It's gambling, but skilled gambling -- think 21, not slots. Hence the correct term isn't "investing", it's "speculation".

They're very similar, but gambling involves pure risk and relies on the concept of luck to win. If you consider crypto gambling then by definition every time you trust anything with any of your money is included. Mutual Funds, stocks, real estate, art purchases... crypto is certainly riskier than most things, but being able to have knowledge of environment before placing positions isn't pure gambling. As a matter of fact, those with such knowledge while gambling carries another name... cheating

- investing is when the goal is so all sides benefit (e.g. user gets ROI, coin developers get paid, consumers have reduced costs)

- gambling is when you win if you guessed right (and someone or the house loses)

If you're trying to fuck someone over, it's gambling. If you're working with someone to achieve something, it's investing.

It's hard to prove which it is, because it's based on intention.

The difference is risks is: betting on the future demand for utility (investing) vs betting on the speculation on price (gambling).

I don't condemn either. If you're gambling for fun, you're ok. If you're investing, you shouldn't be called a gambler.
