Ok, so. Here's my situation.

I am running an EOTE game for a few friends, and so far it's been your classical smuggling sort of business of dashing rogues and hard fights. They started out working for Jabba, but on good terms, sort of in the same sense of respect that Boba might have, but not quite that level. But still, Jabba respects them for their work and thinks they're useful so he'd rather keep them around. Their first session was them stealing the yacht he later uses in ROTJ, more of a gag thing to get the campaign going more than anything else.

Now, my players have started to become interested in joining the Rebellion, and are considering trying to cut their ties with Jabba. Now, Jabba likes them for what they're worth, but I made it abundantly clear that one does not simply leave Jabba's service if he wants to keep you. They have an idea of offering him a deal and a sort of "one mission to end all missions" John Wick style.

So what are some crazy, nigh-impossible shit that I can throw at my players to challenge them? I don't want to necessarily stop them from doing what they want, but at the same time I don't want them to get off easy.

Races:

Clawdite +1 Cunning -1 Willpower, 1 rank in resilience, changeling (spend strain to shapeshift ability)

Devaronian: +1 Cunning -1 Presence, 1 rank in survival or Deception, Auto success in resilience.

Kallerian: +1 Brawn -1 Presence 1 rank of streetwise, start with heightened awareness.

Maybe have them take out another Hutt in a neighboring system for Jabba? One with all the similar equipment and protection and enforcers that Jabba has. They have to go up against all that and bring the house down, they maybe they can walk free. ...and maybe Jabba becomes worried about their ability to demolish another Hutt wholesale and sends another team of bounty hunters after them. Have them kill him and run, cutting ties and maybe a small group obligation for the whole process.

Just a thought, pulling shit out my ass honestly.

>Have them kill him and run

You mean kill them, as in the hunters, right? Not actually killing Jabba?

Yes, sorry. Wasn't paying attention to my grammar!

Why is X-wing so slanted towards the Imperials?

They get the TIE swarm first. Then Phantoms and Decimators. Then a plethora of playable aces followed by Palpatine. And now they have x7 Defenders and just received Kylo Ren who looks to be one of the worst play experiences in the game to date.

Fuck off idiot rebel scum with your victim complex

Reasonably, how long should it take to get a capital ship (silhouette 5 and up) to get from completely shut down, to airborne? assuming that the ship has the minimum crew necessary to accomplish this?

was wondering because I had an Idea for an AoR plot involving the Alliance liberating a number of old Clone Wars ships & other equipment that was effectively left in a field until the Empire could find something to do with them, and the PC's would need to stall Imperial forces until the Alliance to get all the ships away, just wanted a rough idea of how long they'd actually have to stall said imperial forces.

A month probably longer.

Imperial theme is action economy and maneuvering.

Rebels is regen and ordinance.

Scum is supposed to be clutch disposable upgrades and exploiting opportunities ( it's actually about abusing broken, unplaytested ships).

Rookies try to play the Empires game and fail. Just strap turrets/ regen on bulky fat ships that are hard to chew through and whittle them down like you're suppose to and they will try to earn their victory by actually playing the game and flying well.

Hours to boot up and get the ship flying.

>Rebels is regen and ordinance.
>and ordinance

He's making fun of you for using the wrong synophone. Ordinance is for city rules. Ordnance is for explosives.

What would you acll essential, must-have purchases for characters in AoR within their first 1k creds past chargen?

>Sir! We can't handle this new Rebel ordinance!

>Damn! This ship's liquor license was supposed to be invulnerable! Why didn't Lord Vader speak to the zoning committee?

Slicer gear, lockpicks, comlinks, glow rods, synthrope, tool kit, spare restraining bolt.

I also think grabbing the parts for a monotask droid to give you skilled assistance with something you have lots of green but no yellow for is pretty nice.

>to get from completely shut down, to airborne?
How completely shut down are you talking about? Lacking crew, fuel, and launch codes; or fully stripped hulls?

Oh so he's not retarded, just a prick.

Good to know.

well, not fully stripped, a bit weathered, but still operational. Alliance will provide skeleton crews for all the ships, so that's not an issue.

so lets assume that they have slicers to bypass the launch codes given enough time, and they will bring with them enough fuel to get the ship's out of the system and to a "safe harbor" to fully stock them, right now it's just a matter of getting them away from this particular system.

Who know, maybe by bullying you he'll keep you from making the same embarrassing mistake in the future!

It doesn't work like that, it never works like that!

To me, Kylo was just to give them incentive to be weened away from Palpatine.
It wont work, but it's nice in theory.

Kylo is only situationally powerful but in those situations he is much more valuable. The problem is people don't build lists to counter specific strategies, people refine for the best of all possible outcomes and Palpatine minimizes risk.

It would almost certainly take days or weeks to get them back into condition to even lift off. Having the empire show up only a few minutes or hours before they're done is dramatically appropriate, though

Well if you're just robbing ships from starport hangers expect an hour or so with launch codes and a skeleton crew to refuel the ships. Without launch codes and some seriously talented engineers about half a day to bypass the systems that have military grade encryptions.

I'd be more worried about the local garrison shooting the ships down with anti air emplacements that are supposed to have planned for this kind of raid to happen.

If your PCs are going to attempt a smash and grab raid have at least one session dedicated to scouting the spaceport, getting the launch codes, and sabotaging the AA otherwise I don't see any of those ships getting spaceborn before Imperial Star Destroyers show up.

How about something with more subtlety? Have the alliance skeleton crew pose as contractors that are supposed to be maintaining or mothballing the ships to infiltrate/as a cover for why they are working on a fleet of ships at the behest of some Imperial burecrat Planetary Governor or Moff.

I mean, if nothing is broken - assume minutes or hours on a cold start. While as a space opera SW can be a little more pulpy you're still firing up power generators and engines and what not. Reactors will need to start generating power and build it up to the right level to actually turn all the parts on. If you don't mind a jury rig, you might say, dump the power which would normally go into shields or sensors or something into engines right from the start, but, y'know.

Days or weeks of prep time might be needed if things need fixing, fuel wasn't kept up, batteries lost charge, etc. You can probably cut time off the actual launching if during the recovery process stuff like backup power has been maintained, you've already pre-started the power supply just haven't fired everything up before, etc. In TFA the Falcon goes from a tarp covered freighter in a field to full throttle in a few minutes of time - but Unkar probably keeps the batteries and fuel tanks topped up whenever it needs work - and it's not as large as something like a Pelta or a Consular.

Depends how old and long its been there really.
Lot of boneyard vehicles tend to have a lot of their sensitive components taken out to be stored elsewhere to minimise the effects of the elements on them and leaving stuff plugged in has its own set of electrical-corrosion fuckery to contend with. So stuff like computers, life support, maybe even engines in some cases could be stuck in a warehouse somewhere that would mean major amounts of work.

Best plan would be a set of faked commissioning documents, uniforms, IDs and basically 'look like they should be there' -slicers and bullshit artists with lots of skulduggery are a must along with very good mechanics
Course, that leaves the violence careers, for them aside from picking up heavy things and putting them down again, if the enemy has some sort of explody distraction which draws them away from where you are, that might mean not being chased by TIE's or running into a customs vessel (or worse, the Imp Navy) in a flying shit heap that has fuck all crew and most of its stuff not working

Seconding this.

Poor old Floggers, there's a lot of them used as landfill over there.

Did we ever have a random ship quirk or history table or something? I feel like that's a thing I've seen around before.

There have been general ones floated on Veeky Forums before, but I'm not sure if I've seen one star wars specific.

There are also these sorts of threads in the archive. suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=shitty spaceship quirk

Not really. I might try to throw one together during my traditional V-day bender tomorrow, though

>A life debt is a terrible thing to have over your head
Perhapse if they save jaba from some other hutt or an assasin from tyber zahn or something they can be granted one gift or something according their freedom.

You could keep the movie references running and have them perform the BIG one, the full load raw/uncut kessel run for jaba, even throw in that the "rockslug solo and his chutta wookie couldnt do this one, even with that ship of theirs" and its a great way to also create some imperial entanglments for them to use as credentials to get into the rebellion.

I dont know about your players to see if they would be up for that, but any hot shot correllian pilot with a chip on their shoulder is going to jump at a chance to beat the 'illustrious han solo, hero of the first deathstar'

Also there is the old fall back of: run like hell, and hope he never catches up with you.

Send them on a crazy as fuck suicide mission, maybe kill another hutt like the other user suggested.

They succeed, and now the entire Hutt society is after them... Except for Jabba, who offers to cover their tracks.
In exchange for a favor, of course.
You see where I'm going with this?

geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Galactic Empire&d=v4!t!99:100,-1,95,218,-1,-1:-1:14:;179:219,-1:-1:-1:;184:-1:-1:-1:;184:-1:-1:-1:;184:-1:-1:-1:;71:18,144,-1:34:17:;18:-1:-1:-1:;152:12:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed Squadron

My local X-Wing group is considering moving to 200 as our standard game size and this looks fun. I've gotten much better results with /fos than regular TIEs lately, and I own more, so I'm sticking with them.

>200 standard game size

Interesting. How big playfields are you using? Do games take a lot mor time?

We're actually still in the discussion phase right now. Planning to try it out for the first time on Thursday. Also unclear if we should include Epic ships. On the one hand, a lot of us have them, and they're fun, but they might imbalance things in favor of whoever has them.

So we're some kind of Suicide Squad?

The way I heard it, not using huge ships tend to work out in peoples favor generally, although I don't have enough experience with Epic to confirm this.

Naw, it works like that. That very reason is why I nevre make spelling or grammer mistake.

From my experience with fullsize epic, they tend to speed things up immensely just because there's so many points, but also give a huge advantage to whoever has them because they're so powerful and can regen. Probably best to agree no epic unless both players bring one.

What outside sources do you use for inspiration for characters/aliens and etc. I really like Samurai Jack which I feel was inspired alot by Star Wars. Pic related is the assassin droid character I am going to use for an upcoming campaign.

This is for you.

My desires are...unconventional.

The WWE is always a good source of character inspiration.

When I first saw that movie I could never have guessed that it was actually younger than Star Wars (ANH).

Oh, so THAT'S what Lor San Tekka's backstory is.

the 2 female leads in Flash Gordon make me feel funny. Like climbing the rope in gym class.

Isn't this the movie where they reach into the closet and find the script supervisor to read lines to them?

Or was that the Time Bandits?

How do we stat this?

Entertainer droid? Assassin droid? Both?

My guess?
Imperial players are more profitable.

Bonus against unaware targets

Ain't that some shit.

It's a funny day when someone calls Flash Gordon a shitty off-brand Star Wars.

Star Wars was George Lucas' shitty off-brand reaction to not getting the license to make a Flash Gordon movie.

What do you think Battlestar Galactica was?

>There's a world of Star Wars ripoffs ripe for the taking.

Oh they made so many that went straight to vhs that never saw the light of a cinema, so they're the rare pepe's of film now.

Kind of to be expected, with cheaper ships people are more likely to be fielding multiples of them and thus needing to buy multiples while rebels are set with one of most things.

What's funny is Lucas couldn't get the rights from De Laurentiis so he made Star Wars, and after its success, De Laurentiis went "hey we gotta this-a here comic strip property, let's make a comedy like in-a the funny books."

And a weird cult classic was born.

Not just VHS, either. Chris Roberts took that shit to PC and brought Mark Hamill himself in for the ride.

It's pretty amazing.

Tell me of your traditions, Shipfag.

And then we got another cult classic ABOUT that cult classic, in the form of TED.

And in 1974 we got the porn parody as a PREQUEL to all of those!

youtube.com/watch?v=rNuk_boPD8Q

Funny thing is, WC games are great and probably one of the first 'blockbuster' PC games which where hugely popular.
They also made the Wing Commander movie while snorting all those profits, which is quite terrible

Yeah Samurai Jack is pretty damn great

I remember a movie I rented from Blockbuster called Armageddon that showed modified Y-Wing and A-Wing models on the cover.
It was a shitty, shitty, z-grade movie and didn't even have those bastardized Star Wars models in it. But I can't find any record if its existence online.

It's pretty simple. I'm getting drunk and staying drunk all damn day

Of course Brian Blessed was in that movie.

Of COURSE Brian Blessed wan in that movie.

...

Christ, the movie was bad. They could have taken all the cutscenes in 3 and 4, thrown in some gameplay footage, and the resulting product would still have been infinitely better than the actual movie.

And now that we're talking about it, WC3 and 4 would have been fucking great as Episodes VII and VIII.

Excellent.

Be careful posting that! My speakers nearly shorted out.

Speaking of the '70s, you could do worse than using this as the theme intro for a Star Wars group.

youtube.com/watch?v=XR2oct3zeTM

And even this song based on his games would be a great basis for a sympathetic EotE villain
youtube.com/watch?v=C1oF2C7iN_A

Blocked in my country on copyright grounds. For once, being in the US sucks.

Aww balls.

See if you can find "Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun" somewhere else then. Let me know what you think.

Did the beer-and-pretzels user who requested this generator ever post results?

Alternatively, anyone else want to roll up an Inquisitor?

If I hypothetically wanted to make an EotE adventure around the premise of "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World: A Star Wars Story", Would the promise of 4,000,000,000 credits to the first person to find it be enough to get the PC's attention, and maybe encourage some risk taking in getting it?

I'm working on a Corran/Biggs list, but I'm having trouble thinking of a third ship.
I have 30 points left. Should I give Corran Engine Upgrade and use Tarn Mison (with R7 and IA), or leave it off and use Jess Pava (with M9-G8 and either Autothrusters or Pattern Analyzer/IA)?

4,000,000,000 credits isn't money. It's a motive with a universal adapter. EVERYONE will be after that kind of money.

And you don't want "It's a [Mad]4 World". You want "The Way of the Gun".

>Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun
Sounds like a mixture of Rush and Led Zep. Not bad. Not my favorite, but not bad.

This is my go-to space opera theme song:

youtu.be/s98L6vgqStA

How about an HWK? You've already got Biggs to pull shots off it and using Jan to put Corran or Biggs to 4 attack or Kyle+Jan crew to hand Biggs evades is pretty great.

For Star Wars though, if you're not going orchestral, you've got to have that '70s vibe. Waaaaay more twang and swish. More Flash Gordon and less Top Gun.

youtube.com/watch?v=7rOMGIbY-9s

youtube.com/watch?v=aFy35if7d_g

Not that these are nessesarily better, musically, but if you're going for "weird old school camp sci-fi", you've got to turn off the quality control portions of your brain sometimes.

Don't have one.

P-K4's always given me a good '70s-'80s SF vibe, especially the opening.
