>The historical alliance of the western kingdoms begins to break down due to a popular movement amongst the plebs led by a disgraced nobleman in the alliance's strongest nation which is an island seperate from the rest if the continent.

The players play undercover agents of the alliance trying to keep this island nation in their alliance. They must fake being one of the plebs and argue the benefits and use their powers of manipulation and lying to persuade the populous to reject independence.

I give this thread 10 replies before it either devolves into /pol/ shit, or into a shrill chorus of the Veeky Forums Inquisition screaming /pol/.

While this is absolutely /pol/shit, you make a reasonable point in that the premise isn't without merit. Brexit could be adapted to a campaign, given the right setting, probably a custom one.

Why would you "give it" any number of posts? This is already bait. It was always bait.

>The Eternal Anglo
>Strongest
LMAOing at your ass rn

Come on guys, this is an original campaign hook and not related to modern day european politics. Keep /pol/ away and discuss how to run such a campaign.

I'm sure OP didn't have any ill intentions when he chose to combine the image with the text.

Well, the premise of using disinformation, Propaganda, bribery, and subterfuge to try and subtly influence politics basically sounds like a Cold War CIA/KGB mission, which would actually be pretty cool a worthy of a chance to survive.

In all honesty, fuck /pol/. Most of the reason why Veeky Forums is so demonized nowadays is because of /pol/. Why can't we return to the old days of /news/?

Good point satan, though you could also take the tech level further back if you replace "the random plebs" with the nobles/elite of the country - which would also make the job a lot more interpersonal, while still leaving you the option of wide-scale propaganda for yeomen and peasant marches

>/pol/ is the reason Veeky Forums is demonized
I'd say it's more because of /b/'s sordid history that Veeky Forums is viewed so horribly than it is /pol/ shenanigans. I mean, sure, modern /pol/ may get more attention nowadays than nu-/b/, but even Most people know Veeky Forums as "That website of Crazy Ebil Hackers on Steriods" than "That Website of Far Right National Socialists".

>Historical
>Alliance
>Of Western kingdoms

It's neither historical (even if we consider the Elysée Treaty to be the starting point it's only from the 60s, but if we look at the actual birth of the EU as anything other than a trade organization it's closer to the 90s, and if we look at the inclusion of Eastern Europe it's 2007) nor an alliance (it's a supranational structure with federal pretenses that ironically has zero military elements to it (that's what NATO is for, at least until Trump dumps it in the trash where it belongs)) nor Western (take a walk through London, Brussels, The Hague...).

The United Kingdom is a western kingdom.

He's talking about in the context of this hypothetical world that his plot book takes place in. No Need to get Veeky Forumstrionic friend.

>Foreign dictator from a land across the sea voiced support for the independence movement, becomes friends with its leader and funds the effort.

This will be the mid campaign difficulty spike, any ideas?

>a nobel witnessing the corrumption at the imperial court decides to stand up fur his Fiefdom
>sacrifices comfarble life to be slandered and haunted by the angents and stooges of the court as he seeks to peacefully free his Fiefdom from the chains of the corrupt court
>trough peacefull means he gets the freedom his fief deserves by rallying it's people
>a group of agents from the imperial court launches a finnal campain to disgrace the noble so they can still force the fiefdom to stay fearing that once one tastes freedom all will want it and there antics would be up

improved it somewhat

>trough peacefull means he gets the freedom his fief deserves
Let's be honest, what has Nigel done other than attention whore? He has only one seat in parliament, was in no way responsible for the referendum being held, was in no way responsible for Britain voting to leave and disappeared as soon as the British people started having second thoughts. He's just one of those guys who happens to be at the right place at the right time, and that's coming from someone who supports Brexit.

offer your players 38 genders, but they can't pick male or female

That's a really good improvement user. Very original stuff!

I fully expected Veeky Forums to be on the side of the Imperial Courts rather than the people

Depends on a lot of things, but an external power offering support to the breakaway faction certainly has its merits - they could be aligned on similar views, or wanting to make the alliance weaker, or have a historical enemy within the alliance

Would definitely make things more difficult for the party trying to maintain union

Wonder how many people will get which other geopolitical event I'm referring to. Probably most of you, to be fair

his constand baggering about it (and lets face it, it was starting to become a bore) kep the issue going strong and the treath of more torry MPs defecting got the preasurre up on camron to finaly set a date on the referendum.
Now he'l be a whip to keep May on track.
>as soon as the British people started having second thoughts
>lets ask leave voters if they would change
>lets not ask remain voters
>if any leave voters are having buyers remorse we will badger on about it for weeks and months

News flash for you: This is Veeky Forums. It has gone to shit since Moot abandoned it. Veeky Forums isn't infested with cancer, it is now the cancer.

I would rather go to the pub and help that swish gentlemen who is leading the Independence struggle. however this is a deep rooted and broad political issue that not everyone is a saint or sinner so i would give the players choice over what camp they choose to align with rather than force them to align with one camp. that way the players can have a look at all arguments and make up their own minds rather than being presented with a clear good vs bad narrative

A lot of Leave voters did express regret though.
businessinsider.nl/brexit-vote-regret-leave-margin-victory-2016-10/?international=true&r=UK

A second referendum would almost certainly result in an overwhelming "Remain" vote. That said, I highly oppose the EU attitude of "let's keep asking the people what they want until they say what we want to hear" so I oppose a second referendum. That said, let's acknowledge the facts.

>the British people started having second thoughts.
source?

The setting is great, its complex and both sides have great merits to it.
its like a more pacifist version of american revolution for independence.

The Veeky Forums of 2015 would ignore the bait but run with the premise. So, I envision a Syndicate-type campaign waged by players against comic book villainish shadow organization called Peoples of Liberation.

To continue, P.O.L. ultimately wants to undermine Russia. But why?

I'd douth it would be ramain now a days considering how the remouners have been getting on peoples gears

>Veeky Forums

lets face it our favorate catgirl jumping ship hasn't changed one thing aside from some new boards

but why compalain when we still controll the meme seas?

>6% of leave voters regretted it
>nowhere does it say the survey size
user... The British people did not regret their vote.

Right above your post bruh.

Yeah, I'd definitely give the players options to join either side - on the proviso that anyone they ask about it will be trying to convince them.

And I'd make sure to have people on both sides who are well-meaning, and some that are purely self-interested.

If I could swing it, I'd add a few betrayals in there too - long time allies stabbed in the back, inaction from potential big players - some with agendas of their own, some who've simply been bribed by both sides.

Eh, trying to keep with the premise and ignore the politics - what's Syndicate, not sure I've heard of that one

Unless they don't play a human

oh stack the races accourding to privilage so the kobolt must be the party leader and get first dibs on loot

Why is Germany so bad at taking over Britain?

We prefer to let the scandinavians do it.

No. the race of demon worshipping insects is top

Because the Germans can only destroy and not build. Forging an empire requires a bit of both.

This blatant /pol/ bait thread gave me an idea: a Countryballs RPG.

Players each choose a countryball to play as, the remaining ones become NPCs. The GM introduces some sort of issue or dispute for the PCballs to squabble over and they have to try and sway the NPCballs to their side, whether through diplomacy, economic pressure, or brute force.

Each countryball gets a suite of special powers related to national stereotypes e.g. Russia gets stronger when drunk on vodka.

>Countryballs RPG
Just reading that gave me cancer.
>>>/reddit/

I'd play it
dibs on Flanders sub ball of belgium
special power is being over looked by every one so I can just fade my self into black, but so can others if they just don't want to bother with me

It's polandball you mong

>First people were told that Brexit negotiations are starting soon and were then asked which of these three options they would prefer.

>UK leaving, regardless of what happens: 53%

well, they have the largest navy in europe by a large margin, they have the largest airforce in europe (maybe equivalent to france currently, whilst they wait for the new fighter delivery)
and a large standing army.

I hate you OP. You had a perfectly good and cool concept, but then you had to go and bait it up with a shitty connection to modern day politics. If only Veeky Forums knew how not to take the bait.
