Okay that *is* a really cool idea, definitely gonna use that. Thanks OP!

trite and played-out tbqh

Who cares if it is to you. Obviously you don't speak for them all

Wizard Vision!

It was probably a magical sensor. Someone was scrying on you. Piss off any sorcerers/Diviners lately?

Sounds like a nice concept but a rather poor execution. I think it should be like a Ravenloft's powers check (roll d% with a certain chance of failure) and then once you start failing checks you get more perks

Fuck off, frogposter.

Aw, come on, friend. I found this post interesting, even if it was low effort.
So do any of you guys have any interesting stories about times you've dropped eerie shit on your players/been spooked like this?

>go to start a simple campfire
>"which one of you has the [item] again?"
>uh, me...
>"I need you to roll"

>>in addition to stalker, clairvoyance orb appears
>>ask what the weird orb is
>>clairvoyance orb pops out of existence
Maybe it did run out of HP

>through the breach campaign
>party keeps meeting with a strange magical man who appears to be watching our adventure for fun
>I recently got a power that lets me remove illusions/magical disguises
>cast it on him for shits and giggles
>he turns out to be pic related

bricks were shat

>party in a tavern
>man in corner is suspicious
>apparently smells weird
>seems to be weirdly shaped
>make a joke that he's probably two goblins in a long coat trying to pass as human
>guy casts detect lifeforms
>good roll
>"you see the party and some worms"
>what about the guy
>"you see the party and some worms... that's it"
>think he's made of worms
>one guy suddenly realises the character didn't see anyone else in the tavern

>the tavern is worms
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

>Worm That Accomodates

Seems like they're in an illusion cast over a graveyard. Spooky. Is there a reference I'm missing.

>GM says "there's a frightening message written on the wall in blood, roll to save vs insanity"
>"I succeed, since I can't read"
>"You can read this one.
shit like this always spooks me

>The tavern is implied to be full of people
>They think one dude is weird
>They attempt to figure out what he is
>It turns out everyone but the party in the tavern is actually 2spooky.

>Sounds like a nice concept but a rather poor execution
literally every post in Goblinpunch including mechanics

>literally every post in Goblinpunch including mechanics

It does require a fair bit of hammering to make it work... but hey, at least the concepts are nice. Beats most of the threads around here.

As far as "reveal illusion" type spooky shit goes, I'm partial to the "enlightening drug trip". It goes something like
>see nice peaceful country cottage, picket fence, birds chirping, the works, comfy af
>suddenly all sound goes out, movement stops, and a literal tear in reality rips apart
>several shadowlike beings appear, one turns to you and says something like "what are you doing here, you're not supposed to see this"
>they climb through the rift and zip it up from the other side, leaving no trace
>reality resumes, birds chirping again
>it is no longer comfy
