That's not possible because the vast majority of the ETH used to catch mons is spent paying dividends. I wouldn't mess with mon prices, I'd just focus on getting battles and trading implemented so the original mons can be valuable for their unique features, and then introduce new even cheaper/lower return mons.

That's basically what I said. You're not going to get returns on your original mons when people buy the new cheaper ones. The original mons value comes from people actually wanting to buy them from you, rather than from the rapidly increasing catch costs. New mons need absolutely need to be cheaper and with a lower return so they don't rise so rapidly in price.

All the existing mons were just fucking eggs while they were selling at their peak rates, so I don't think quality will matter much in the short term.

Everyone treated it like a ponzi but if that's all it was it would never be sustainable in the first place and gen 0 would be guaranteed bagholders. These mons are much more expensive to catch so there won't be any dilution in the market. I think they'll be quite valuable in trading, with the catch price as a continually rising upper bound on how much you'd get in the second hand market, unless yours has a very high BP, which will likely be a big determinant of value as well and possibly even worth more than a fresh catch with random BP.

This game is a straight up scam. There's nothing decentralized about it besides it being a smart contract. The owner controls everything about the game. The owner can add/remove mons from players, the owner can withdraw all the funds from the contract leaving no payout for players, the owner can create as many mons as they want with any price.

It's just the owners taking money from greedy people. The devs are anonymous for christ's sake, with domain information hidden.

That's never going to happen. Almost the entire price of the mons is already dividends. Their current prices are just about as low as you can get while still paying existing owners. What you're describing would make this even more of a ponzi. The returns are an incentive for early adoption, not the primary reason to hold a mon.

On the plus side, combining two mons into one is one of the planned features, so mons can be destroyed which means some people will destroy the mon you're holding, bringing the catch price down (one less mon to pay) and thus resulting in more overall sales and returns for you.

The entire price is dividends, period. Take the current price and divide by return, you calculate the current mons owned.

I'm pretty sure there was a small flat rate on top of that. At least there definitely was for MissingNo. because it cost 4.05 ETH with 80 worldwide caught. So catching the 81st would pay a total of 4 ETH to the 80 previous holders and then 0.05 would get left in the contract as profit.

The cost for any mon seems to be return * (total caught + 1)

So yeah the dev gets almost nothing, equivalent returns to holding one of each mon. At least they get a decent payday for all the baseline sales before it catches up with the return, though. That's good because it means they're highly incentivized to always make new Etheremons and keep the game alive.
