It's bad in the worst way: boring bad. Destroyer was probably a worse film on a technical level, but still far more enjoyable. The only good Conan film is Conan the Barbarian.

I also didn't like the original Heavy Metal all that much. They should have just made the skeleton segment into its own movie, the rest of it was garbage and the final segment was boldly plagiarised from Mœbius.

Dude, all those segments in the film were actual things from the HM comic series. I don't remember who drew Taarna, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Moebius.

It's a movie without a focus, the link between the scenes is thin, and Momoa can't pull out an half-decent Conan (to be fair he kinda tries: it's the script, that it's not trying at all).

Thing with Conan is he's a character who's supposed to be likable and charismatic. Momoa is awesome and I love him in other stuff but let's be honest: he looks like a violent maniac. This works absolutely amazing for Khal Drogo or that crazy Injun trapper in "Frontier" but not so much for a man who would be king.

Contrast with Arnold, who has an agreeable air to him. You can't help but really like him and even in crummy movies he's still a lot of fun to watch. You can totally understand why people he encounters in the movie want to be around him.

In some fairness to Momoa though he is beginning to get better at conveying friendliness and likability. But it's still a far cry from Arnold's natural charisma.
