Jack is using firearms now...I don't know how to feel about this

I'm pretty sure he's made use of firearms before, but never as a primary. He'll pick up something, fire it until it's empty, and move on to something else.

He's also been around for 50 years. He might as well pick up something new.

This is as good a place as any, In the trailer there's no evidence of Jack having his sword at all.

Given the chiaroscuro they use between 0:53 and 0:55, I'm guessing that's a safe bet; however, he's been wearing dark clothing to that point (which gets progressively more ragged), meaning that he needs to get prepped before he can do so. Plus, the bloodstains from his wound could still give him away enough to keep it tense.

I don't think he's ever used firearms in the series.

He would arrange for friendly fires a lot, but he's never picked up a gun.

Personally, I'm tempering my expectations, because I just hope it doesn't undo all the development and resolve strengthening that happened in the original series

Bear in mind this isn't quite the same as PPG or some other Totally 90s Kid show getting a reboot to cash in on the nostalgia of college students. This is the original creators coming back to give the series the ending it never got.

Of course I could be wrong and it'll just be a lame meme fest aimed written for people who never watched the show. But something like Samurai Jack I'm willing to have a little faith in.

I can understand Jack losing resolve when he's been beaten down over 50 years. It seems he lost his sword as well, which could have been a breaking point since he can't slay Aku without it. If he's at his lowest point at the start of the timeskip and builds himself back up, it could work.

IIRC there was a moment in the show's run where someone told Jack he had a very long and difficult road ahead before he could finally go home.

Maybe he will be Dreadnought mode.
