When you choose to do a fantasy setting based off of a real world historical culture there are choices you make creatively that can enhance or distance itself from being authentic. Ethnicity is one of those things. A setting based of of 10 Century England would have 99.99% white characters, and an Asian character would be out of place and almost certainly detract from the authencity of setting.

Yes, it's fantasy, meaning goblins and dragons and magic, etc, but a Mongolian inspired Goblin won't detract from a Mongolian inspired fantasy setting like a Sub-Saharan African inspired person would. To put it simply, the amount of black people in the Egyptian Inspired Amonkhet serves to detract from the setting rather than servicing it. Combine this with the very real Afrocentrism which says Egyptians were the ancestors of today's African Americans, and surely you can see why there are people who are not enjoying the setting and story telling.
