I wonder if I stepped into an alternate dimension or something because by setting standards elf and orc couples are so rare as to be considered aberrant, while human and orc couples are such a norm that there are some parts of the world where it's harder to find someone who isn't a human/orc mix than someone who'd be considered 'pure-blooded'.
While on the dwarf side of things, a horrible plague among the dwarven lands left most of their women infertile, so it's more or less believed that the current younglings are the last generation of dwarves. Most D&D settings are very human centered, and anything of significance for good or ill was done by a human. Elves don't usually get more than a few paragraphs talking about how they used to have a great kingdom but are now in decline, because doing anything but hitting the same notes as Tolkien takes effort.
