What are some good rules to follow?

Keep a trinket or a note or a article of clothing or something to remind you that you are in a dream, and that you have an object (if you have an objective). Minds wander far when unchecked.

Have a contingency plan to "jack-out" if you need to. A whole lot of shit that could go very wrong in there can be fixed by simply waking up and realizing that none if it is real.

Also, don't fuck with the owner of the dream directly. It could be a very surreal experience for both of you.

Watch that one Rick and Morty Episode several times. Watch the rest of Rick an Morty several times.

I don't know where I was going with that, but hey, good show, deepest lore, Fuck Tammy.

What I'm trying to say is put this show into your body.

Don't do it. When you get in someone's head they can get in yours. Send in a specialist that they can't get any compromising information from instead.

Dream logic is fucking weird. Odd shit happens and for some reason it makes sense.

ex: You're going to the store through the sewer because your mom wanted to order a monkey some shoes.

Also, the line between weird and nightmarish is very thin. The lady you'd be banging in your wet dream turns out to have three eyes and a toothie cootchie

Convince the dreamer that you aren't a part of their dream. You don't want them to think you're just part of the scenery when their dream turns into a nightmare or else you become an actor in their horror film. Or even worse, they start fucking with your head and you start thinking you're a part of the dream.

Even though it was part of the con I do like the idea as he was tricking the dude into thinking that he was a sort of dream construct made to help protect him and offer him advice in the event you get jacked and people are fucking with your mind to get you to reveal secrets in your dream.

Another thing was when they tried to do this to the japanese dude and he began to realize he was in a dream when he was remembering details about the room he was in

You want advice kid? Details.

The Devil is in the fucking details. If you're going to run a dream ops on someone you need to know absolutely everything about them. Where they've been, what they eat, how they sleep, the exact way they jerk off.

These details are important because if something is off then the mark is going to know something is wrong. They may not be able to immediately take over the dreamscape unless they were trained to do so, in most cases, higher ups and the sorts who can afford the training will have it.

Shit's weird.
And that shit gets weirder when you find out you're in a dream.

Never EVER look into a mirror

Stop watching inception and watch paprika 5 times instead

When someone is dreaming, their soul half-leaves the body to wander the metaphysical alam al-ghaib. Disrupting this tenous link can accidently kill them, or worst, allows djins and shaitan to infiltrate the body. Beware.

Make the environment surreal, but consistent. Have it reflect the mindset of the dreamer. Show their hopes and fears made manifest. Decide what the rules of getting injured/dying are in the dreamworld, and stick to them.

The only objects you can bring into somene else's dream are those you KNOW so intimately they register as part of your body.

This. Shit shouldn't work with the same logic as in the real world, and can change instantly and without warning.

If you're reading, you probably aren't dreaming

A way to implement this would be to have a lineup of descriptions of objects, places, etc, and every time you talk about it you change the description. Your players will be confused, but if they catch on and start imposing their will on the dream, let them. Of course, if there is a malicious entity in the dream it'll start twisting whatever they "spawn in" to be in its favor

Your teeth will fall
You cannot run
You have to go back to school because you didn't pass some subjects several years ago

I always thought that was interesting.
In how many situations are extractors in danger of forgetting they're in a dream? Can they forget during a mission? Do they get targeted themselves a lot?

Scary Terry is a bro

>If you're reading, you probably aren't dreaming
But I read all the time in my dreams

>You die in the dream, you get out of it with instantaneously, but become awake at the same time as the others do

>If the dreamer dies, everyone dies

>If the dreamer wakes up, everyone wakes up

>If the dreamer is in a trance (i.e. hipnotism), then the dreams can be modified by the people in the dream, else they can only interact

>Make sure that the dream has stages/goals, such as the PCs cannot alter them at first, and only confront situations. As they gain experience, they can modify said stages/goals

>Trinket to detect what is 'real' and what is a 'dream'

>Make the posibility of the PCs subconsious be affected by the dreams

>Fuck with the players minds, not the character's.

Isn't there an RPG based on this Idea? I think it was called Dreamwalker.

>Reddit and Memey

What I'm trying to say is put a gun into your mouth.

You might be thinking of Alundra.

Everything is just subtly off because of the dreamer's inherent biases and opinions.

Ebin contrarian opnion!

Let me give you an upboat :^)

I can even debug my code in dreams

David Firth's animation series Sock attempts to have a feeling similar to that of dreams. It smoothly transitions from bizarre event to bizarre event all the while treating the absurdity as if it were completely normal. I'd give it a watch if your looking for inspiration this one is my personal favorite. youtu.be/miQrzviTPQg
