Any good? (Minus the vampire succ recommended in the last thread)
Nolan Myers
Are there any good Commander Podcasts that /edh/ recommends? Better yet, is there one that you'll argue about?
Christopher Bailey
haven't really looked at your deck but for starters cut the expensive cards if you're new. Try and get a basic deck - upgrade it if it's fun. dont spend 30bucks on a tutor right away
anyway, what's your deck trying to achieve so i know what to look for?
Kayden Roberts
>How would you have done the tribal layout of C17, /edhg/?
Dragons, spirits, elementals, werewolves/vampires. Cats are fucking stupid and only there to attract women and fags. Can't speak for the last one yet but it looks like clerics so meh. Honestly take cats out and put in a real tribe and c17 would be bretty good imo.
Jack Wood
I like the uh, Rise of the Dark Realm + Life's Finale combo, as well as milling opponents out and casting a bunch of spells.
Xavier Williams
The Command Zone is pretty good (watch on youtube is the best way), I listen to them weekly and find them very helpful. Commanderin is also good but done very lazily if you watch on youtube.
The commanders Brew is also decent but it focuses on budget stuff (>$75) so is really meh a lot of the time if you are not poor.
Michael Rogers
As an enchantress deck maybe. I'm thinking of throwing this into Atraxa.
Jonathan Moore
5c Slivers, WBG Thallids, UW Merfolk, RUG Elementals. Cats are garbage, vamps are for edgelords, and dragons Ludevic'd THREE cool lore characters. At least Edgar Markov and the cat avatar have good art, I guess.
Isaac Phillips
Also I'm using MagicCardMarket, so I'm getting 99% of the cards for $0.02 or something.
Zachary Campbell
i was gonna get cheap cards as well until i realized getting 100 cards enither i nor my opponents can read was a bad idea, so i'm getting all english, which is more expensive
Alexander Hill
i have a daxos 2015 lying around, maybe i'll retool him for a curse deck. most curses seem to be black which fits the flavour of the colour
Bentley Davis
Is more hard to take out an enchantment than a creature, right?
Gavin Ramirez
Additional combat phase ain't shit unless you can generate enough mana to keep chaining it.
Josiah Walker
Neheb the eternal boi
Gavin Wood
White also has two of the strongest curses to slow your opponent as well.
Blue curses are mostly mill which is okay I guess
Red is actually good though since it has a curse of bloodletting and stalked prey which is are nice.
Aiden Parker
Curses are primarily Red/Black, so it's B/R/x. It's you choice to do either blue or white for your second color, but I personally feel White has the better curses since the blue ones are just milling stuff, an untap one, and one that clones spells they cast. Queen Marchesa might work best.
Kayden Rodriguez
i'll have a look at red curses again. Queen Marchesa sounds like a solid choice, monarch adds a lot to the table
Henry Harris
Blaxos player here. I don't have an alternate win condition for my list in case my commander is permanently exiled (someone takes my turn and exiles him etc) or taxed too hard. I can't think of anything.
I know last year was enemy pairs, but fuck balance
Liam Turner
Death Cloud for 12 and ruin everyone's day.
Levi Morales
BUG Ooze tribal
Samuel Torres
I was thinking about this as well but wouldn't a curse deck just have to focus a single player? Could be dangerous
Jacob Stewart
>thread question I am very happy with dragons/vampires but i would have liked b/r goblins or demons
Samuel Young
Play some Enchantments.
Eli Hall
i'm thinking that depending on what curse(s) you have in hand, you talk with the other players and collectively curse the most important target at the time. then rinse and repeat for each new curse.
however i imagine there is a chance that the already cursed players will be against you, even if you put an important curse on someone else.
Nathan Collins
Removed Time Warp, and both Tutors. Replaced with Diabolic Tutor.
I'm wondering what lands I should stick in or if I should just use basic ones until I know how to play more?
Jason Williams
I like opalescence but my issue is it conflicts with daxos, it kills all of his tokens immediately. That and more than half my deck is below 4 cmc
James Lewis
Just focus on the biggest tryhard infinite combo fag at the table. Every grouo has one.
Christian Cruz
Everyone recommends Opalescence in Daxos but his tokens die.
Jonathan Baker
>cheating out this and Overwhelming Splendor as fast as fucking possible
I want to make a Curse deck now
Jaxon Kelly
The tribes are okay. I think if anything cats should be replaced with angels. I think the last one is clerics which is close enough.
Any of you guys in the Sacramento area? I'm here for family business but am looking to check out a larger areas magic store. Recs would be nice.
Connor Sullivan
I play it in Daxos as an enabler in case the actual Daxos strategy falters. It has a lot of interactions like or with Parallax Wave that make up for it killing your own tokens. Basically, just think of it like a board wipe, only play it when the advantage you gain from playing it is greater than what you'll lose.
Joshua Thompson
If Marchesa doesn't work out there's always Zur. He can't cheat out all curses but he can slap the opponent with a few.
Nicholas Jackson
I have seen Gonti thrown around here but never in a deck, what's his deal? Does he combo with something or is he just fun?
Austin Diaz
Got this fucker from an HOU pack, wat do?
Jordan James
Tell your playgroup you are running him as your commander.
Lincoln Davis
You could do a b/w blink deck. Jon Suarez from CommVS used him in his Zur deck and bounced him with astral slide and cycling
Joseph Russell
It's like $50. If you're going to play it, play it. If you have $50 worth of other shit you'd rather play, sell it.
Daniel Price
...
Sebastian Thomas
...
Jose Brooks
Can't see shit, captain
Elijah Cook
lands that come into play tapped with no way around it are usually cheap, they come in both two and three colours. i'd recommend getting a few instead of just running basics. evolving wilds and terramorphic expanse are cheap as well, and good for literally any deck
Samuel Cook
I think the bottom deck will be Esper Wizards personally, with a Sen Triplets reprint.
Liam Cruz
Would a Revolt ability activate if the creature flicked, thus that creature was itself the one that left the field?
Kayden Lewis
Is the bottom the UB clerics? deck and the top the dragons?
Anthony Barnes
I'm in davis but I've been to sac, big brother, great escape in sac seemto be good ones. Davis wise, we have bizzaro world and Davis comic and cards
Dominic Smith
I ended up choosing:
1x Command Tower 1x Crumbling Necropolis 1x Desolate Lighthouse 1x Dragonskull Summit 1x Drowned Catacomb 1x Flamekin Village 1x Homeward Path 9x Island 4x Mountain 5x Swamp 1x Temple of Deceit 1x Temple of Epiphany 1x Temple of Malice 1x Temple of the False God 1x Terramorphic Expanse
Jason Lewis
Top seems to be Vampires, cats not in sight
Joshua Perez
Yes, because Revolt doesn't care what creature left the battlefield, just as long as one did in the turn.
Lucas Fisher
I don't know what I'm suppose to be looking at.
Jaxon Brooks
Mardu Vamps?
Hunter Turner
Great Tribal lord, or greatest Tribal lord?
Built a budget deck with him for under 20$, though most of that is due to having almost all the Lorwyn and Ravnica sets already. One problem, though, is that I find I'm lacking in early-game. Since I have access to all colors, I figure I should easily be able to splash whatever is needed. So far, though, my only early game is Hedron Scrambler, Moonglove Changeling, Chainbreaker, Lurebound Scarecrow, Avian Changeling, Woodland Changeling, and the dual ramp dorks of Farhaven Elf and Borderland Ranger. I'm having a pretty hard time getting pressured down early, since people have figured out that free Vindicates with somewhat decent creatures is a bit frightening, so can I get some recommendations for cheap (both in mana, and in $, preferably) creatures to help compete in the early game, or perhaps some spells that I'm missing?
Ian Gonzalez
Commander 2017 stuff
Brody Nguyen
It has wings so I thought dragons. Also the vampire art spoiled yesterday doesn't look similar. We'll find out soon enough.
Owen Murphy
Isn't that the WURBG symbols underneath the card picture too?
Colton Young
When's it out?
William King
the one in the picture is dragons Top left seems like vampires bottom left is unknown
Jose Brooks
>he doesn't know
Adam Young
The top one has what looks like the white symbol in the middle, and not more on the left or right like if it was a 2-colored deck, so it's probably 3-colored
>UB clerics? Clerics without white would be like Vampires without Black Clerics with Blue would be like Vampires with Green. If we get Clerics they won't be Dimir If we get Dimir, it won't be Clerics.
Luke Nguyen
>How would you have done the tribal layout of C17, /edhg/? >ctrl+f ninja >no results Really? They are a pretty popular tribe that desperately needs more support (their best commander isn't even a ninja) and are pretty much unprintable in normal sets. They are also an all-around fun and unique tribe.
Blake Anderson
>Vamps are Mardu >Selesnya Cats >5c Dragons >White is in 3/4 precons
Hunter Edwards
I'd do it in a heartbeat if I thought there were enough useful old ninjas to make a deck with less than 15 new, unique cards. I'm not sure there are, though.
Landon Roberts
You know, one guy in my group had that suggestion too. If it's the kind of thing nobody is gonna really raise a fuss about, I might damn well do it
Anthony Hall
Can do some more rampy creatures, such as wood elves or a krosan tusker even. You should be running some ramp spells, like farseek(manafixing ramp) and K's reach.
You don't really want a strong early game to be creature centric. Someone is just going to ramp into board wipes. I'd focus more on ramping up or tutoring key pieces early game.
Luis Cooper
4th deck looks like U/B so black is also potentially in 3/4
Lincoln Reed
"Only girls and fags like cats" Wow dude your masculinity is paaaper thin. Cats are animals just like bears and snakes. You need to see a therapst and also kill yourself.
Bentley Ross
Dauntless Escort can keep your stuff alive for longer, and is pretty decent if you can recur it.
You could always run flicker effects to dodge removal, especially Eerie Interlude. Ghostway is similar also, but it's a bit pricey.
Hudson Rogers
Assuming Dimir something, black is also in 3/4 of the precons. Really we've got
Dragons: .2 to everything Cats: .5 to Green and White Vamps: .3 to RWB Last one we assume: .5 to Blue and Black
W: 1 U: .7 B: 1 R: .5 G: .7
So the weighting isn't terrible but red got a little hosed. If the third deck is Grixis (is it confirmed it's not? I can't make out shit in those images) the result would be instead
W: 1 U: .5 B: .7 R: .8 G: .7
So blue would be a little hosed.
Ian Nelson
The spacing of the pips under the art makes it look like there are three. Potentially Grixis Rogues.
More importantly: will they stop sucking and use actual removal during their episodes?
Isaac Martinez
I can make out a bit of the pips on the top box, but on the bottom one they are completely indecipherable to me
Cooper Williams
oh and by the way, the green card isn't supposed to be there. Would be a good card to run, though!
Ethan Torres
I prefer to think of it as Partner Commander (threads)
Ian Sanchez
>A Craw Wurm? That thing is huge! What are we supposed to do against this? >We can't hold up long against 6 damage every single turn, I just hope someone finds a way stop it, and fast.
Logan Brown
I already have a lot of ramp spells -- Farseek is one of them, along with Shard Convergence, Sylvan Scrying, Wanderer's Twig, 4 Obelisks of different kinds, and 38 lands already. That being said, Wood Elves might be a good idea. I could cut Chromatic Orb for it. Dauntless Escort is a good idea. I'll have to see if I can find one for trade in my local groups. As for flicker effects, is Conjurer's Closet too slow, do you think?
Matthew Collins
Bitterheart Witch.
Zachary Nguyen
>finally get around to putting a locust god in my yidris wheels/GY abuse deck >early on faithless looting locust god and dread return into the bin >later around turn 9 or 10 animate dead locust with alhammaret's archive in play >cast windfall, draw 12 >flashback faithless looting, draw 4 discard 2 >cast shattered perception, draw 28 >dread return mindwrack liege >I have 44 3/3 flyers with haste >lol turn that shit sidewayz >the monogreen player had a fog and the boros player cast hour of revelation when he untapped
Elijah Gray
nice
Dylan Rodriguez
MLD is love, MLD is life.
Levi Cruz
neat! thanks
Brayden Scott
Haha, OP, you seemed to have forgotten the Discord info. Here it is:
Don't beat yourself up about it though. Just try to be less forgetful next time.
Jose Bennett
>Wow, De Tora's deck is insane! All enchantments and stuff! >Whatever will we do to stop her? >Wew, she gave us an opening by getting my shitty evacuation online! >the crew continues to miss the obvious play that saves her board >everyone else gets blown out
Nathan Cruz
>the MLD player has a worse nonland board than you >MLD's anyway >ask him how he plans on winning >"dont worry i have this in the bag for sure" >doesn't
Connor Myers
Maybe that was their only out, even if it had low odds of succeeding. It's ridiculous to expect people to win after casting MLD every time. Sometimes you just have to blow up all lands and hope you manage to answer what's left.
Oliver Stewart
I unironically run Obliterate in one of my decks. I have not had the opportunity to play it yet however.
Jaxson Jones
>the wrath player has a worse noncreature board than you >warths anyway >ask him how he plans on winning >"dont worry i have this in the bag for sure" >doesn't Why are these people allowed to live
Luis Garcia
>user has apples and oranges >compares them anyway >ask him how he plans on making a rational argument >"dont worry i have this in the bag for sure" >doesnt
Nolan Cox
Derailing the thread is a bannable offense, user. Mind what you post, couldn't heart to see you go.
Justin Brooks
>dragons Ludevic'd THREE cool lore characters Are you seriously complaining about arbitrary dragon avatar, Wasitora, and fucking Taigam? O-Kagachi, sure, complain there if you want, but otherwise I really don't follow.
Cameron Richardson
bottom right is Aetherborn
Daniel Butler
They're two plays that can increase your odds of winning even if the immediate effect isn't ideal and puts you slightly behind. In both cases, it can be better than letting your opponents take advantage of what they already have in play. >I'm probably dead to all this mana and the upcoming entwined tooth and nail, might as well MLD even if I end up losing anyway. >I'm probably dead to this board of creatures and I'm still behind after a wrath, might as well wrath anyway and hope to draw to my outs. They're the same thing.
