What would be different if Stalker's Zone of Alienation was in North America?

...

Even more guns, if that was possible

Instead of slavs, Stalkers would be backwoods hillbillys.

There would be squatters living there. Not for the illegal trade, but because that there's their land and be damned if any kinda satanic mumbo jumbo or gubmit gonna drive em off.

Constant patrolling of the Airspace

CIA spooks everywhere

The Zone in and of itself would be covered up as some sort of ecological disaster to keep people away, trespassers would be shot on sight, bribery wouldn't be an option

Officially it would not exist

Guns and ammo dirt cheap, entire armories stashed everywhere.

Artifacts are worth less than a can of sparkling water because muh invisible hand.

Libertarians and doomsday preppers instead of Monolith.

Duty and Freedom are fighting over abortion rights.

"Zone hates fags. Thank Zone for emissions."

Campsites full of basketball americans blasting horrible music. If you call them bandits you are doomed to walk the Zone as a pariah and perish alone under the steely sky.

Bread and sausages made in Mexico instead of locally in order to dodge taxes.

Lots of dead kids, because no one dared to approach them and offer help.

Roadside Picnic.

> Would x be different if it was completely different?
Holy fuck

>The Zone in and of itself would be covered up as some sort of ecological disaster to keep people away, trespassers

Nevada nuclear test range.

in roadside picnic it was implied that zones were scattered all across the world, even vaguely recall one being in central US somewhere

The STALKER RPG has several of them plotted along the parallel.

>Sapporo, Japan
I get the feeling that grimdark anime plots happen there

Not really, I mean, there's Yakuza and a stupid way of spelling zone, but the real problem is that the "Zo-n" is full of temporaly shifted pockets... and of course Day and Dark, which don't work normally.

Instead of occurring at normal times, day and night sweep over the zone -- with Dark sending the temperature plummeting to worse than midwinter in the Antarctic.

Out of all the zones, it's probably the least hospitable.

>be American stalker
>get shot
Great game, dude

All the vodka is replaced by moonshine.

Instead of squatting around a fire, STALKERS rap around a boombox.

Their language is still just as incomprehensible.

Barbecue mutant boars get roasted over fire anomalies.

It's set in Detroit, but no one notices anything is actually wrong.

...

Can you post the whole thing?

Nah, sorry, it's watermarked.

Freedom can be Black Blocs/Red Brigades of all commie idealogies/anarcho-primitivists.

Duty can definitely be MUH GUNS AND MUH TRUMP 90s style Militia.

The novel "Roadside Picnic" was set in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, although the location was never named.

American Zone is actually The Breach. You know in The Wall.

Much less squatting.

Harmont.

Indeed, The zone in the book is supposed to be in a small town in southern Canada. Although it still written as if it's Eastern Europe.

Yeah, but then Aladdin was set in China, but ended up being written as if it was Arabia.

People write what they know, even if they don't know what they're writing about.

Mexico? Not much different.

Nothern Canada? Not much different.

I think it may be an attempt to appeal to the censors, writing Canada as 'Not Russia' was probably the safest choice for them.

But yeah Chinese Aladdin is probably a good way to describe it.

Such is life in the zone eh?
