I'm hoping I don't regret this, but I'm in need of some advice from from you smar/tg/uys. Also, pic semi-related (only drow I had that wasn't anime or fetishy at the moment).
Basically, I'm changing the Drow up slightly in my 5e D&D campaign (in before "don't play D&D"), and I thought that instead of just spiders, they have integrated other arachnids and insects into their society. The race claims dominion of a massive jungle/swamp, so I felt that giant bugs would help vary them up a bit.
So far: I have:
Nobles: Spiders - kind of a given, using their silk as a sign of rank.
Warriors, ground cavalry: Either Scorpions or Giant Stag Beetles, and wear 'chitin' armor (functionally similar to plate, but slightly lighter.)
Warriors, airborn: Dragonfly Riders, specializing in archery.
Priests: Centipedes
Mages: Here's where I get stuck. I can't think of an insect/arachnid suitable for arcane spellcasters to associate themselves with.
Peasants/Lower Class: Common Beetles, used as dray animals.
Eberron Drow are actually jungle-elves. Although they also focus on scorpions almost as much as the underground variant we all know and love, you may be able to get some ideas from them.

They could be lightning bugs, bombardier beetles, fire ants or any other bug that seems to draw on elemental powers.
Or they could be wasp or termite like... holed up in academic hives, studying arcane secrets hidden away in infinitely complex laboratories. Their process is creation through destruction. They have an alien, hierarchal discipline whose insularity makes them a mystery even to the government they serve.
