The only system I know of that actually does modern well is GURPS, so that might be a somewhat hard sell. But the people I tabletop with are the same people I vidya with, and they're a pack of ravenous fucking murderhobos in either medium so maybe they'd be willing to put up with the system for consequence-free modern violence.
