kys yourself my man

Do people here actually go 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8? I always assumed everyone went 15 15 15 8 8 8

>I always assumed everyone went 15 15 15 8 8 8
That's some boring shit, senpai.

Folks,

If I do array, it's always it's always the former, feels more like a real person.

>15 15 15 8 8 8
>when you can easily use a human to get 16 14 14 12 10 8, a free skill proficiency and a feat

The Empress made a deal with a Void Dragon a long time ago. In exchange for her immortality, she would be required to stay in the same country for the rest of her life. The Void Dragon was what was keeping all the other dragons from causing trouble for everyone, so she had to take his place.

Given that she has ruled for so long, she decided to create a Senate, where every noble house would have a voice, and allows them to make most of the laws but will step in when necessary.

Hey is this where I come to shitpost about the discord?

>16 14 14 12 10 8
But you could also go 16, 16, 16, 8, 8, 8 with human

What do you think about Honor and Sanity?

Best cantrips for a Forge domain Cleric?

Mending is very thematic, though as a Clan Crafter and a worshipper of the forge god, repairing things with magic is a emergency measure, as actual work is both craft, hobby and prayer.

Sacred Flame is nice as a ranged attacks for a 10 dex melee and kind of ties into a divine fire forge

But it's a hard choice.

Remember with point buy (and other ability score producing methods), you've yet to choose a race and have the option of feats, so your ability scores in the end aren't as bad as they may seem.

Lord Strahd Von Zarovich enjoys dropping chandeliers on people. Including (especially) when outdoors

>Discord
Why won't you fucks just kill yourselves already?

Pray tell how he drops chandeliers on people outdoors? Because that is funny as fuck.

Ew no.

A PC is a lord that nearly died in an airship crash and is trying to keep a low profile while trying to find out what the hell is going on their world. That guy is being his usual self and ignoring and not paying attention to anything, and will likely draw attention to the group for several reasons.

This is why people think point buy is good for minmaxers

>Tell me about the warlords, kings, emperors, lords, sovereigns, and rulers, in your games.

My setting is America-esque in origin, in that it was discovered by explorers from a faraway kingdom, and then it was colonized. Due to the immense distance between the kingdom and the colony, when the kingdom erupted into a fierce and bitter civil war, the colony was hardly involved, and when the war ended with the dissolution of the kingdom, the colony was left on its own, as no one came back to claim it. It wasn't worth the effort or expense to maintain something so far away.

However, the colony was still ruled by nobles appointed by the old monarchy, so when the kingdom dissolved, the colony had nobles that were suddenly nobles in name only. With their right to rule swept out from under them, the existing nobles used their resources and influence to stamp out any attempt at orchestrating a new system of government. To this day, they invest heavily in preventing the common people from organizing against the aristocracy.

So the colony currently exists as a plutocracy. Its de facto leader is an apathetic duchess that descended from the original nobles. The blood line is kept clean and in power, and the haughty rich friends of the duchess are just as well the other rules of the colony. They own the land and the businesses, so they own the people.

Rolled 5, 5, 2, 6, 4, 4, 6, 5, 1, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4, 3, 2, 5, 6, 3, 6, 1, 5, 2, 5 = 100 (24d6)

Hope the user that was doing character descriptions in the previous thread is still active.

Ewwww

It's the only way to play a monk

its literally the only viable way to play a monk according to 5eg

What is the worst cleric domain and why is it Trickery?

No seriously, I feel like they really missed the mark with what Trickery could so and I'd love to see an overhaul. It's so lackluster.

>playing monk
Ewwww

What are the best D&D podcasts? are any of them even good?

>16, 15, 14, 13, 17, 12
leave some attributes for the rest of us, user

What race should I use as a soul knife?

I like The Adventure Zone but it's extremely rules-light and focused more on comedy and collaborative narrative, probably not what you're looking for if you want real live play. In their most recent story arc they're not even doing D&D anymore.

It's kind of lost its charm with this detour just because the new format is kind of underwhelming, but the humor is still good enough to keep it listenable. I just can't wait for them to wrap it up so they can do something new. I really hope Travis DMs the next saga but Clint DMing some kind of superhero world sounds incredible.

I hold no responsibility and wish I could roll this well for real

The king of the country my players are in right now is a werewolf who defeated a vampire king long ago.

Dice Camera Action has been on a freaking roll, it's now become one of the best D&D streams out there.

>No new races on XGE

Does anyone else find Standard Array uninspired?

cool

Are you trying to flirt with Veeky Forums user? Because this is like the easiest question I received in here.

We already have way too many playable races.

>daily reminder
If you ban people from playing characters of the opposite sex you are either a bad GM or are in a bad group. All this does in limit player agency or show how autistic your group really is.

Sure, but if you just play your female character as what your Veeky Forums addled brain thinks women are like, you're not getting another chance.

Opinions on the minotaur race?

The horn attack isn't as broken in practice as it looks on paper, right

>not just playing females exactly the same way you play males

It counts as a weapon, not an unarmed strike, so it's fine.

That's my point, people who want to play females typically don't do this.

Then don't play with nerdvirgins. I've never had a player make their character a turbo slut.

It's pretty good. I'd use it for a Shield Master or Grappler build any day, being able to get a free hand and a better damage die then other one handed weapon users is good.

>Tell me of the rulers in your game

The Gnome-King rules Morren, under the constitution unifying his people with the dwarves, but he shares power regarding foreign affairs with the Prime, elected from dwarven nobility. Under the terms of the constitution, the gnomes protect the surface lands while the dwarves defend the underground.

Within the borders of Morren is Silver City, which functions more or less autonomously, and is ruled de facto by Trade Prince Nasir, whose business connections and ties to everyone who's anyone in the city make him untouchable.

The Hyksoon Orcs are led by Kurgos, a visionary former adventurer who broke from his people's traditional Chaotic, raiding ways to teach the orcs to build empires - orcish cavalry are feared across the East for their savagery in combat as well as their terrifying eye for strategy, thanks to his rule.

Iliya, known as the Weeping Queen, married a human king seven hundred years ago and has watched dozens of generations of her own deacendents live and die. Her wisdom as a ruler is unmatched, but so is her melancholy.

Then why even play a female?
Unless you're some kind of freak.

Instead of dual wielding can I use hold two weapons and use them independently from each other? Could I have a spear in one hand, a short sword in the other and decide which one to attack with instead of consuming a bonus action to attack with both in the same round?

Whats the point of a DM banning races or saying X is doesn't exist in my setting? Kitchen sinks are way more interesting, at least to me

I would allow it. It would look fucking stupid, but hey, dualwielding exists.

Yeah, you can make one attack with a sword and another with the spear with extra attack, and not technically be dual-wielding at all. Useful for people without a fighting style or a shield.

My personal favorite combo is a Rapier + Whip on a Valor Bard because a Whip is much better defence then a Shield will ever be.

Maybe DM want's to tell a story which includes certain races being extinct/non-existant/verry different from a gameplay perspective. It does limit customization, but most of the time it's not THAT horrible.

I guess it's the stuff like when people meme about hating gnomes that gets to me

i'd use both, but there's no tool around for making your own character sheetswith them and I'm not spending a few hours on designing that shit myself.

spreads stats too thin

>Kitchen sinks are way more interesting, at least to me
The true mark of an uncreeative mind.
The imbecile is interest in the traits of a race.
Mature people care for the relationship between races and the themes carried by that. Throwing twenty different racial options into the mix guarantuees there won't any theme between them. For the same reason monsters should be selected with utmost care ruins the feel of a world faster than having a themepark of enemies.

How would you rule a player trying to use an improvised weapon to grapple at range?
My player has a 10ft length of chain and wants to use it to attack people 10ft away and pull them closer.

>Kitchen sinks are way more interesting, at least to me
If you can't imagine an interesting game featuring exclusively humans, you should not play tabletop.

ok so a DM i know wants to run curse of strahd, rate the team so far

1) Aasimar going EK
2) Dwarven Cleric
3) Kobold Artificer alchemist (me)
4) Warlock (not sure on path yet)
5) Ranger or Rogue (he hasn't decided yet), but we are steering him towards that path
6) if this person shows up, expect another cleric

In the end mechanics are all that matter, especially when "my elves are different" is a thing.

Gnomes suck. Their concept is incredibly flimsy, their ecological niche is literally already filled, they have no precedents in fantasy or folklore that is not also represented in a more intersting fashion and their design is basically one for people to be lolrandumb.

rule it as a whip
bonus action on hit target must succeed on a str save or be pulled 5ft closer

That's just a meme. for example. There we have elves as an endgame threat, outside of the world players live on. But I did make catgirls to fill the elf/half-elf statline. Kinda have to wonder why I thoguh catgirls were a good idea. But hey, players like them, so it's not that bad, right? Rigth?

if they hit with the attack, let them make a STR check contested by the foe's STR check as a bonus action

it doesn't need to be overly complicated

You're in the wrong edition mate. try 3.5

I am the local warlord. just annexed the nearby county by accident. The viscount surrendered after I sent a dinner invitation and offer of trade relations. Might be because I am a hobgoblin and just ruthlessly crushed an army of invading paladins.

Not 6 paladins/10

I did, but it was a girl playing her. She whored herself out literally first session to get gangbanged by 4 dwarves. She kept doing this throughout the campaign, using her accumulated funds to buy my fighter plate as well as a deed to land so our group could have a base of operations.

>Monkey Grip: You can wield a two-handed weapon with one hand, however it's damage die is reduced to 1d10.
Is this reasonable?

No

What if you can't add your strength mod to the damage instead?

Rename it, so they won't know where it from. And does it still work with gwm

I hadn't thought about that. The weapon still retains the heavy property, but the ability to use GWM with +2 ac from a shield sounds cheeky.

thanks j.r.r. fuckface but if have you considered that relying on the same regurgitated tropes for the same recycled races over and over and over is actually the boring and creative option? not everybody wants to be from a dwarven mining town in the mountains for the hundredth time.

a world where a character isn't locked into a role because of their race and are able to create their own identity and forge their own place in the world through personal stake and grit can be just as, if not more interesting than your bland, lego-brick world that you refuse to construct in new ways. if you're looking for a theme for a setting, why not Individualism, why not the desire to overcome one's past, why not perception of history as a burden, and if you're still so chained to your bullshit, throw a curveball about no character being able to shrug off that burden so easily

>army of invading paladins

>Monkey grip
>5 feet range
>~5.5 damage bonus attack

>PAM
>10 feet range
>~7.5 damage bonus attack
>OA when someone enters your range
>Doesn't require two magic weapons

There is no reaction image to justify my expression.

I would kick anyone who went all 15 or 8 from my group, no questions, no second chances.

Well ok then

>implying a world with infinite number of arbitrary races somehow makes creating your own identity easier
"I'm sorry, the specific set of traits you've chosen for your character is actually a stereotypical example of race IxSGKpmsodgGd. Maybe instead of making a human who tries to be an IxSGKpmsodgGd, you should consider just making a straight IxSGKpmsodgGd?"

>kicking people for picking numbers they can pick
Might as well kick people for using GWM and picking lore bard too

So finally hit 9th level with my Cleric, and was looking at the spells, but there only seem to be a few spells that I can actually use in combat. Is Contagion good enough to warrant a minimum 3 turn delay or should I just stick to Flame Striking shit?

She transitioned from a run-of-the-mill dwarven prostitute to something approaching the companion in Firefly. That is to say, she didn't just gangbang her way into her fortune, she eventually became as close to a classy escort as she could. I also have to give her credit in that it never got weird, she'd always just say she was going out working and would deal with the fine print out of session.

STR 16
DEX 15
CON 14
INT 13
WIS 17
CHA 12

Well then, you seem to have quite an opportunity here! A fine young one such as yourself could find yourself a job with any guild or union in all of Tranor! Do you have a particular link with any Godly entity? Because I could see you as a well respected Cleric, one who could carry the name of any God to glory! Or perhaps you wish to lead a contingent of the Druidic folk in preserving the untamed wilds of the frontier? Either way, you will have the backing of the Guild with you. Approved!

The idea of a prostitute getting more classy over time always seemed kind of contradictory to me. I feel like you pretty much start as classy as you're going to get in that profession

Level 5 spells are pretty disappointing for clerics.
Contagion can be good if you think an enemy will last 3 rounds.
Dispel good and evil is amazing if you are ever fighting those enemies
Flame strike is just a bad fireball really.
Honestly, I'd just use my 5th level slot to banish two enemies

Well you can now Spirit Guardians for 5d8 damage each turn which is pretty fucking cool.

I'd prepare either Contagion or Dispel Good and Evil each day. They're both good enough to prepare one even if you don't end up needing it.

It was a combination of pragmatism and development as the character wanted to be more than just a cheap whore. Also, constantly moving around due to the adventuring life helped a whole lot with being able to "start fresh".

what are some 5e monsters with "interesting blood"?

i'm making a doctor type character which is hunting monsters in an attempt to study their blood, and thus got a bit of a "shopping list"

trolls are the most obvious creatures i guess. maybe lycanthropes for their "blood curse". chimeras, dragons and unicorns spring to mind aswell.

what are some other interesting things to put on the shopping list?

Cave fishers

...

Is there anything interesting you can do with forge domains channel divinity?

Anything that feeds off of blood
