Mounts for non-human races. Give me your best alternatives to the standard horse, as well as mounts better suited to non-human quirks.

Dwarves ride chocobos, of course.

Dinosaurs riding on dinosaurs.

centaurs ride slightly bigger horses

Creepy, I like it.

>non-human races
ugh.

Anyone has any ideas for orc mounts that aren't wolves/wargs or boars? The big problem is that both fit pretty well, though, but I would want to try something else.

Kobloids on lizard mounts, anyone?

Sabertooth Tigers
Aurochs
Small Mammoths
Megatherium aka giant ground sloths

In my setting they ride on eight legged horses. It's simple, but the entire setting is meant to focus on humanity, so keeping Orcs human to a degree is somewhat intentional. They're also a bastardization of steppe-nomads so I like the idea of settlers being driven to terror by a thunder of hooves and a hail of arrows.

Bulls.

I'm quite a firm believer that Camels kind of outclass Horses in most things.

MY favourite mounts to see though?
>Boars
>Beetles
>Dire rats
>oversized domestic dogs
>Ogres/Giants

Oh, and various bovine-ish beasts of burden!

Snakes? The movement range of the head could be interesting to play around with. Esp for a ranged character.

In a similar vein, Hydras for a hunting party?

Also, I've always loved howdahs. One on the back of a turtle or ankylosaurus? Or even better, built into the shell?

Wooly rhinos.

Andrewsarchus, they're enormous, not too bright and underused.

I really like that Crescians ride dogs in Unsounded

Elks or some other large cervid for Elves

Entelodonts. They are similar to boars but not quite like them

why not?
mammals ride on mammals

Bison or Aurochs/Texas longhorn looking bulls I've done before

I personally used to ride a cow around as a kid on my grandparents farm so that gave me the idea
or a rino could be good

>moles
>big beetles
>ponies
>tigers
>elephants
>dinosaurs
>giant frogs
>lhamas
>camels
>boars

The famous Hell Pig

Never thought about that. You're right. The world seems much cooler to me now, thanks

Giant lava spewing spiders for some 3D combat

Wyverns, capcom's doing it.

Dune worms scaled to mount size, for other burrowing creatures to ride.

Hunter X Hunter is the best.

I got orcs on bird-raptor things, feywild elves alternating between grasshopper-esque giant bugs and deer-like ungulates, and dwarves on domesticated bullettes.

Goats, but big

Kobolds riding raptors.
Goblins riding displacer beasts, and serving as emergency rations.
