Reasons one likes the other

As the old saying goes user, there is nothing new under the sun.
Even more unfortunately, we have reached the era of human history where the sum total of human existence can be forever preserved, and (unfortunately or not), remembered and catalogued, through the magic of the Internet.
So at this point originality is dead. Just go for what's entertaining for your audience

Like this.

I enjoy my romance plots cheesy and cliche though

that bitch is hiiiigh

high on love

and on shrooms

Tracer junkrat is the top you filthy heathen.

...

I don't mind some /u/, but I just can't stand this pairing. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

puns

It's a thing for the same reason medic soldier is a thing.

Mercy and 76 sorta makes sense given their shared backstory, but as far as I recall they don't interact at all in the game. Not much basis to form a relationship on there.
At least Ana and Reinhart do their friendly flirt.

It's mechanic based since Mercy + Pharah are one of the best compliments.

Also same moral compass.

I don't like the pairing because it's not as meme spewing as Dad 76 or gremlin D.VA

that friendly flirt is beyond adorable

...

Yeah, but Mercy Mom, Dad 76 with Grandparents Rein and Ana is more amusing.

>Fuck yeah Grandma candy

>have rescue attempt for kidnapped human girl
>party successfully rescues child but village is burned because long story, fuck you
>they are incredibly reluctant to have a child in their party and are "going to get rid of her in the next village"
>they get attacked one night and kid critically hits a bandit that was going to throw an explosive at the party
>did shit for damage, because child and stick, but after fight fighter says "let's not be hasty now, kid may be useful"
>figure kid might stick around for a session or two more so I roll to see if kid has any magic potential with a percentage roll, arbitrarily make it a 95%+ because theres no way it wi-
>rolls a 100
>fuck
>give her two non-damage cantrips, mend and prestidigitation because "meh those are pretty useless she won't help out wi-"
>parties wagon breaks down and the only group caster doesn't know mend
>group is moaning about the break but suddenly see kid fix it
>"You know what, let's give the kid a chance. See the world maybe. I mean she's got no one else to be her guardians right?"
>Session after session goes on and I try to tear her away by offering churches to take her off their hands and other well-off nobles as well
>They have incredibly successful persuasion and base charisma checks for her to stay every time and is now, apparently, going to be a permanent member of the group
>Sessions later the elf party wizard is set on training her magical powers and marrying her later on in life

I don't know how to answer your question specifically, but somewhere in my explanation would be to have a completely neutral character do a few neat-o things and the players will apparently be hypnotized by it and want to fuck it.

There's a voice interaction where they talk about going into battle together. It could be taken as flirting pretty easily with how they speak to each other.

>but as far as I recall they don't interact at all in the game
>not pocketing your pharah if you're mercy

Nice bronze elo.

S76 and Ana is arguably much better than him with Mercy.

Mcree and Mercy makes alot of sense to bad the gays have taken over in those options

Nice reading comprehension

The dice gods decreed she was to be part of this. Next session make her have her first wizard level

Mercy did save Genji so there's that to go on.

Closest thing to a relationship I've roleplayed was when a superpowered war-clone-experiment decided she wanted to mate with my character. Had her stalking me yandere-style for three sessions before I found a way to make her obey simple commands like "Keep me safe" or "Don't kill my friends".
She was pretty useful in the endgame.

Fuck, I had a pair of support NPCs that my party shipped together really hard, so I made it happen off-camera. They walked in on the guy asking when he was gonna meet her parents. She reminded him that she was legally a slave and didn't know her parents. The party listened from the other room and were the happiest I've basically ever seen them.

The players are all straight men, btw, which is kinda the best part of this.

FALDAR'S AEGIS YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

organically not originally

>>Sessions later the elf party wizard is set on training her magical powers and marrying her later on in life

So uh

No one gonna confront him on how creepy and grooming that is?

Grooming's a thing hereabouts. Just learn to nod, smile, and roll with it.

>No one gonna confront him on how creepy and grooming that is?

I think that grooming is the point, and since he's waiting till she's older everyone just nodded their heads in understanding.

One character asks another out

When your species lives 1,000 years, you tend toward grooming the future parent of your half-blooded offspring.

I mean, they both love huge bombs

They're also both clear psychopaths and love laughing while they kill people.

I love how tracer keeps such an upbeat attitude as she brutally slaughters mercy for the 7th time that match
She's my favorite hero abilities wise

I don't buy it.

Its more like one character is completely in love with another but she already has a boyfriend and despite pretending that he is happy around her the first character is dying on the inside and crying himself to sleep every night while slowly moving closer and closer to suicide.

That's more realistic.

Have it there from the start.

Can non-romantic relationships count, because establishing it in the backstory can work.

Like, hey, I have a merchant friend in the big city from my wandering solo days, or I have a debt to the government of this region that they can call on. Tell your DM and let them work with it.

Med and Solly are only a thing in comp. People ship Med and Heavy A LOT more than Med and Solly

Is this a snake from Xcom?

Can I bully her?

>not subtly setting up scenarios that will cause an "unfortunate accident" to befall the other man resulting in his untimely death
>not being there as emotional support for your grieving love .
>not using her emotionally vulnerable state to manipulate her feelings into wanting you in the near future, once she's done grieving.
It's like you don't really like her?

>Male player asks another male players character out (always plays female characters)
>Rest of the players start to compete for his affection
>Players begin to rise in fame (and levels, I mean god damn they had them from level 1 and they managed to get to 15+) due to the stupid accomplishments they do just to bone the barbarian waifu
>ends up caving in and says anyone who can best him in a fight can have him
>barbarian shits on all the martials
>wizard uses dominate person and forces barb to concede defeat
>player then went into extreme detail on what they did that night after session closed.

Don't make it weird.

Sure

I-I didn't mean bully THAT hard!

>76 + Mercy
>Ana + Reinhardt
>Zarya + McCree

Fight me.

It's just a prank bro

>not liking the delicious rival fucking between Tracer and Widowmaker
>that is also frenchie probably domming a brit

Get out.

>have a completely neutral character do a few neat-o things and the players will apparently be hypnotized by it
>and want to fuck it

GMing 101

Hahaha bitch please. Originality isn't dead, it's just harder.

Keep plotting and writing til your original work becomes great and enters the sphere of influence over future writers. Remove your pieces soul from the tapestry of human creativity and immortalize it. Or complain that originality is dead and WAAAAH.

I get feeling that way but you will never prove yourself wrong believing it. I would rather scream defiance and play the long shot then settle for... Whatever you've settled for.

Have fun user, but keep struggling. For in that struggle you will find yours.

>It's a thing for the same reason medic soldier is a thing.

Are you high? It's always been Medic/Heavy since '07.

Not that I care, but that's just how it is.

Tried it. Playing Minotaur. Bard player kept going on about bestiality.

I stop.

Sad because I never got my second date with Minotaur craft women.

Turns out bards player was closet furry trap escort the whole time when he tells he got a job at a brothel.

...

Only pair the characters if, after developing everything else about the story, they have chemistry.

>mfw only start playing recently
>fetish is muscle girls
>only skin for Zarya that looks attractive is the olympic games one that I probably won't get another chance at getting, ever

There's just no point

This. I'm a bona fide yurifag, but any Overwatch /u/ ship that isn't Tracer/Widowmaker is maximum cringe.

That makes even less sense though.

I just heard 'maximum cringe' in Zarya's voice.

Same here, except for some reason Overwatch as a whole doesn't seem fit for shipping to me.
It should, I'm used to do it for everything else, it just doesn't.

>the merc got all tsundere
Not gonna lie, even as a throw-away thing that sounds like it'd be pretty fun in itself.
Also like a good way to have a romance subplot that doesn't need to dwell on all the details, which seems to suit everybody. Win/win?

It's because characters don't really unite in theme or scheme besides vague futuristic aesthetic.

I fail to see Genji as a sexual or romantic being. He seems to have more important stuff going on. He's got the whole zen bro thing going on though.

Possibly.
There's also the fact that none seem romantically attracted to anything but evil/justice.

Taking note from what I know about my extensive reading of yuri material, I'd say the easiest and cheapest way to make a pairing is to have both of them be the polar opposite of their most defining trait. So you can insert romance by having all NPCs have some sort of Schroedinger's quirk that will always be the exact opposite of the first person to take interest in them.

SymmXRat is a much better ship than MeiXRat.

It's got that classic opposites attract thing, she doesn't actively insult him in the pre-game, they're both designers/inventors, and they're both long.

Also youtu.be/zs5RV4GW01U

>He's got the whole zen bro thing going on though.

God, I love Zenytatta's design and aesthetic but I can't fucking search for any art without seeing a bunch of homo robo Genji.

I don't really like any of the Overwatch pairing apart from Mei crushing on Zarya.

I agree. I don't really understand how people get a romance out of Genji and Zen's relationship. They're both such non-entities in terms of sex or romance.

That said, I think the only good OW couple is ReinxAna because I think old people love is adorable.

I fell in love with a throwaway Shadowrun elf because she pulled a grenade launcher out of a purse and started shooting at Humanis members.

It sounds stupid, but sometimes a little moment of awesomeness is far, far more attractive than a specially designed waifu that can be saccharine in their 'obviously there for romance'-ness

Zenyatta's the reason why I got interested in a game. He seems to have the most spark of originality.

brouzouf man's tastes are OK

He's tied with Symmetra for me for appeal as a character design.

Though, I can't help but feel he isn't just lifted from this Korean movie called Doomsday book. One of it's anthology stories deals with a robot who reaches Buddhist enlightenment.

I think it's more attention grabbing when a character who isn't as developed does something like that. Since you don't know as much about them it makes you sit up and go "oh my, who are you?"

We were once traveling in this caravan with a bunch of NPCs, including a guy who all we knew about him was that he was some shady business fuck. Not even organised crime shit, just a sneaky accountant fucker that was really good at moving numbers around. We get jumped by bandits on the road and after we're done fighting it out we search the caravan to make sure everyone okay. We find the sneaky business fuck, his shirt removed and neatly folded on a box beside him, his knuckles bloody, standing over the body of one of the bandits that we had lost tract of in the melee.

Our bard eventually ended up marrying him.

The best way to go about it is to have it build slowly over time with each side showing that they are getting more and more comfortable with each other until one finally confesses to the other preferably while holding their hand/hand equivalent.

Lovely shrooms...

>76 + Mercy
I ascribe to the belief she tried to kill him, so..

>Ana + Reinhardt
While completely valid, I hate the Reinhardt is Phara's dad theory, because it's shortsighted, but the ship is fine.

>Zarya + McCree
Just, why? Nothing about them ships. They aren't even opposed enough to have it be forbidden or ironic shipping.

I wouldn't go so far as to say polar opposites is the easiest way to go for things. There needs to be some level of connection or all yer getting is hatefucking., which is nice and all.

Do a batman/catwoman sort of thing. Maybe with a more intense or important rivalry to have as a main deal in addition to the romance. That works out well.

I blame watching kim possible as a kid for my love of this idea

>Zarya + McCree.
Please.
McCree + Pharah.

Obviously, the true pairing is McCreexMcCree

Why'd she try to kill him user? She was the first one to stop talking to Gabe and Jack when things started to get heated.

>she tried to kill him
Is that just speculation, or is there something to that? Because that sounds interesting.

>Just, why?
Not the guy you're responding to, but Russians tend to love Westerns and people from outside the U.S. tend to find smooth Southern accents quite charming in general--but that doesn't really mean anything. There's nothing properly extant there.
I like stuff like and think that dynamic makes sense, but that doesn't make it realistic or probable, just a cute flight of fancy.

Now I'm just picturing a soap opera where half the cast is McCree

Thursdays at 12 Pacific (3 EST) it's High Noon. Featuring McCree.

Coming to you from in front of a live studio audience, "It's High Noon!"

I'm not entirely certain how, but I ended up picking up a werewolf as a significant other in a geist game. They were just around, and for some reason I decided to go for it. Some bad flirting, helping then out, and proving I had titanium balls later and hey, significant other werewolf npc.

Each skin is a different character.

>McCree! But how? I watched you die!
>That was my twin brother, McCree

Ahhhhwwwhhh.... God dammit yours was better.

>Is that just speculation, or is there something to that? Because that sounds interesting.
Reaper and Soldier died in Mercy's office. She's also the one to bring back Reaper from the dead and is the only character that's pro-Overwatch stays disbanded.

Because in her eyes, Overwatch was part of the problem. Killing the leaders of Overwatch and Blackreach, while the rumors were flying around, would end those organisations, and it did. They just didn't die.

>They just didn't die.
Obviously. You can't kill Call of Duty that easily.

I doubt Mercy had any hand in Overwatch's downfall so much as Reapers constant need for attention and jealousy that would lead him to try and destroy it (and 76) sky high out of spite. I wouldn't even be surprised if half the shit Overwatch was blamed for doing was just him doing that to build up bullshit to pin on them later through Blackwatch.

That's cause Reaper bombed the place after getting his ass beat and we know he planted the bombs but the getting his ass beat is just speculation. And Soilder also has lines about how Overwatch should have stayed shut down I'm pretty sure most of the ex-overwatch characters have lines like that when defending at Gibraltar.

all mercy wants to do is heal people, and improve her medicine
why do you all want her to be evil?

I think that happened too, but I think that's why she made it look like it was something between them.

Also, she is immortal. Goodguy immortals are rare, especially in Blizzard games.

She caused Reaper and Genji to live in eternal suffering.

I ain't saying she's evil but her track record for bringing people back from the dead include a green cyborg ninja guy; angry ghostman who listens to Lincoln Park, and a grumpy old Clint Eastwood. So not doing so great considering what they used to be.

Well old gods don't exist in Overwatch so everything should be fine

Reaper yes, Genji's suffering is psychological and has as much to do with his brother killing him.

reaper was an accident, mercy didnt even know what happened to him
genji is fine, he seems thankful for the operation after he went through his emo phase, he is a different man now, he is whole

Soldier didn't get brought back to life, he just survived.

No, but there are new ones.
