaz sniper rifle and while that's solid, a HMG would be really useful in the active turn.
4) if you want to go hard down the guerilla camo + being really annoying route, drop the volunteer and pick up a D.E.P. Metro. It's not as good as a Daylami, but it does roughly the same trick.

How would I go about balancing them? I think I'm getting a PanOceania starter, a Yu Jing starter, or a Nomad Bakunin starter next. Let's say I'm able to spend around $60. Probably buying off Gamenerdz as literally no store near me stocks Infinity.
Also thanks for the advice on my list, I'll probably do basically everything you said. I just got into the game and am still learning myself, while trying to convince my friends to play with me. Basically all my free time is being spent reading up and shit. Can't convince others to play if I don't know enough about it myself.

>How would I go about balancing them?
Post lists here and see how that goes. Let's see:
- Pan-O starter is a solid 126 points and 1.5 SWC. The ORC's not a very efficient use of points in vanilla, though you can proxy him as a swiss guard or the like. Add an Auxila (it's a 'problem' unit that other factions need to learn to deal with anyway).
- the Yu Jing starter is quite outdated. Not only are Zhanshi not exactly great choices, the Shang Ji is due for a serious profile and model upgrade in the near future, and the Celestial Guard is not very useful on its own in this composition (other than to be a Lt with its higher WP). It's also 116 points with 0 SWC, so it's terribly balanced against the Pan O list.
- The Bakunin starter is also quite old. The Sin Eater and moderator are fine, but the Moira's not a particularly outstanding unit (especially in proper games, where you'll see a proliferation of MSV2 or direct-template weaponry).

I'd probably hold off on the YJ and Bakunin starter sets. That being said, get something you like.

>The unknown ranger is Bostria
Uncanny

Well am actualy younger then 15. So 30 is a lot for me. her boyfriend is 17. I know because I was a junior when he was senior at my school.

Haha well I especially like the Bakunin subfaction but I have read it is quite difficult to use effectively. I'll probably just go PanOceania then, I don't dislike them at least. I like the Military Orders subfaction, is that a decent starter or no?

You need to be 18 to post on this site.

Bro delete this, or you're gonna get banned for being underage.

Other thing of note. "If a trooper in the Targeted state is chosen as the target of Speculative Fire, then the -6 MOD usually applied to that type of Attack is ignored. However, the +3 MOD is still applied."

Not really an exception, just a different instance to what you said.

>I especially like the Bakunin
Bakunin is quite popular. Riot Grrls links are quite powerful (they are strong HI, and get a points discount for Frenzy, but being in a link covers that), they get catgirl doctors, and the new taskmasters are pretty sweet. Chimeras and Morlocks are also good cannon fodder.

Pan-O's a fairly good beginner faction, as they typically don't have a huge number of wacky special rules and the units are fairly self reliable and tough. Military Orders is a bit wonky. Keep in mind that melee is often a very distant second option; MO is still Pan-O, and they're the best at shooting.

Do REM, TAG, Bikes get additional -3/-6 to the roll made from ADH special ammunition?

>I'll show these damn americans how to operate on an european terrain setup, even if I have to do it myself

I personally started with Vanilla ALEPH (aka Vedict) and took Bakunin Sectorial as a second option for games. Now I mostly play with the Bakunin. Can't really say if they are difficult to use... Infinity is a game where you have lots of options to choose from and lots of approaches to take. Our locals here just picked something they thought was cool and stuck with it. We have had a lot of fun games.

I do have to note though that I havn't taken part in tournaments lately and couldn't care less about tournament meta. The only few times I've actually had bad experiences with Infinity was 3 years ago in a tournament where the organiser didn't do his job and there were illegal lists in the tournament but that has been the single negative thing I've encountered. Still it was enough to make me not want to take part in tournaments. We do play campaigns and some ITS scenarios but I've not taken part in grander tournaments.

So if someone is giving you some meta advice, think first if you want to go into the tournament scene. That is where it might matter but most likely won't.

Post picture of Nomads. Lawless bunch of criminals that deserve to be arrested.

But its a very good pic btw.

Mna, glad I don't play Ariadna, otherwise I'd be pretty sad that I didn't get the vastly superior GenCon version.

Awesome, Bakunin it is. Thanks for the advice. And I know melee isn't the greatest idea in this game but I can't help but think it's funny to think about having a buncha crusaders running around with swords while everyone else is being sane and using guns (for the most part). I'd love to figure out a fun way to use Miyamoto Mushashi.

Getting to field Carlos himself is a nice consolation prize.

I still find it odd that there are rules for a billion different, often miniscule things in Infinity, but ballistic shields? Nope, can't have that.

I guess it's represented by the extra armor.

What would it be? A bonus to ARM against frontal attacks? Front-only nanoscreen that can't be roasted?

I don't see the resemblance.

Same jaw/nose. Mouth and cheeks are as close as the mask and size allows.

>front-only nanoscreen
Actually, that sounds really nice.

I'm glad I paid the extra shipping for the Gencon version. At least both RVZs were pretty good.

LI implies armor 1, so, the shield gives +3 arm and mimetism. Effectively stacking cover.

So if I use an adhesive launcher on someone, block any other line of site from other enemies with a smoke, then I can have another unit move up and place a d-charge on them, move out of the area, and detonate it? How practical is this? How many orders is that?

If you can shoot the asshole with an adhesive launcher, you can probably shoot him with a D.E.P or panzerfaust or missile launcher or autocannon and just spend one order doing the whole explosive damage thing.

Yeah, I guess so. I just thought it'd be funny.

Bostria's nose usually reaches even below the chin. Not the ranger's, IMHO.

I have no idea what this game is. I don't know the rules. I don't know what's good. I don't know what any of the terminology means.

I want to play Motoko Kusanagi & Tachkomas. What faction do I pick? What models should I buy that will let me get an entry point to the game with that theme? Preferably female hero + robots. But if I need to take a batou or something, sure.

>Tachikoma
Take your pick of the Out Of Print Maghariba Guard or the Pan Oceania Remotes. Whichever you deem closer.

>Batou

Bakunin Clockmaker

>Motoko Kusanagi

Harder, less of a direct analogue, although we do have a character named Kusanagi.

ALEPH has the whole human minds loaded into robot and clone bodies thing going on.

As for the raw consept of chicks being backed up by skittery robot dudes, pretty much every faction can do this (except Ariadna, chicks get backed up by big wolfmen there.)

Is there a faction that's most appropriate for chicks backed up by skittery robots / mechs?

What faction is most useful for chicks backed up by skittery robots?

Unfortunatly motoko kusanagi is in Aleph but Bato is obviously in nomads

You could just give Ajax the clockmaker head

>mask
You mean the bags under the eyes?
That's obviously part of the Bostria theme.

Pobably nomads, because they have both good bots and pretty even access to chicks with the units. Haqq has chicks, but few robots. Tohaa and Ariadna has pretty much no robots. PanO has good bots, but you'd have to cherry pick the girls. Yu Jing is also a decent option.

>playing steel phallus
>Not going full awaken my masters

Do you even pose, bro?

Nomads. They have great remotes and excellent female hackers to support them. Also Cassandra Kusanagi and Batou-like Clockmaker (whom you'd want in a remotes-heavy list).

There's also Moderator sniper.

Can someone give me a relatively cheap list for a Bakunin beginner?

Is it possible to play Nomads with a Hacker and just Rems/Tags? Or do I need units of infantry like 40k?

It's probably doable, though I don't know that it would be the best idea. Your lieutenant would be blatantly obvious, you'd be super low on specialists for objectives, and your options would be extremely limited.

That said, Infinity doesn't have any sort of mandatory force organization rules like 40K, so you can really run whatever crazy list you want. And you can probably win with it in the right circumstances/against the right opponents.

Most teams are somewhere between 10 and 15 dudes and you will want a few other units who can fill in some gaps that the remotes and hacker won't be able to. But, technically, yes. You can build a list of 9 remotes and a hacker.

Nomads have a ton of cool shit you can field, tho.

What are you guys using to Proxy/convert Shikami, Ayyar, Blackjacks, and Locusts? Care to show some conversions if you have it ITT?

Don't listen to the Nomads scum they're trying to trick you, come to ALEPH, the AI has what you're searching for. Seriously between Asura, Devas, Sophotect, the posthuman qts and all the robots available ALEPH is the very obvious choice.

Appropriate Zhanying Proxy?

Needs more neck cushions, the bathrobe and the constipated mask. But after all a proxy is a proxy is a proxy, it will be fine.

ALEPH has a very mixed bag of remotes. Some look okay, the others look like a tricycle had a downie baby.

Also, that color scheme looks like puke on ALEPH.

>this pic
Spess mehreen stole eldar helmet

not mine, I just snatched a random pic off the net to illustrate the grills+bots combo. Agreed that the color is not the best.

>very mixed bag of remotes
you actually posted the only bad looking one, the others are nice. Maybe the dakinis have a bit of a derpy face but they're older sculpts.

Space memes wish they had asses like this.

In the high-tech shine of the not-too-distant future, there are only finely-sculpted asses

Okay I'll listen to you.

What do I bring if i want to field a noob army for Motoko+Tachkomas? Hacker and some remotes? What remotes? Do they need some models to support them or something?

I'd say for now go to the catalog and take a good look at the models, see if something catches your eye. I'd suggest you to start with the ALEPH starter box, the Posthuman or Deva box and the Rebot REM box, with these models you'll have more than enough girls and robots to go around and learn the ropes of the game. The Deva box is good too, take a look.

To field the remotes you'll need a hacker, and an engineer is very useful but not obligatory. The Asura in the starter box has a very competent hacker profile, and the posthuman box has a good engineer. As for remotes, rebots and dakinis are the cornerstone of the army, very dependable. Other REMs are still good but have a more specialized role.

If there are models you like take them, you'll find a way to make good use of them for sure; contrary to other popular wargames games, there are almost no useless units, everything can be successful if you know how to use it.

Bullshiiiiiit! Aleph have no Tachicomas. Only some bullshit remotes on three wheels. ANY other human faction , besides those Ariadna rednecks, have a proper fucking tachicomas

What are the tachkomas for the other human factions? (Besides the haqq islam scorpion. Not a fan.)

Yeah, with that model I'm sort of just aiming for "doesn't immediately scream Shaolin monk to opponent."

Yeah they definitly don't look like tachicomas

For nomads I would say the sputnik remotes are very tachikoma-like

Maybe not 100% the tachicomas look, but on the other hand we got the whole synthetic cyborg waifu thing covered preeeeetty well. Call me when you Nomad scum manage to make something even remotely on par with an Asura. I mean, Motoko is basically 1:1 a Deva, there's no denying that ALEPH is GitS: the faction.

Reverends are pretty close, given that for the longest time they wore Asura skins.

That counts, right?

This is... Surprisingly practicable...

yeah, I forgot the Stempler and Meteor had FO. You're kinda screwed for classified objectives in I.T.S., but other than that, this would be a hilarious list to run.

Kinda reminds me of my old ISS list. Drones everywhere, with a CoC Guifeng holo1ing as a Dakini.

Counterpoint list. 100% only lovely cyborg waifus and robots, 8 specialists, buildable with just 3 boxes and something else, should be serviceable enough for what it's worth.

Is that the aleph one? The big human AI thing?

nevermind, question answered.

Your robot waifus might be fine, the tachicomas might be sweet but Aleph holds a dark secret no Aleph player will tell you. The dreaded steel phalus.
