This is not okay.

Why not

The greatest betrayals are possible when everyone thinks you're completely trustworthy. They're playing the long game.

>People liking things in different flavours than I do is badwrongfun

Kill yourself, OP.

>getting mad at OP for being a fag

You're doing it wrong.

Beautiful people are evil.

>This is not okay.
it is if the people in your setting still don't trust them and cause their own psranoia-fueled tragedies

I like my environment harsh and magic (-beings) weird, random and dangerous too.
Others don't and that's perfectly fine for them but playing fuzzy, comfy games is darn boring to me, especially if magic is without any danger and a solve-all to most problems.

Damn, user. That art makes me want to go play the Warhammer mod for Mount and Blade again.

You're very beautiful, user.

That whole episode is the shit. Especially the winter one.

T-thanks, y-you too...

FUCK YOU

THAT EPISODE WAS ART

BEAUTIFUL, AWE INSPIRING

She was neither benevolent nor trustworthy.

He said the shit, not shit. Read, m8.

I agree.

I at least want some beautiful men. And not just traps. I mean I want traps too, but give me antlered forest gods as well as wispy fey naiads.

>completely benevolent and trustworthy

Well, yes. See, they ripped out their own capacity for malevolence and stuck it somewhere else.

Where do you think the monsters you've been fighting come from? Why do you think people can be so nasty to one another?

What about beautiful butch fairies who look like somewhat feminine men?

Bruh. I said THE shit.

How would benevolent sexy nature spirits respond to me unzipping my dick?

By fucking you senseless then drowning you.

a) Source? People seem to feel strongly about whatever this is from.

b) It's totally fine, because it gives you a way to have villains enslave and abuse them for personal gain or a sign of status, or as an inevitable cost of developing land for human use and many other themes, ranging from Saturday Morning cartoon levels of evil to forcing your players to choose from morally grey zero-sum outcomes where something has to pay the price. Or my favourite, third solution where a new way is found.

>readniggaread.webm

This is how i always wanted to die.
COUNT ME IN!

Source is Samurai Jack

Weren't the dryads or nymphs date rapist in 2d edition? They would charm people who had high charisma and they wouldnt be seen again for years.

Huh. I remember watching a bunch of episodes while rolling on X. That's about it.

>Fantasy setting has two factions
>One that is in tune with nature and one that is technologically advanced
>The advanced faction is bad

That moment, among many others, in Samurai Jack was kinda confusing, especially close to it's end. What did it mean.

i love how they make it in Thief Universe - there is tow factions - one that is in tune with nature and one that is technologically advanced. Both are shitty and you have to choose a less shitty one... or at least that will pay you most.

While I absolutely agree with you on how bland that is, I still love Wizards. That might just be nostalgia talking, though.
Wasn't there some kind of card game based off of the movie?

I don't really remember anything confusing about this episode

That annoys me with how often is shows up. Not that the exact opposite is much better, but at least that is rare these days, while "nature=capital-G Good" thing is pretty much the norm.

Look, I love nature. But while nature is many things, nice/Good is not one of them, and always presenting it as such both gets dull and sells nature massively short.
On a related note, having things like insects, rats and fungi associated with "unnatural" stuff (like in DnD there is a "blighter" prestige class, which is pretty much an anti-druid, and they get the ability to command vermin and turn into a swarm of insects). Those are just as much part of nature as all the cute and pretty stuff, and splotting nature into "good animals" (i.e. things peopel think are pretty) and "bad animals" (things people are scared of) and acting like the latter aren't part of the "balance of nature" or whatever annoys me even more.

Next time I get to play DnD, I think I'm going to roll a druid of Shub-Niggurath and proceed to not give the slightest fuck about purely mortal diversions like morality and common decency.

Universally evil is also a mistake, just because that means you know what to expect.

Not knowing if the gorgeous nymph that emerges from the water while your bard is playing is going to give him a kiss and a lock of her hair if he sings a pretty song for her or drag him under and rape him to death before calling a hunting party to skin the rest of you is all part of the fun.

If you've got a zipper on your dick, you probably have bigger things to worry about than nature spirits.

Don't most of those settings also have easily-accessible magic that can keep everyone at a comfortable level

Usually the bad-guy-technological-faction side has some kind of magical strip-mining operation going on that will quickly exhaust all the magic in the world just so the ones running the show can get more power (but not as much power as they could if they dipped into the spellcasting classes)

When you do, remember to sing Rules of Nature loudly whenever anyone questions your actions.

It's perfectly ok, they're failing to act like real women because they're not real women.

I don't know WHAT you're talking about, OP. The fae are always trustworthy, and often have the best deals at reasonable prices.

Magic: How Hippies think how shit actually works.

Well, to be fair, the majority of them have daddies credit card so that tends to be functionally the same.

Ponys ree and whatnot

I liked how Rewrite did this.
The "in tune with nature" faction is mostly composed of severely jaded and depressed individuals who blame the faults of human society as a whole for their miserable lives and have turned to the idea of giving up their and everyone else's lives for the sake of "protecting" the planet to make themselves feel that their existence actually holds some sort of meaning and they're not just useless parasites on the world and human society.

iirc in Germanic folklore and all that who-ha, faeries, nymphs and elves were all forest spirits, and they were mischievous at best and murderous at worse

>Ponys ree and whatnot

user, that's a still from Samurai Jack. What are you on about?

That's right goy, there's nothing wrong with massive industrialization that will destroy the environment.

James Cameron pls go.

Oh i just saw the hair and assumed celestia.
I really need to get round to watching samurai jack.

Expect a lot of ponys when the new rpg comes out though.

>mfw I have a setting that is just this
>The plot follows a third faction of sorts
>Said people in this faction have been wronged by both the technological and nature factions in the past
>third faction has a focus on brotherhood and even if the rest of the world hates you atleast you still got some friends

>No technologically advanced factions in tune with nature

That's hippies for you in a nutshell. Applying human morality to nature.

>>third faction has a focus on brotherhood and even if the rest of the world hates you atleast you still got some friends

youtube.com/watch?v=R43dYg_Kuc0

Fuck any factions that have a fixation on one thing like Technology or Nature

Balancing the ideals is the true answer

Who needs that bullshit when you got friends

Everyone knows that magic is best anyway

Well the nature faction doesnt have any hardcore magic but they do have a goddess who can mutate humans in beastmen and other types of spliced shit

So nature guys have catgirls?
Why would anyone join the tech faction?

>Setting has Witch Hunters
>Find out a village is full of people who follow some goddess and are all herbalists

Every fucking time like what do you want me to do burn people for making fucking foot fungus ointment?

>completely benevolent and trustworthy
>ever
They tricked you good didn't they?

Well it has cat boys the technological faction views the mutants as abominations that must be destroyed while the nature faction use the mutants to show the "true face of man"

There is a Warhammer mod for M&B? Which part of the series and what is the mod's name?

So whats the end game of this loner mutant faction? If both sides hate them what the fuck can they do?

This. I kill fucking witches. Don't come to me with a bitch that's doing less than blighting towns or eating children because I'll just hang you for wasting my time.

Not that user, but I want beauty across the whole spectrum. Beautiful masculine men, beautiful androgynous men, beautiful feminine men, beautiful masculine women, beautiful androgynous women, beautiful feminine women.
No fatties tho.

...

Mostly to protect other people who wish to be neutral so they do not share the same fate

>Not magitech
It's the best of both worlds.

kill yourself barneyfag

youtube.com/watch?v=DYKV6BdeWp8

I get "faeries should be assholes" because that's pretty standard mythology wise, but I don't get why you had to add the "resemble beautiful women" part other than just to make /r9k/

Isn't faeries using glamour to appear to be attractive also pretty standard mythology wise?

Yeah, but faeries are a wide variety of mythical creatives united by their being assholes to humans, while OP seems to be
"attractive women are conniving evil tricksters because they won't go out with me"

*creatures

Not him, but ist was Warsword or something.

>Changing an established trope is never okay
please think about this a bit user

/mlp/ please go!

I'm working on a setting, and I've thought about this too. I have druids believe what is natural, including hunger, hunting, death, destruction, disease, etc. is good because it's natural. And things that destroy the natural order, such as society, language, math, money, philosophy, metalworking, are bad because they remove us from nature and make us weaker.

I define druidic not as a language one can learn, but rather as the process of unlearning language and symbolic thought. It has no symbols, and is expressed through body language and raw instinct, similar to how animals communicate. There is no room for deception or misconceptions, because it translates 1 to 1. Makes for a more interesting game mechanic.

I got the idea from Goblinpunch.

>Fantasy has two factions
>The one that is in tune with nature and one that is technologically advanced
>The nature faction is a bunch of darwinists on steroids who only believe in survival of the fittest and are complete assholes

>fantasy setting has fairies, nymphs or other nature spirits that resemble beautiful women
>they're all equal bimbo, pedophile, rapist, or cannibals to some varying degree.

I mean, that's how I've been DMing it at any rate.

We're talking kidnapping 13 year old boys to rape and impregnate themselves before eating them when they're not cute anymore.

We're talking "saving" a farmer's family from famine via turning his children and wife into fruit trees.

We're talking luring young, beautiful, impressionable women into "secret nymph covens" so they can skin them and make magical shapeshifting cloaks out of their skin.... To be more effective at kidnapping 13 year old boys to rape.

We're talking cursing all the villages pregnant women to give birth to give birth to rabbits for one generation because they all unanimously decided it would be funny.

We're talking the kind of being that hides in the outhouse so they can reach up and cup your buttocks when you're doing a number 2 so you'll shit everywhere in shock.

they're not trustworthy. they just give you inspiration and enough rope to hang yourself.

Those that become heroes are those that persevere and beat the odds.

>Step 1. Raid Goblins for spiked balls and chain
>Step 2. Win

>Not knowing if the gorgeous nymph that emerges from the water while your bard is playing is going to give him a kiss and a lock of her hair if he sings a pretty song for her or drag him under and rape him to death before calling a hunting party to skin the rest of you is all part of the fun.

Bonus points if you've met the nymph before and you still don't know.

...

>>Setting has Witch Hunters
>>Find out a village is full of people who follow some goddess and are all herbalists
>Witch Hunters ordered to purge these herbalists because their cheap and easily available foot fungus is cutting into the profits of Big Alchemy who control the royal court.

WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

>how animals communicate
>no room for deception

Eh, I don't know about that. Some primate species produce liars out the ass with nothing but a "danger" sound, and a lot of predator-prey interactions are built on deception.

Take warning coloration for one example of communication. The dangerous guys tend to be brightly colored and have obvious patterns, which is a pretty clear signal of "eat me and you will die." You have plenty of animals that will mimic those colors and patterns despite being harmless in order to deceive others into not eating them too. "How animals communicate" is a bit vague and includes unconscious stuff like this.

Even among more intelligent animals that consciously try to communicate with each other, though, you'll still get some deception, like Ravens being smart enough to fuck with each other over food locations.

Deception might not have been the right word, no room for half-truths? You do make a point though.

Honestly, at this point I'm kinda getting tired of the opposite. Sorta like the 'Evil Not!Catholic Church', it's turned up enough in fiction it's stopped being surprising.

Because real women are mischievous pranksters.

Her reaction during and after their meeting. That's what was weird.

>mischievous pranksters
If only they were that harmless.

>still

Naw man.

It's like that Oscar Wilde pamphlet on socialism says

it's easier to be a nice person when you're massively privileged

when people are being shitty to you all the time it's hard to not turn into a shitty person yourself

Well, OP.
I can see where you come from, but you could also manage to use good aligned feys everywhere but make them problematic regardless due their alien psychology.
Just because someone is well-meaning, it doesnt mean it will do the right things.
Let's make an example. A couple of fairies, learn that there is an orphanage they want to help. They know that the winter is going to be cold. So the problem is the cold. They know that fire is how the humans fight the cold. A small flame cant warm up a whole lot of humans. Solution? Burn down the orphanage with the orphans in it! Everyone gets all the fire they want and some more to share too! Problem solved, yay!
Or, you know, a dryad attempting to 'plant' a newborn human, and stuff like that.

Warsword Conquest

It could be argued that primates are technically the lowest form of humanoid, and thus in the same "quasi-natural" category as humans and goblins and such, whatever that means.

I like how many posts there are similar to in this thread. This indicates 2 things about Veeky Forums:

1) Even given the overall attitude towards MLP, there are people familiar with it enough that they see it in non-MLP material
2) More people need the same familiarity with Samurai Jack

Seriously, every single person who calls out OP for being /mlp/ is admitting they know MLP better than they know Samurai Jack. Think about that.

Thank you anons! I will give it a try.

"Give a man fire, and he will be warm for a day. Set a man of fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life".

/mlp/ is the other board I'm on the most, and I still knew instantly that the OP pic was from Samurai Jack.
I may be a horsefucker right along with the rest of them, but that's just stupid fun. Samurai Jack is seriously good. More people need to experience it.

>they're all completely benevolent and trustworthy

>not having just a few who act like dicks

no shut up you love it tho :^)

>>Seriously, every single person who calls out OP for being /mlp/ is admitting they know MLP better than they know Samurai Jack. Think about that.

here
I do know about Samurai Jack but I didn't know about that episode I haven't see all of them unfortunately. The true irony is that I never EVER watched any of the /mpl/ cartoons, I did not watch any episodes at all. Frankly I never cared about it and still do not care about it. Yet thanks to its apparent success and its rabidly cancerous fandom I have been exposed to it so much on the Internet(yes, Veeky Forums included), against my interest or will, that I still recognize most of the characters and I know some of their names even. It's as cancerous on the levels of the Sonic fandom and that is saying something.

But for example I can tell that pic related is not from /mlp/ and havce been around before /mlp/ was even a thing.

This. They're playing the long game. People forget that when its a beautiful face and a gentle voice.
