The biggest things about their mythology and warriors are probably the blood sacrifices and jaguar warriors.

Blood sacrifices were mandatory since in their beliefs the gods were not immortal and in need of blood (which was a way to transport the soul) to live longer. The Spaniards were part of a pretty vast war everybody initiated against the Aztecs. Natives outnumbered them I think something like a thousand to one in that conflict.

The Aztecs were crushed under the weight of everybody in the region wantig them dead and the Spaniards basically found a comfortable corpse of an Empire they could slip into afterwards. Something that awkwardly fit the way they were trying to get their money's worth out of native communities.

Situation isn't that different from the Roman conquest of Gauls - the region had constituted itself into kingdoms that were organized enough to be made vassal states, which is why conquest and control was possible for Caesar and others. We see them not doing so great in places that had less political organization than that.

That is a false equivalency, there is a *big* difference between the individualistic enlightenment values (such as equality of opportunity, individual liberty, an emphasis upon personal responsibility, etc.) which were enshrined into our founding documents (namely Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence and the works by Thomas Paine) and the set of collectivist notions--such as that found in the works of G. W. F. Hegel, Karl Marx, and most of Postmodernism. The former has substantially improved not only our lot in life but also enables one to accept that we are are all, ultimately, individuals regardless of irrelevant demographic factors. The latter, on the other hand, has only proved to drag us back into more barbaric modes of viewing each other & society at best and led to mass death & suffering at worse (i.e. communism and national socialism)--this being the reason why SJW types are also called "regressives." I know that the game this image is from involves fantasy but it none-the-less leaves me intrigued by a scifi take on mythology and religion. For example, see the game "Too Human" for scifi Norse Mythology or "The Lord of Light" novel (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_Light) which gives a scifi spin to Hinduism and Buddhism. How do you guys think this mythology might be best set in a science fiction setting?
