Immediately I thought of a comparison between the American Revolution and the Gods-Vs-Titans/Giants sort of myth.

The reason I said it was the gods is because they might not believe it is possible for humans to do that. In the past is was quite common for people to think Megaliths and so forth were made by giants or cyclopses because there was just no way in their minds that humans could raise such stones.

I like the idea of postapocalyptic white people thinking the natives are magical, with all their dream-catchers and medicine men and spirit dances, being in tune with nature. It reminds me of Norse Sagas, which often referred to Finns in a mystical context, because their religion was strange and shamanistic. Patton had a sort of brash charisma to him. Even people who didn't like him admitted he was a respectable and competent leader. The only reason Ike took him off the front was because he started actively terrorizing his own troops. Something came loose in the guy during those last few years.

Trump, for all his talk, isn't actually that blunt. He's a skilled manipulator who's really good at saying exactly what he needs to get the results he wanted. Patton sometimes spoke before thinking. Everything Trump says is calculated, even if sometimes it doesn't seem like it.

I don't get why people think Patton would've been interesting in Korea. It's a goddamn peninsula, all you can do is go up, and you can't cross the Yalu river or else the Chinese would've enlarged the war. If that had happened the US would've had to commit so many troops to Korea it would've weakened their ability to respond to a surprise Soviet attack in Germany. No bombing of China, limited nuclear weapons and only in Korea, and no crossing the Yalu. Truman was the president and wouldn't have let a general start world war 3 over Korea in a manner not advantageous to the US. Patton wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, since Truman was willing to remove MacArthur from his command and he was just as well respected as Patton. Granted, it cost Truman re-election, but the biggest difference in the war with Patton in Korea would've been the whole peninusla under US/ROK control
