Let's see if we can get a worldbuilding thread to the bump limit Veeky Forums

The world has nine major intelligent races.

Once every 64 years and the tides recede and stay receded due to a reverse water spout that creates a massive super storm that covers a hemisphere for a year.

The storm is made up of superheated steam and intense, violent winds. A large religious movement believes the coming storm Heralds the beginning of a new age. Instead of recording history in 100 year intervals, history is recorded in 64 year intervals.

Brownies are a small, hard working, and kind race. They are formed from the dirt of the earth and spawned by the magic of their kind. They live for a decade or two, before the magic fades and they're out back to rest in the ground from which they came.

Brownies are only a third the size of Humans, but they don't have any vital organs, sense of pain, or blood to bleed, and must be completely dismembered or destroyed entirely to die in combat. If they lose limbs or are seriously wounded they can heal themselves with the dirt of their birthplace.

They're herbivorous, mostly sedentary farmers, and live with other Brownies in isolated hamlets and villages. They wouldn't like to live with other races, but they're very hospitable to visitors. They're very orderly, and usually don't like any changes in scenery or routine.

> *put back to rest.

The world is in the shape of a cube, and gravity often gets strange around the edges. The races of the world don't know this, and while there are many beliefs about the shape of the world, three are prevalent,

> Some believe that the world is a flat plane, others, the top of an inverted pyramid, but a few believe that the world is, infact, a cube.

Sidhe have all but been killed out since the last great war. They were poised to rule the four corners of the known world, but the mega storm destroyed their great fleets.

Now the remainder of them live in exile on the fringes of society, barely tolerated by the other eight races, but also not destroyed through genocide.

They are extremely talented craftsmen, good with machines, and this trade has made them accepted in other societies. They carefully guard their trade secrets, but sell their tools to survive.

There are three moons, each supposedly being a different goddess.

Satyrs are hedonistic, nymphomaniacal, drunkards with no moral compass or sense of restraint. They have an obsession with destruction and pleasure, which they often combine in horrifying ways. They're essentially nature's wrath incarnate, they fight like animals and are at home in the deepest and thickest of woods.

They are anarchistic, and live in loosely united tribes of dozens or hundreds led by a chieftain, or much more rarely, a chieftess, who gained the position by being the strongest, most cunning, and charismatic individual in the tribe. Most Satyrs are wandering nomads, hunting and gathering to make ends meet, and looting and pillaging when the mood strikes them.

A few powerful chieftains have managed to unite several Satyr tribes and convince them to stop wandering and settle down, forming semi-agricultural chiefdoms were most of the labor is done by captured slaves or the weakest satyrs. Satyrs live for thirty years on average, and mature by eight or nine. They breed like animals, and the average Satyr female has two to three children every year.

Satyrs are extremely agile, and fight with inhuman rage, and overwhelming numbers. The reason the Satyrs haven't conquered the world is their total lack of magical talent, almost animalistic intelligence, constant infighting, and stone age technology. As it is, Satyr marauder bands and slavers are an extreme threat to frontier settlements, and occasionally, a Satyr horde rises up and threatens entire civilizations.

Each moon is a different color, and the three moons rotate and move in highly intricate patterns. These patterns strengthen certain magic rituals and fortune tellers and astrologers supposedly use them to tell the future.

Due to the inability to cross the edges different races have developed independent societies on each side of the cube, unaware that the other sides exist.

Recently a massive digging machine was completed and successfully made a tunnel crossing under an edge and discovered a second habitable plane.

The locals are understandably alarmed.

Your satyr thing was good until
>inhuman rage, and overwhelming numbers
That's some orc shit.

Satyrs were primarily your first description: hedonistic, nymphomaniacal. You don't need "inhuman rage" or "overwhelming numbers" to make them interesting in your world. Satyrs being trolly, wily, pervy shits is plenty to work with.

Tuatha are created by an unknown magical force in nature. They are made of leaves, grass, flowers, and wind. They form into light-skinned, airy, elegant creatures. They seem always to be moving, like a rippling breeze.

Frail and reclusive, the Tuatha are roughly the size of humans. Like Brownies, they have no vital organs and do not sense pain. Unlike the Brownies, however, they cannot be killed in the sense that most races can. If a Tuatha suffers injury, the contents of their form will scatter into the winds, only to be reformed later into a slightly different form. The more serious the injury, the longer it takes to reform. As long as there is air, a Tuatha can reanimate its body of new foliage. Tuatha have widely ranging natural lifespans, anywhere from fifty to one hundred and thirty years before their magic dissipates.

The Tuatha live in isolation surrounded by vegetation. Their shelters and homes are all primitive and natural in origin: rocks arranged into dens, holes under great trees, caves under cliffs, and the like. They generally live in communities of no more than a dozen members. Of all the races, the Tuatha are among the rarest. Some even regard them as a children's tale.

Tuatha do not eat or sleep, and have difficulty communicating with those not born of magic. However, being created of magic, they see perhaps no equal in its manipulation. They are sought by members of other races who seek to master the craft.

Although Tuatha may be found anywhere the wind blows, they all share a connected sense of community for their own kind all over the known world. They believe that they are all connected in one spirit, which manifests in their king. Curiously their king, called The King of the Faeries, has been alive dozens of times longer than any other Tuatha.

There is a tale that every time all three moons align to eclipse the sun, a legendary being of godly power will be born into the world and change the course of history forever.

Currently the land is in an upheaval since the last trimoon eclipse - since no blatant evidence of said legendary being appeared. Several children who were born that day was proposed to be the legendary being, but all this does is cause chaos since people disagree which, if any, of these chosen children is actually the legendary being.

Slithereen populate the seas and shores of the world, they posses a largely humanoid upper body and the lower one of a snake. The males of the species developed to have a stronger physique and are generally larger in size. Females on the other hand are generally more intelligent and those with a magical afinity ammong them are considered nobility with the strongest of them usually taking the position of queen.

They don't sleep, since doing that underwater would result in almost certain death and instead turn off different sections of their brain from time to time, to give them an almost sleep like rest.

They prefer to live in rather large colonies and tower like structures that go underwater near shores, where they can grow up their young and are capable of breathing air when on shore

Rintu are an avian people who built their first societies amid the crags and spires of the Woki River Valley on the face of the cube they call Pakani. Long ago, these societies united into the Karadai Empire, which remains a major power to this day. In the times before the Karadai Empire, an offshoot of the Rintu society migrated over the mountains that sourced the Woki River, across the arid planes for hundreds of miles, into to the humid tropical mountains, where they settled and adapted to their environment, eventually founding a kingdom called Buramna.

Thus, two distinct, though distantly related, races and cultures of Rintu exist.

The Rintu hatch from eggs about a year after they are fertilized. They are physically adults around age 24, and generally live for about 104 to 120 years. Although they have wings, they are not adept fliers due to being slightly too heavy. They can glide quite well, and the ends of their wings are prehensile to an extent. Their wings are mainly used for balance and boost while climbing. The Rintu possess strong and agile legs, quite suited to their original mountainous environment.

The Rintu are stereotypically known both for their cunning, orderliness, and arrogance, as well as their mistrust of the ocean and large bodies of water. The Karadai Rintu are seen more as rigid, conquering masters of construction and civilization, while the Buramnan Rintu are seen as diplomatic, cultured, and mystical.

The Karadai Rintu usually have uniform black or dark blue feathering.

The Buramnan Rintu have much lighter and more colorful feathering than their Karadai cousins. All Buramnan Rintu share the same pattern of feathers, with one darker base color and two lighter colors of feathers straddling their beak and eyes, along their crest, around their necks, and on the tips of their wings. Males are commonly colored in varying blues, greens, and yellows, whereas females can be seen with blue, violet, and crimson feathers.

Although the Karadai Empire began as a Rintu society, it has expanded into a vast, cosmopolitan empire. Though the Rintu themselves prefer narrow heights and cliff faces for homes, this has not stopped the Karadai Empire from conquering forest, plain, lake, or moor. The empire is dominated by a rigid class system. There are Five classes, in descending order of authority: The Imperials, consisting of the Emperor and his immediate family for three generations in both directions; The High Nobles, consisting of the relatives of emperors more than three generations apart; The Low Nobles, feudal lords or honored heroes who have sworn fealty to the emperor; The Commoners, most everyday working citizens in the empire; and The Slaves, people who have few rights and live to serve the emperor, his family, and society.

Only a Rintu can become an Imperial or a High Noble. Among the Low Nobles, Rintu make up the majority, but non-Rintu races are not entirely uncommon. Commoners spread across the gamut of races in the empire. It is illegal for a Rintu to be a slave, as they are seen as “the race that has the divine right to rule.” Slaves are usually captives from war, criminals, or their descendants. Only High Nobles or Imperials may own slaves. Since the last great war, when the empire was threatened, tested, and all but destroyed by the Sidhe, it has become somewhat of a fad for Rintu to keep Sidhe slaves, although they remain an exotic rarity.

On the other side of the vast plains, the Rintu of Buramna build their cities around great temples to their three moon goddesses and perform daily rituals in their honor. They have a great affinity for augury and divination, believing that the moon goddesses send them messages through the cycles of the stars and moon. The Buramnan Rintu consort less with other races and kingdoms, tending toward societal homogeneity. Their society consists of a priestly caste, headed by the king or queen (who is also the high priest/ess), and everyone else. Entering into the priestly caste is as simple as studying at a university and devoting one's life to the goddesses.

The Rintu of Buramna value scholarly pursuits and peaceful relations. There is something of a perpetual artistic renaissance happening in their kingdom, as artists and musicians are highly respected and painstakingly trained. The Buramnans trade openly with other races and societies when the opportunity arises. They have little in the way of military, and have relied greatly on friendly neighbors when protection became necessary.

yall niggas gay as fuck

How does this world rotate? Are there sides of the cube that get little light or warmth? Can we assume even climate distribution on each cube face, or are some vastly different than others?

The Utimate Evil has plagued the minds of many. Initially believed to be a coincidence, people started taking their visions of the Ulmate Evil seriously when everyone who saw it unaminaously described it to look exactly like pic related.

I wrote the bit about Satyrs, I didn't mean that they relied on beserk rage, inhuman tenacity and killing instinct would've been a better word for it. Their emotions are much more intense than most people's, and they show this in revelry and combat.

I think it slowly rotates on a tilt, and the top sides are much warmer and brighter than the bottom. The sides of the cube are warmer near the top and colder near the bottom. It's heated by a small sun that orbits the world just beyond the orbit of the moons, and hovers slightly above the corners of the top side, meaning that it's much darker on the bottom sides.

>Hunter-gatherers
>Overwhelming numbers

Choose one and only one user.

So far we've introduced 6 of the 9 major intelligent races in the world. Maybe we could have one race that's all by itself on one side of the cube?

Also, what are some of the folklore and legends that the current races have?

Any ancient heroes? Any main superstitions? Any great uniters or destroyers?

An overwhelming number of fighting Satyrs user. Almost every member of a Satyr tribe will participate in battle, they breed prodigiously, mature rapidly, and supplement the amount of food they gather with plunder from hamlets and villages. Left on their own, Satyrs will devastate an ecosystem with their wastefulness, but they're much more numerous than a typical tribe of hunter-gatherers would be.

Trickery, misdirection, and hit-and-run attacks ensure that they rarely go up against the full force of their enemies, and their assymetric fighting style means they don't have a formation to break.

Neat. It's different from the standard flat cube structure.

Several species of giant spiders like pic related inhabit the world's darkest depths and wildest forests. They range from the size of a small dog to the size of an industrial-size refrigerator.

Neads live only on the remotest, coldest face of the cube. There they have spread over the years and formed into various societies. They are quite humanoid in appearance and biology, but are about one to two heads shorter than a human on average. Neads are physiologically adapted to survive in colder climates. They have pale skin and grow thick hair, commonly in black, brown, and auburn, with dark indigo and lighter reddish hues being uncommon but not unheard of. Their pupils are naturally very large, giving them keen low-light vision. They can tolerate cold temperatures better than most, can breathe sufficiently in thin air, and easily hold their breath underwater for several minutes at a time.

They do not have a uniform culture, but instead live in many different civilizations coexisting across the two continents they know. From hunter-gatherers to farmers to merchants and scholars and soldiers, Neads as a species are a diverse lot. Most of the larger Nead societies live close to, and rely on, the sea.

The Neadic cube face is dominated by a cold ocean and two small continents. The “western” continent is the bigger of the two, and is covered mainly in taiga, tundra, and glaciers. The “eastern” continent is smaller than the west, and much more rocky. Most of it is dominated by jagged peaks and icy glaciers, though there are a few coastal and valley regions that are more hospitable. The two continents are connected by a thin isthmus that becomes a flooded, salty swamp in the warm months, and an icy, barren land in the cold months.

The world is controlled by psychic pedophilic vampires who work to hasten the technological singularity, with the intention of creating and merging with a silicon god and using the human hivemind's collective spiritual energy to ascend to the ninth dimension to join league with the demonic celestial beings who live there.

Keep in mind, this is a fictional setting.

>Also, what are some of the folklore and legends that the current races have?
Legends of a gigantic beast lurking deep in the ocean, this Leviathan is said to eventually end all live.
Legends arround an ancient artifact, a triedent that has control over the tides and at one point was used to flood an entire side of the cube.
Many tales about this weapon keep beeing told to this day, jet no one ever came close to finding as much of a hint of it's location.
The blood of Endotherm creatures is said to increase male potentcy. It's of course bonkers but that doesn't stop some of them from trying.
Tales of a legendary ruler that shall one day return in the time of need to save them from a great perill.

>Any ancient heroes? Any main superstitions? Any great uniters or destroyers?

A legendary warrior is said to at one point have wounded the Leviathan and his heroic act of self sacrifice delayed the apocalypse.
Queen Scherazade once ruled over the Slithereen as a whole, but with her death the kingdom fell appart in conflict, she never appointed an heir and her daughters lead the kingdom into civil war. The stories of her reign serve as the foundation of most mesiah legends.

Sounds cute and delicious.
