Many orcish women join raiding parties and abduct human women in order to serve them like in the handmaid's tale, forcing those women to have sex with orcish men they like and adopting the half-orcish children as their own without going through the inconvenience or danger of pregnancy themselves.

In any setting that doesn't explicitly describe the treatment of women in orcish society, it is safe to assume that orc women and children take the role of camp followers along with the elderly.

They stay a good distance away from the main raiding force, tending to equipment, gathering food, and assisting the tribe's healer with managing their wounded soldiers and prisoners of war.

In extreme cases, orc camp followers would be forced into battle, so I can assume that the women would have some experience with self-defense, if only to protect themselves from other orcs.

Female orc ADVENTURERS, however, live in the necessarily egalitarian pseudoculture that all adventurers live in.

She was ridiculously put down in her early existence. Saying a mortal male is damn near eye to eye with her isn't a joke.

She got less shit on in later editions, but even now as you can see in pic related she literally has to kneel when in the presence of males and is wearing rags despite being a goddess.

When a warband goes, it's kind of split into two. The men go ahead first, smashing through enemies and opposition, while the women follow after by up to a few days and handle what the men missed or weakened. Eventually the warband stops when the women get too laden with goods and spoils of war (the men don't bother with it in order to keep going without delaying to pillage) to be able to keep up with the men, then the men just return to reunite with the women.

The whole thing resembles a triangle sort of formation, with a large concentrated force of the men punching on through, while the women are more spread out behind to cast a wider net on what they catch or come across. Essentially, men do the fighting (mostly) and women do the pillaging (mostly).

Like Hyenas (and possibly those fucking Gnolls), Orc women are bigger, heavier and more angrier. They are the natural leaders and will rape the mediocre males when they feel like it. That's probably why Half-Orcs usually come from Orc fathers: they're too fucking scared to mate with their own kind.

Orc women should eat their babies during stress. This way, the baby orc dilemma is avoided and the orc women get energy to escape.

Most are breeders, trained in battle to protect the young. The females are the defense of the tribe when the males are out raiding. They are also the taskmasters of the young.

Exceptions exist for achievements and places of honour.

Clearly baby Orcs are self-sufficient and able to walk from birth. Mothers care for them to encourage them to grow bigger and stronger, but when adventuers attack they flee and hide using burrowing and climbing. All adults suicidally attack adventurers.

Like a burned old forest giving way to fresh growth, the children build a stronger society from the ground up free of any hinderances like tradition and feuds.

Anyone not big or strong acts as the domestic workers/slaves, no matter their equipment, because they're weak bitches. It's more often the women due to slight sexual dimorphism, but there are guys there too.

Despite being quite savage and crude, orcs in my setting are quite meritocratic, you earn what you take personally, strength and skill at arms often plays into this.

Women tend to fight with their male counter-parts, often settling down to more motherly roles when they have lost that PMS that tends to define their younger years and are too wounded/old/weary to effectively fight, It keeps any clan strong when your women also have to contend with the selection pressure of the men.

Slaves/loot are often prized by them, its not uncommon for a powerful female to have her own harem of beta-men [imagine the hipster cucks] to handle menial tasks like cooking and cleaning which they don't really get pregnant by due to fact that shamans can prepare contraceptive potions.

In 5e's Volo's book, they made her a lot more interesting. Luthic is still the goddess of motherhood but they also made her the 'glue that holds the pantheon together' and the one who holds down the fort. There's a blurb that says if the hobgoblin and orc pantheons (who are constantly at war) don't consume themselves with their own struggle, Luthic will probably be the last one standing.

Well, Luthic and the Orc pantheon came out when Orcs became super popular and in Dragon Magazine were made a playable D&D race.

The idea was by having comically asshole and unappealing gods the NPC Orcs could still be XP farms you don't feel bad about while player Orcs and their tribes just worship a normal non-shit deity.

So by making all Orcs mysoginists who would cut off the clit and labia of their daughters if they even thought of them as sapient, and would make their wives wear hijabs if females were even worth wasting the cloth on, you have villains you don't even have to think about wiping out.

In addition, orcs are coldblooded, hence averse to heavy armor which hinders their sunbasking, and they lay eggs which are buried in the sand and hatch on their own over time.

For my setting, the women are the magic users. They have a higher aptitude for it than the men. They often take up Druid or Sorcerer as a class depending on how their magic forms. most tribes practice segregation of sexes, with two chiefs for both the male and female sides. Males form the physical front, acting as the melee units due to inborn martial prowess, while the females act as battle mages from the back line, or skirmishing units in the case of particularly powerful Druids with Wild Shape capabilities. Mating rituals tend to be contest based, with men and women competing against each other to see who stands next to whom in power. The strongest of the new generation couple together, and down in power rank from there. The weakest past a certain point might not be allowed to breed while part of the tribe. Love in Orc communities is rare, but not unheard of. Though such events are not held in high reverence, and incompatible capabilities make many Orcs afraid for the weakness of the offspring of such pairings. If Orcs seek love as a reason to marry, they likely leave the tribe of their own volition unless they can prove themselves as a couple to the entire clan and the Chiefs.

True orcs are eight feet of muscle, and have no equipment in their downstairs, as they are grown in vats and molded into the finest warriors the world has ever seen. There are only a few thousand of them left, they cannot die of old age, and they mostly hang out on a series of sunny islands, sportfishing, eating coconuts, and beating the bajeezus out of each other for funsies and to keep their hand in. The last time anyone tried to fuck with them, they burnt the whole city-state to the ground, so for the last couple hundred years it's mostly been getting a nice olive green tan and trading fish and training for large amounts of drugs and exotic materials for their hammocks.
The closest thing to classic D&D orcs are hobgoblins, who run on a strict caste system. Women are roughly equal to men, they might use a horsebow that's a little smaller than their husbands, but are said to be particularly clever when it comes to poison manufacturing.

Depends on the setting. In mine' they're pretty much on equal footing but usually end up doing most of the work in a given horde, since the guys are all too busy inventing things and being great hosts to visitors to remember the little things like feeding the cattle or planting the crops.

Then again, my orcs are pretty much a society of texan Hulk Hogans heavy on southern hospitality and with a bit of Junkrat mixed in.

In my setting, most orc tribes are pretty egalitarian. Physical differences are minimal, and orcs breed fast. The most important social distinctions are between elders/shamans, warriors and slaves.
That said, it varies from tribe to tribe, because some live in harsh enough conditions that they tend to force their women to birth as many kids as possible. The PC's current... boss, well, who was supposed to be their main antagonist until they decided to work for her, comes from a pretty misogynistic tribe.
She wasn't strong, yet she was ambitious, ambitious enough to proclaim she'd be king someday. So her father nicknamed her Khan in derision, an ironic male name for a female nobody. Although she grew up stronger than say, a human, she never got enormously powerful, but she had charisma and wit, and a way to rally people behind her and rouse them to fighting. She left.
Then, a few years later, after adventuring enough with some other outcasts and getting some sweet loot, she came back and made good on her name.
