Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. The Kickstarter was nearly 300% funded, and we're on the fast track to kicking ass baby.

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Here's a wiki detailing SoS's fantasy setting, getting filled up bit by bit as Jimmy reveals more details:

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w
If you're looking to learn, post here in the thread.

We also play Guy Windsor's card game Audatia in the room, but now we have a much better way to play Audatia: Tabletop Simulator! The (official!) mod for Audatia is now up and running!

Post settings you want to use SoS for.

I used to see a lot of people wanting to do Dark Souls or A Song of Ice & Fire with SoS, but as far as I know no ones actually done it or gotten anywhere with it.

If historical settings count I hope to someday run a campaign in the Imjin War. Or at least a prelude to a campaign that takes place there.

Tattered Realms

hope to actually run the thing at all.

Just run it as a one-shot, or a series of one-shots.

SoS shines best when its an isolated event, or series of events.
The in between of fights is sort of a grey area that almost might as well be free form

Essentially, yeah.

I'm trying to cook up a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. supplement. It's going very slow though.

Also I thought of converting Eclipse Phase to this ruleset. I think a dice pool would work nicely with it, since your Attributes change everytime you resleeve. When using SoS with TRoS style skills you'd have much less to recalculate when resleeving.

My own. But I'll wait for Ballad for it to work.

Meanwhile in Venezuela

Each teargas canister apparently costs enough to feed a person for a month, though that statistic was given to me by a Venezuelan who would like food and doesn't like getting tear gassed.

Do you have a linkt to the daily imgur gallery? Has the guy been keeping it updated?

It's not a single gallery, it's several. Here's the lot of them:

Tell me about the laser whales.

This is pretty cool. Look forward to seeing it finished. In fact, a generic Modern Day Ballad Hack for equipment and such would be super cool.

As God intended. Hyper complicated out of combat rules aren't necessary. Elaborate skill check systems distract from what's actually going on by putting the game in front of the narrative and "social combat" is something that you do by actually talking to people.

How do SoS and TRoS skills differ?

In SoS skills add to the pool you roll. So your pool in a skill test is Attribute+Skill. Both contribute equally, so you can just ace it with high attributes
In TRoS skills set the TN. So you roll you Attribute against your Skill level (lower skill levels are thus better). Feels more like Skill and Attribute are both important in their own way for a skill test.

Just watched the Tabletop Terrors interview of SoS. Claymore sounds like he's talking through a potato, but Jimmy and Bones are really charismatic, they should have a podcast.

I know they are busy making the game, but it would be awesome if Jimmy DMed a one shot every month and recorded it.

That way we get to hear cool likeable people who actually know the game and the world to do sessions for us to get hyped over.

>Each teargas canister apparently costs enough to feed a person for a month
Each ammunition is about 50 euros in my country, so it seems a bit of a long shot but not that impossible either. Don't really know the venezuelan prices, but I guess I could feed myself for a week or two with 50e.

If you had to just eat, you could probably get enough potatoes to live for a month for that amount.

Jimmy's fursona runs a youtube channel although the blubbery git has not posted more stuff since the KS.

The person who posted it said they cost about 47€, without making direct reference to local food prices. Considering that I could eat for two weeks on that in Spain, it seems entirely credible that someone could eat for twice as long in a much poorer country.

That is so crazy. I know the dude who runs the Tabletop Terrors channel, hung out with him and have played D&D and board games with him and his family. Blew my mind to see that he has a channel.
I am going to watch the SoS interview now.

Hell, me and my brother can live for two weeks at $40-60 if we go to aldis, and were both bigger guys.

I can't imagine what they'd talk about, when was the last time any of them played a game besides SoS?

On that note, has anyone tried combining SoS with a different system entirely?

Many different small ways that lead to big changes while preserving the same feel.

A few experiments with Runequest magic.

How'd that go?

All of the interviews are fucking hilarious. That one with Jimmy slithering around the politically laden questions was pretty great.

Lets say theres 50 TG rounds in that pic, so we could feed 50 people out of 100 000+ starvers if the money reserved for those shots was repurposed.

Don't forget the cost of having so many dudes out there to tear gas people in the first place. And anyway, I'm sure those fifty people would consider it a good start.

>Okay my fellow socialists, we'll gas those retarded nazies that want to destroy our glorious socialist nation!
>omg!!! LIKE FEED THE NAZIS INSTEAD OF GASING THEM LIIIIKEEE OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! WHITE GENOOOCIIIIDEEE!!!

Fucking waits for you nazis.

Are you an actual crazy person? What does anything anyone was talking about have to do with natsees? I guess there was gas involved but that's a bit of a stretch.

>Oppress vibrant and diverse socialist country and want to kill all socialists
>dei dun nazeee!11

jesus fuck Veeky Forums isn't /pol/ why you don't go back there stormweenie?

You clearly have no idea what's going on in Venezuela. Why not go try to troll anywhere else?

Alright what's going on you retard racist?
let me guess
>de joooz!1

Oh, I bet you are the same retard that got triggered and posted Inglorious Basterds gifs that other time, right?
Also you seem to be the only one using /pol/-tier greentexts.
Or you are just a retarded on purpose.
Either way, please remove yourself.

No YOU remove yourself back to you dumb fuckin nazi!

After Hugo Chavez passed away, his successor was less popular. Meanwhile in the world at large, fracking became a thing, and hoping to kill it, the Saudis released their strategic oil reserve onto the market, driving the price of oil way down. They hoped that this would kill the fracking industry in its infancy. However, unfortunately for Venezuela, many of their state programs require oil export money to remain solvent, and the low price of oil fucked them. Now the Venezuelans have been facing shortages of basic commodities for a while, and are understandably pissed. Meanwhile, the supreme court dissolved the (opposition-controlled) parliament and transferred powers to themselves, and Maduro is blocking referenda for his removal and delaying the normal election process. He has also banned Capriles, an opposition leader who has run against Maduro in the past, from taking part in politics.
In short, the president has consolidated power of the Socialist Union by stripping it from the Democratic Union and is forming a single-party dictatorship instead of a democratic nation.

tl;dr: the people getting gassed are democrats, not nazis.

>anyone who comments on something has a strong view on it
>anyone who doesn't agree with me entirely is against me
>anyone who doesn't support police tear gassing protesters is a nazi
Does this form of trolling really work in some places?

If you're replying, it's working on you.

In my day, trolling was when you cleverly induced someone else to make themselves look like an idiot, not when you made yourself look like an idiot.
